- before the first ironclad soldier, go the the right.
- after that long hallway full of ironclad soldiers, next to the bonfire.

Great, thanks! I found them all. Got 4
Soul of a Giant
now. Hmm, I guess now would be the time to kill
the Ancient Dragon? If I can, anyways.

I am sooooooo tired of this Fire Longsword.

I've used it the entire game, lol. Well, except for one brief period inside the
Iron Keep. The enemies seemed to be resistant to fire (understandably so lol).

Thanks for the responses guys! The area that has the two I can get to is one of the areas I have open to me right now but have only gone a little ways in.

A hint for you:
His defense gets halved for every Giant's Soul you have in your inventory.

Hang just behind his left leg (opposite side from his sword) and most of his attacks will miss. Dodge a blow, go to his leg, wait for him to swing (it will miss) hit him once or twice, reposition to leg, repeat

Thanks. Yeah, I had
4 Giant Souls
in my inventory, stupidly used one earlier in the game cause it didn't seem liked it was for anything else.

Managed to beat him with Serra's suggestion. Was still a tense fight but it worked! :D

If I join the Company of Champions covenant, is the difficulty increase permanent? Really just wanted to join for the achievement before resuming a different covenant.

In the Lost Bastille, is it me or do sometimes when your summoner passes through the boss fog gate, IT SENDS YOU BACK IN TO YOUR WORLD?

I believe that happens if they've beaten the boss in that area. When they summon someone the fog gate goes up again, and if they traverse it, it sends you back.

I hit him like 10 times with my Great Club +8, like seriously I went ham on him and when he didn't respond I just left.

e: crap, didn't mean to dp. Sorry.

He has super high defense. You need a bunch of Giant Souls in your inventory to lower it to a more reasonable level. I think you need to do a certain amount of damage to get him to aggro. I could be wrong though.

Prepare 2 ponpo

Oh you back.

Can you explain in more detail? (maybe spoiler tag it too)

I've killed the giants for the fancy key thing and the Giant Soul. Is there a white door in the Gutter that I missed?

how did you miss the giant white door in the Gulch
drop down past the first giant worm

I love the design of
Iron Keep
so far. And the enemies there are really cool. I managed to get all of the
Alonne Knight
set. (first time I've farmed an area enough that the enemies don't respawn) So that's what I'll be rolling with for the time being. But I want to get the bigger guys' armor, since their helm looks cooler.

Beat the
Ancient Dragon
on three characters now. It's funny how the hardest boss in the game (for me) became one of the easiest as it doesn't have the usual 'do nothing and wait for you to press a button so it can attack faster' boss mechanic.

Don't understand this gif meaning but

Yep, this is correct.

And woohoo, time to start NG++ and hopefully get the last few spells I'm missing.

how the hell did you dodge the fire aoe

Just beat
The Lost Sinner
while listening to some Markus Schulz. I couldn't do it until I put on some music lol. Didn't get hit once.

I think there are enough videos on youtube of it now, but he's quite easy to 'cheese' if you stay near his back legs. My first try with him was on my sorcerer and I probably died like 15 times trying to play a more 'ranged' game and keep trying to make him do that forward fire instead of the AoE but it would fail at some point.

If you stay near his back legs you can force him to do one of three attacks, one of which is the big AoE but because you're right near the back legs + tail (and running towards the tail / shadow will save you during that fire AoE) it was easy enough to escape.

Anyway, he did it maybe twice the entire battle. On the youtube videos people have been put out, he does it way more often and I don't know why. I won't say this 100% since it's just been an observation rather than a test, but it felt like if you're under him and standing pretty still, he's waaay less likely to do that AoE vs. one of the other two attacks. The normal attacks were the foot stomp and the under-belly-breath thing, which are both much easier to dodge.

Ok, I was just making sure there wasn't a fog gate I missed. So... where do I get the Giant Souls, those are the memory things, right?

Three from them, one from the pair in the Gultch, one from beating
Ancient Dragon.

Skeptics Spice

I have a bunch of these, can I use multiple on the same miracle? Am I right to save them all for
Sunlight Spear (which requires 55 faith)?

Yep. And if you want to use it without getting you Faith that high, sure. You can take it to 50 and use the Ring of Prayer, or less than 50 and use a combo of those two things.

Yes, that's my plan. Take FAI to 40 or so. Whatever the minimum would be.

though that bridge will wreck you early ingame

Huntsman's in general feels grossly overtuned at the point in which you can access it. Especially the boss fights. Neither of which are technically difficult to figure out at all, but the camera plays all kinds of havoc with both. Those Voldo/Resident Evil S&M enemies hit way too fucking hard too, although once you get their patterns down, they are very susceptible to backstabs.

I think only time the +5 INT or +5 FA rings are ever worth it, is if you are no longer going to raise VIG at all. Life Ring +1 gives you around 10 SL worth of VIG, and the INT/FA rings are only 5 SL. I'll need to recheck that though. The description of the Life Ring on the wiki seems way off, because I was certainly getting more than a 7% increase in health.

As a caster though, a ring slot is always dedicated to the Clear Bluestone and one of the three Dragon (the hp/sta/load versions) rings. While leveling, especially every character after your first, it's almost a no-brainer to wear the Silver Serpent +1 (+20% increased souls) too. There are a lot of great rings left over vying for that final slot. Gold Serpent comes to mind if you're looking for drops, Soldier's if you want even more equipment load, Northern or Southern Ritual bands or even the Ring of Life Protection (if u bad...). If you play around with Hexes, the Abyss Seal is pretty much guaranteed too.

And maybe I just got terribly unlucky, but I think I ended up with twice as many Skeptic's than I did Simpleton's...so lowering FA requirements shouldn't be difficult.
