I've respec'd a few times now and adp is more helpful then I thought. Not having it up, at least a bit makes so many actions seem like they take forever.

I'd need to see some real hard evidence against ADP, because my experience as a no shield character has been high ADP = live, low ADP = die. The roll is like the DS1 roll instead of the pathetically low on i-frames default DS2 roll.

and i need hard evidence for ADP. i finished the game wit 3 adp (dual wield or two handing). i tried 20 ADP for a few hours and didnt notice any difference.

Raising ADP rasies the speed of drinking estus flask and using items, not roll speed.

That's vitality.

I'm not referring to roll speed (which is governed by your weight), I'm referring to the i-frames. Low ADP rolls are garbage IMO, back in the beta people even thought there were zero i-frames on rolls because of it. Try and roll through something, get nailed and die.

High ADP in my experience makes the roll more like DS1 where you can actually use it to i-frame through attacks and magic easily. As I said, someone's gonna need to show some really good evidence that it's pure placebo. My ADP is at 38 (110 Agility) and it definitely feels different to me.

not true. low ADP rolls with low equip load are very good, ADP gives you an extremely small i frame boost and should not be your reason for pumping levels into ADP

lol this is just great...

Now, not only do i have to run back to Nassandra each time, I also have to warp to Amana and run up the stairs and pray for humanity.

sorry but that's past where I thought I could go. lol. I'm calling in help. SUN BROS, AID ME IN MY TIME OF NEED!

Might be your experience, but it sure isn't mine. Was playing with a new character a bit ago and going "man, I know I can roll through these without getting hit" while I was getting hit, and I had light armor on. Go back to my SL130 character with ADP? Roll through attacks no problem.

In my experience, I caught attacks more often while rolling with my low-ADP mage than my high-ADP paladin (mainly from turtle knights, ruin sentinels and Smelter Demon), but that's just my experience.

WOAH, woah, slow down a sec!!!!

I beat Nashandra and the credits are rolling? She was the final boss? edit: I'm happy that I beat her but sad that i'm watching the credits, feeling very torn right now.

Dex build in this game is basically useless. You are not only walking target from bruiser tank/magic users, most of weapons that are worthy of dex builds are halberds and rapier.

I'm most likely gonna respec my stat to change my character into str/fai build.

I think I have a problem. I already collected the 4 main boss souls and lit the primordial bonfires but the door in the shaded woods still won't open. Did I miss something?

Oh god. Lost Sinner on NG +, and having to keep
Lucatiel alive
...

A test of patience.

After a number of failed attempts, I finally got a close call with another summon, but
she died anyway.
.I finished the fight, I couldn't take any more.

I have no choice but to solo Smelter and Rotten now if I want to get this trophy. Those 2 NPC summon trophies are bs, but I want the platinum.

I almost lost it one time. I cleared the entire area so I could navigate her toward the door without her losing health. I summon another player, and do the Prostration gesture to indicate we need her alive. When I do this, she moves slightly forward and falls of the edge XD
The other player, in partial Lucatiel getup nonetheless, realizes what's going on and returns home. Dark Souls.

Multiple hours wasted on this yesterday.

Respec'd for fun on this chara because I wanted to try out Sacred Chime Hammer. Terrible weapon but I like the look of it ;_;

Buy Red Eye ring from the cat.
It is an aggro ring that usually force bosses to target you instead.

That's a good idea, but... Smelter demon with red eye ring?

well i guess i beat the game. felt really
abrupt.

ending/game thoughts:

Like out of the blue, it's over, abrupt, I didn't even really know that it was the "final boss", in Des and DS it's very clear that you are at the end. You know what you are doing and why. Not so in DS2, then again, I haven't really known what i was doing since the beginning and some vague idea of "get big souls". Feel like in that department at least the first 2 games were better. Everything else though was great. The world was simply massive and a ton of fun to explore. After the 10th or so new area I was like, it's gotta be over now, but then I'd find a whole new area of the game. Loved that.

The challenge was there and was in line with the other games imo. As far as "hardness" goes, i feel like it earns it's Souls title. The weakest aspect of the game was really the utter lack of explanation in the game for nearly anything, which is funny as many of us ask for less hands on approach from games, but maybe this swung too far in the other direction. Had a hard time figuring out what to do in some cases, even after pouring over the flavor text on items. It was a little obtuse. In my opinion DS layout is much better, very open but had a "guiding hand" pushing you along. This may actually be one of the reasons that DS2 felt longer, more time searching and figuring out what it is you are supposed to do. But this shouldn't take away from the scope of the game, it really is a huge world and I loved being in it, confused or no.

