So gosh this is getting embarrassing but I have no idea what to do...again. I got the
Ashen Mist Heart
and a
Soul of the Giant
. I look up what to do with the
soul of giant
and all it says it gives you more damage against
King Vendrick
who as I understand is an optional boss. How the heck do I just beat the game? DeS and DS1 where not this cryptic as far as what you needed to do to advance.

Go to the throne of want, if you've already beaten a boss there, you'll find another.

Looks like I'm at the end of the line.. does killing the final boss automatically send you to NG+ or can you screw around and choose when to start NG+ on your on time?

You can mess around and do mop up all you want, which is what I am doing. Just go to the bonfire in Majula and it will give you the option to move on whenever you are ready.

Finally beat (late game boss/location spoiler):
Velstadt in the Undead Crypt.
Took me fucking forever, mostly just to get to the damn boss. Finally I had to resort to summoning help just to clear the area beforehand. Probably could have taken the boss solo but god I hate those enemies preceding it. It's like the run from the bonfire to O&S all over again.

Now I have 100k+ souls to spend but I have no idea what to spend them on. I'm at SL120 and not sure if I want to make the push to 150 or stay at 120 for PvP/co-op purposes. I guess level doesn't really matter in place of soul memory.

Christ, they really went apeshit with status effects. Every mid game area has some going on. Its either poison or curse or bleed or something. Its getting to the point where almost EVERY enemy I am fighting is doing some status ailment build up.

Moderation, From. Learn the meaning. Jesus.

I've been using the Mastodon Greatsword. It's freaking amazing.

Before that I was using the Gyrm Axe which is a better weapon in terms of physical attack but it was way too slow for my liking.
Yea I wasnt very find of gyrm axe myself. Also ive never come across that Mastodon Greatsword. Where can I find that one?

That's exactly where I got stuck too, without a bloody clue on how to progress. You need a total of
4 giant souls
, some of which you can get by entering the
giants memories
. Good luck!

Like what? I guess a lot of things have effects but the only thing I can recall actually getting inflicted was poison in the gultch and petrifaction from those rat dog ape things in Aldia's. Maybe a curse from a case but irrelevant status.

Infusing splits damage so it needs to go through 2 or more defence types.

It also reduces scaling so if you have high stats, it's usually better to have normal weapons.

That said, it's good to have certain elements that bosses are weak to and also it can be good for weapons with low or no scaling.

I think the black dragon sword thingy, +5 raw would have near 500 base damage without any scaling at all.

Thank you. I will experiment with some weapons also. I can always revert them back also if I don't like the results.

Infusing is best if you're just running minimal stats for a weapon that has poor scaling.

And reverting back doesn't take away the upgrades which is excellent.

You only need giant souls
to make the Vendrick fight easier.

After hearing people complain it was super hard for melee I took great satisfaction killing
spider
second shot.

Attacks were super easy to dodge but first attempt I got greedy at the end.

The only problem with
Freja
is the minions and getting caught at the wrong end. Pretty easy to avoid and get damage in once you figure it out.

Ha! Damn Even with the cat ring I can't survive the fall into the well landing on the first Beam at full heath

One nagging thing about Amana.
What's with the girl sitting alone? Not the singing girl, the other one. You could target her but I pressed Talk and she simply vanished. Did I miss something?

There is another one in Drangleic Castle that drops a ring when you try and talk to her that allows you to appear human while hollowed. Don't know if there are more women or what their purpose is.

*gets summoned as a shade to help fight off invader*

*kills invader*

*gets sent home as a reward duty unfillfilled*

Yeah fuck you too buddy.

Welp, I've settled on my fashion souls.

Everything upgraded, might respec in the future depending on weapon options but otherwise I'm set.

Can't believe I died 3 times to
Royal rat Vanguard
so embrassing. Stupid rats.

Also, does anyone know how poise works? I understand its different from ds1 but what exactly does it do? I get staggered regardless of how much poise I had so what are the other benefits if its not being able to take a hit and not get staggered?

It doesn't.

I traded
Nashandra's
Soul for The Bow of Want, but need to level up my faith a few more times before I can use it. Oh well, it will be worth it once I do.

Wow, so I finally beat that bastard,
The Rotten. I hacked at him with a greatsword this time, and I cut his damned armed up. he literally kept trying to swing at me with that very arm, and I just went to town on him with no danger....

Feeling accomplished.
Dragnleic Castle
time.

So
Lost Sinner
with a bonfire ascetic doesn't trigger the additional pyromancers. Good to know.

Tired of Tank Souls, Chaos Blade acquired for my str dude. No idea if I'll ever get to ng+ on this guy.

Man I feel like the PvP is too skewed towards people with longer range weapons. I switched from a Manslayer to a Washing Pole (which basically looks like Sephiroth's Masamune) and the difference in range is making a difference in the damage I'm doing to people.

How are people getting there endurance to 135 with the stat at 20? My endurance level is 25 and I have only 125 endurance. Is there a ring that I guess I haven't found yet?

Ahh ok. Thanks. Is this ring found in ng+?

Nope.

It comes in First, Second and Third "levels".

Not sure where the first is found.

Second comes from the
male scorpian dude in shaded ruins after killing the boss. Need ring of whispers for dialougue
.

Third comes from a side area in
Dragon Shrine
if memory serves.

No, it's in a chest in
Dragon Shrine
.

You can find it, and the lesser versions of it, in NG.

Ahh just started ng+, I'll just have to work my way back. Thanks.

Awesome thanks.

First one comes from the scorpion guy before killing the boss I think.

ugh....

finishing up some post game content and
I get greedy on Vendrick and run out of stamina, get my guard broken, then killed.
Last attempt he was at about 10% health... :( it takes so long...

I'm taking a break. lol.

I got the second from him by killing him after. You also can apparently get the first as a covenant reward from the champions. Kinda a fail reward considering the drawbacks.

The Mastodon-looking enemies can drop it. However there is one in a chest: How far are you into the game? Don't want to spoil any locations.
I just got to a place
with a long staircase and two mastadon guys in front not sure what its called

I remember reading that if you kill the young maiden in things betwixt that the old ladies wont notice/care. Only to find out that they won't talk to you anymore.

You got giant souls in your invantory?

His defence is reduced for each soul you have with you (up to a total of 5)

Okay,
Demon of Song
is definitely the coolest looking boss so far, even though he was easy as hell. It felt like the graphics suddenly became 10x better during that fight or something.

And my jaw literally dropped when
it rose up to do that body slam attack.
I wish this game had more bosses like that.
