Show us your gaming setup: 2014 Edition

Pure, what's the point of all that equipment? I assume you are into photography and editing. But that seems like a lot of equipment.

Anyways it looks very awesome.

Here's a better picture of the family room. I need to take pictures of the loft space as well.

Thanks Dead!
I state why I have all that in the full 13min version of that vid which I didn't post here, but to put it in a few sentances basically my main 'career' is working at my comp doing graphic/design work. The 2nd rig is usually not there, I only use the 1ultra book (ibook I've kept for legacy file purposes and cause I like its timeless white plastic look aha), tablet is gym only, 1phone for business/1personal/ 1 for YouTube review, and most of the headphones I've also acquired as review units for YT. Most of my gear shown is put away/off in all different places, I just put it all in one place on my desk for filming purposes so I can do one simple pan across it all :D

Added some LED's I think it looks great! Im in college, so mine setup is not as good as most here, but I think its pretty efficient. Recommendations welcome.

Really like your setup! To be honest, I'm even thinking of copying it for my small living room (TV on the right, computer next to it from the left and the couch in front of the TV.

May I ask how deep your desk is? Looks like ~60cm / 24inch to me, just a bit more than your case.

Also, why are there 4 doors in your room?

Thanks! I like it a lot. Don't have a tape measure around, but the desk is about 28- 30 inches tall.

I have a door for the entrance to my room, my bathroom, closet and balcony.

Oh okay, I get it know. I'm not used to these "Closet-Doors" since in Austria we don't have stuff like that, we just use a big wardrobe.

It's so pretty that you got a bathroom door in your room. I like love american and british roomar rangement. I also like those apartments where you go through the main door and BAM right in the kitchen. Almost all apartments and houses here got endless corridors..

I'm a student so its still a work in progress, any advice would be great

Recent addition, Finally bought a new PS3 to replace the broken first gen. much nicer than the old HTPC I think. I also re-built the gaming rig, totally replaced the insides, now running an i5 4670K and a pair of GT650tis inside a glorious Fractal design R4

This is nice. Except for the TV above the fireplace making everyone crane their necks to watch TV.

That's just bad ergonomics man.

My dad has a TV above his fireplace. You are right, it does strain the neck. He has two reclining chairs in front of the TV to help ease the problem.

Alot of places have this setup though, this room looks fantastic and is well furnished otherwise. Wish i had this design sense.

Do you dabble in photography? That looks straight out of an IKEA catalog.

Well thank you! I don't really mess with photography. Ever since our first born has arrived, I've been learning how to really use my DSLR.

Looking good! Could you tell me where you got the art on your wall?

Most of our furniture is from Urban Barn. We shopped around, and we always ended up coming back there. We just stuck with it.

Here's the link to the painting

This is awesome, love the painting on the wall.

Thank you!

That looks really great. You guys have good taste.

Thanks for that. Yeah, my wife and I are on the same page (most of the time).

I dont about you guys, but I would be really annoyed if I couldnt watch my tv from a center position.

It's not bad. And the mount moves, so that I can view from the center when I want ;)

For a fixed center position, that will be my projector setup once I start the basement project.

Meh, it's not as extreme as it looks. We have 9 foot ceilings and a smaller mantle, so the TV is not as high as you think. We also bought a nice comfy couch for the space.

I do not have to strain my neck to watch anything on this plasma. It also helps that it's a Sanus articulating wall mount for when I want to game or watch movie by myself or with the wife. The way it is set up now, I can view content wherever I am at on the main floor (since it's a open concept layout). It also works out well when I have people over to watch sports.

I get people reserves on mounting it over the fireplace. Our mantle is not high, nor is it big. I've seen terrible placement of sets above the mantle. Heck my wife's uncle has his over his fireplace. The problem? Well it's a big mantle and low ceilings. He might has well have mounted it on the ceiling.

I'll take a picture sometime of what it looks like from the seating position when I move the set.