If I had to rate the games it'd be DS>DS2>DeS whileI played DeS first, I really prefer and like the open world design as opposed to the hub/level selection of DeS. that's just a personal thing for me and why DS will always be better then it.
Final game time ~88 hours. Spent a fair but doing pvp throughout the game as i came across covenants. Tried them all out for a bit. Did Dragon Cov. the most probably on the bridge in
iron keep

edit: Final Score:
on a |bad|poor|average|above average|excellent| scoring system, I'd give this a hearty above average, very close to excellent, but the complaints I made above account for that.

Hahaha this is great.

It was fun to make hah!

I'm loving the Vanquisher's Seal, that thing is alot of fun in PVP even if it's getting me killed.

People don't expect me to hit this hard without a weapon :) Doesn't do anything to help the crappy moveset and range that the fists have though.

I have to test out the scaling on fist damage and if pumping my STR to 99 would actually make a significant difference in terms of damage output.

You can use a
Bonfire Ascetic to respawn bosses and kill them multiple times with Lucatiel. You need three kills total. I killed Flexile Sentry once and Rotten twice with her to get her equipment and the trophy. Rotten is super easy with the Redeye Ring. You can bait him around with little fear of death. Takes a while but it works.

Yeah, you can also summon a second NPC for the fight against the rotten which makes it even easier.

Don't think the
Rat Authority
boss is anywhere near as bad as some people make it seem. Took me 5-6 attempts, I picked off
3 of the dogs each attempt with arrows before they made it to me. Made it so much easier.

wait, who exactly is my character and what is it that she needs to do? lol

I knew early on that I will be fighting Gwyn, who is lord of cinder and the sunbros follow him. He has two children Gwynevere and Gwyndolin both of whom have their own followers and that these two reside or used to reside at least in Anor Londo. Gwyn asked the witch of Izalith to recreate the first flame but ended up creating the Bed of Chaos instead.

What I am trying to get is that everything and every area is connected with some purpose in Dark Souls and it's all told through NPCs. In DS2 all I hear is NPCs talking random things most of the time and I hear nothing about the bosses, about who they are and just what the hell am I doing in this place.

Very late-game question (minor spoilers):

I've cleared out the memories and I assume I can go to the final boss of the game. Is it possible to finish it without impacting other areas of NG? I have Vendrick and the Dragon left, and haven't been able to beat them.

It does not:
1. Affect dodging in any way.

It's basically as shitty as Resistance was in the previous game. I feel bad for everyone who's been wasting points in this filler stat because of the placebo effect it has on some. I mean really, its main benefit is the poise boost, but you're essentially doubling points spent in Endurance (the one stat of the two that actually benefits you) and reaping half of the reward. More health would be better than a single point into ADP.

Yeah I respectfully disagree. Agility is upped best through ADP, and agility is important. I tested this myself, when I found the Drangleic armour, having been used to Aurous armour and really low equip burden percentage.I threw it on after pumping ADP the whole early game. Lo and behold I could still roll quick like a hollow in Dark souls, but it was like there was a force field holding me in place. Obviously I started the game rolling like a turd, but when my equip burden was stolen from me with drangelic armour (basically WORSE than early game percentage), I could still do cartwheels lightning quick....just on the spot and not with any length. I am willing to bet a lot on this:
FAST ROLL=AGILITY
length of roll =VIT
I frames who knows, but likely a combo of the above.

I only had 14 VIT but at least 17 ADP when I did: this (14:10 of vid.) I frames were rocking pretty hard. Even if it only helps the estus chug, I can guarantee you I would not have won this fight without the quick estus I was able to pull off. But I doubt that is the only effect. Have you seen anyone else do this fight moving this quick? I sure haven't. I would be willing to bet it also helps just regular walking/running speed as well as potentially responsiveness changing directions. Equip burden is more important, but the quickness is likely multiplied in there together with agility.

Finally saw V
engarl's body
. Wow, that was a surprise, I didn't expect him to be where he was. I bet some people were probably like....surprise! ha ha. Anyway, I went back to Shaded Woods and he said he'd fight with me, and I got the rest of his armor and can now buy his swords. I'm probably not going to use them but I really like his helmet, and I'm going to keep using it for the rest of the game, or until I find something that looks cooler.
D
uke's Dear Freja
was an easy fight, but probably because I've already collected 2 Great Souls, and I think I'm pretty much ready to take Drangleic Castle. I went this way though so I could explore the rest of the areas and get more upgrades.

Also, wasn't P
ate
supposed to be around here in Brightstone Cove? I didn't see him anywhere, or the other guy. Maybe he's behind that locked door that I still can't open.

Haha let us know how that goes. I always found it was a shame that fists did so little damage in DS1. I like that they made more play styles viable in DS2. Even greatshields do a lot of damage when upgraded properly. Try two-handing a Gyrm greatshield for example. It hits HARD. Not the best moveset or anything but you can wreck fools with it if you want. Couldn't do that in DS1 since they did so little damage.