My modest setup, updated slightly for 2014.

Still using a matrix switch to cycle between the old HDTV and my left monitor, WiiU is new, there's a tiny bit of new hardware going on in my PC (Blu-ray drive, snowball, some HDDs) and the piano is new and close enough to hook up to the PC for MIDI use.

Lots of cables everywhere too, and some pictures my daughter drew and taped on the wall.

Final setup. I got the Elite Screens Manual 120" pull down screen. It is paired with the Viewsonic PJD7820HD. It's the cheapest 1080p projector on the market at $700. It can put out a whopping 3,000+lumens at max. I have it set on Economic mode to make the bulb last longer.

My desktop with lights fully on so you can see my speakers:

I love how each player has their own 60" screen.

Unfortunately I noticed in setting it up for pictures I have the screen projecting too low. It's fixed now.

Could you please share the wallpaper? That is adorable.

Any time a screen is set above eye level, it's simply an inferior ergonomic position. The deviation from above eye level increases strain.

Admittedly, if you're only looking up with your eyeballs, it's not a big strain - but looking down is much easier for your eyes than looking up.

Personally, I would've put the TV on the painting wall; although I can't see what's in the camera position - I'm wagering that you could've made that configuration work with a little effort.

Ah well, no big deal - it's a nice space still!

Where else would you put it?

I'm also not a fan of tv above the fireplace. TV should be the same level as your head when sitting on the couch. I would have put it against the wall where the sofa is. You lose space to put the two arm chairs but I say it's worth the trade off.

What's the specs on the Vaio laptop? I've been looking for a good mid range gaming laptop than I can program with also..

It's an old beater I use strictly for work, but it's pretty much dated and really not worth mentioning, ha. I got a decked Alienware 18 for all the fun and games. It's packing an i7-4930MX @ 4.4GHz, 32GB DDR3L, 2 x 256GB Samsung 840 Pro's in RAID 0 and GTX 780M SLI. The desktop packs a i7-4960X, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 32GB DDR3, a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro, and a GTX 690.

What's the mouse mat, something Razer?

Is it suggested that people use mouse pads? I've found one that is pretty huge and for £7 seems good. Any thoughts on it?

It's a razer goliathus extended. In all my time gaming on PC I've never really bought into one pad being better than another tech-wise. The only thing that really mattered to me was if they could take a beating and last for years. I'm my experience, the cheaper ones don't last very long and quickly show wear and tear.

Bravo

I wish!

Though it probably wouldn't be too hard to set something up to map MIDI input to X-input. I should try it sometime.

Yeah, I should try it too.

I play piano, and don't normally think of it as part of a gaming/studio setup, but saw your picture and was like, hey yeah, why not?

Ah well, no big deal - it's a nice space still!

Pretty much, everyone has different ideas for defined spaces. Cheers! :)

That's cool. We could have done it like that, but we didn't want to cut the flow of the room with a big couch. Plus we have guests a lot of the time, so we also didn't want to sacrifice seating for others...

Cheers!

Sorry man, I'm biting your style. I hope that painting is in stock at the Mississauga location.

HAHA No worries! If it's not, they can order it for you.

Our whole house was pretty much furnished by Urban Barn. They've got a ton of great stuff!

Love clean setups like these. Where are your consoles lol

Here are some quick Rough Drafts my GF just sent me for ideas for my Gaming Center. I think they're looking really good. She didn't properly scale characters to life-size, but finla product would. What about you guys. Any ideas?

I like the setup, a lot. It's ideal if you have a ton of physical media. Characters on doors look tacky though. But if you like it, go for it!

Well I really want a FF theme for my Game Center, it's my favorite series. I could put the standard Amano Artwork for all the games down the sides instead, but with how often they release a FF game I'd have to redo the doors every year or so to fit them all on there. Still just in the planning stage. We'll see what happens

It's well executed for what it is. If you wanted a FF theme that would be the way to do it.
