Ok, started a cleric, any stats I should pour points into first to a certain point?

Sorry, a bit late with a reply. You could up STR early as suggested to one-hand the mace, but I found no reason to ever one-hand it. It's pretty broken early game when two-handing. However, raising your DEX to 9 allows you to use the
flaming longsword, which is superior in some cases to the mace and allows you to use a shield (the leather shield you find relatively early is quite fantastic for the requirements and weight. You can get a much better one later after McDuff opens up. After that, I'd suggest taking your FA to 22 so that you can use Lightning Spear. Then, I'd start raising INT to at least 22 so that you can equip the Sunset Staff (it only requires 20 FA 20 INT to get, but 22 INT 18 FA to actually use).

You're probably beyond that point though. And if you do decide to play the Hexer/Sorcery route, you more than likely won't want to go beyond 30 INT and 30 FA. Dark scaling drops out after that. The only real reason to go beyond 30 in either is because some of the later Hexes require a bit more into either of those stats. Or, if you really wanted to use Soul Geyser that badly, you could raise your INT a bit higher and use Simpleton's Spice to lower the requirement (64 INT). I never found the Hexes that have much higher requirements worth the stats at all, but if you PvP much, Affinity might be worth it to you.

Once you reach the Shaded Woods area, and you go into the
Misty area that leads to the Claymore vendor, you can find a Clear Bluestone Ring +1 around the middle of the section right past the curse vase, which raises casting speed by 35%. You can get the initial one off of the Sorcerer vendor in the Wharf. Other rings I'd suggest through the early to mid game would be the Soldier's Ring as well as the First Dragon Ring

Also, in light of some more recent testing, near the end of the game you might want to go ahead and dump a few points into ADP. At 40 ATT, your agility should be at 93 I believe. A few into ADP should cap it off at 100, which seems to be a really good spot to be at for flask use and additional dodge i-frames.

You guys know about Santier's Spear? I read
if you bang it against a wall/rock/etc to degrade it down to 0, the big skull/rock stuck on it comes off and it becomes a nice spear with a badass move set...and that it can never break after. It has 500/500 to start, so supposedly it takes ~20 minutes to do this process. I'm typing this now while doing it.

Edit: it's true and the move set is pretty sweet.

Yeah, it has an awesome moveset. Unfortunately it seems as though it requires weapon buffs to do any great damage. One of the better imbues for it as well would be
poison
believe it or not.

I've been using the Mastodon Greatsword. It's freaking amazing.

I just wish it had the moveset of the Drangleic Sword. The thrusting r2 is just too good. Like I can't move to any other greatsword because of it and the folowup circle. Claymore's followup is a spin as well, but the other way around and seems to give more of an opening. Black Dragon Greatsword has a great moveset, and better two handed moves then the Drangleic, but no scaling with any stats.

Anyone know if the Old Knight's set has a similar mechanic? The flavor text makes me think there is something else there...

Dammit, I need titanite chunks but the bell covenant isn't getting anything for me right now. Probably leveled up too much, even though I saw another area that lets you invade it seemed optional and off the path a bit.

What the hell? Someone threw me over the side of the bridge in Iron Keep with his sword.

Okay,
Demon of Song
is definitely the coolest looking boss so far, even though he was easy as hell. It felt like the graphics suddenly became 10x better during that fight or something.

And my jaw literally dropped when
it rose up to do that body slam attack.
I wish this game had more bosses like that.

lol, this is true.

Where are you in the game? A merchant has an unlimited supply.

More random questions... Have any of you used the boss souls for souls? Any of you found any badass weapons from boss souls? Since I've yet to mess around with sorcery/miracles/hexes (killed every boss as pure melee), are there any boss soul weapons I should snag in case I ever decide to? I ask because I've used pretty much all the ones I've wanted, but still have a lot left over and can't decide what to do with them now.

Last thing I did was
beat the Old Iron King which was my fourth Primal Bonfire
. I've mostly been running around older areas trying to upgrade gear, but if there's a merchant ahead I'll just keep trucking on.

Where's this merchant?

Is there a second bonfire in dragon shrine? I saw a message that said bonfire ahead but i don't see any. I wanted to fight the boss, but if it means a half hour of fighting my way back to him every time, then screw it

Nope.

Depends where you are in the game.
You first meet her in Harvest Valley and then she ends up in Majula if you exhaust her chat. She has unlimited shards, large shards and chunks later in the game.

Shrine of Amana
and
Undead Crypt
down tonight. That pit in the
Crypt
with the bells was probably the worst thing ever.

Most memorable boss design in the game.

Probably the creepiest thing I've ever seen in the series. Gave me the willies.

No idea how I'd beat that boss with pure melee.

Fully upgraded Giant Warrior Club with no buffs: 2Handed R2 = 2000 Damage :O i think i have my new favorite weapon ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Clubs in general seem to hit the hardest in this game. The fastest speed run (1:44) used two of the starter clubs and just wrecked everything.

You'd be surprised at how easy it goes down with pure melee.
It's a one trick pony so you just dodge backwards when it's about to fall, wait for it to open it's mouth, smash the gooey insides with all you got. Repeat 2-3 times. Boss dead.

I found this boss to be easiest one in the game(Though I found the area itself to be the hardest), only thing that gives it a run for its money is
the Covetus Demon
. Funnily enough I think both of the easiest bosses were the best designed artwise.

THAT was (Drangleic Castle boss)
The Looking Glass Knight
?!? I imagined the fight much differently from the screenshots months ago. I thought the arena was supposed to be small and circular, the boss itself ginormous, and
wasn't there suppose to be an actual player summoned in the middle of the fight
? I was anticipating it and it never happened, aside from the NPC minions, of course.

Man I'm bummed out, killed with ease. I remember an article saying something like "FROM liking to make the player's life miserable with this extra tidbit" and highlighting the exact boss I just faced. Perhaps my imagination got the better of me, I did go in dark.

Pretty much like you'd beat most other bosses in the series. Circle strafe around it, wait for it to do an attack, avoid it and hack it.

Ok so I'm in
Aldia's Keep
and there is a
hallway with a bunch of developer messages saying "Pull Back" "Don't you dare"
should I do it?

Yeah, it was definitely underwhelming. One note, though,
in NG+, and actual player can be summoned through his shield.

No.
It opens the fog gate keeping the NPC on the other side trapped. If you speak to him while hollow, he gives you a 4 step quest line. If you open it, he will invade you numerous times...and you can't buy from him or do his quest.

And this is probably the biggest disappointment with the game, Bosses can comfortably be beaten by just circle strafing around it, wait for it to attack, either dodge/roll or block, attack and rinse repeat. Easily exploited.

59 hours of awesome. Even liked then ending.
Killed
Vendrik
first time. He was easy with 4 giant souls.

Only boss I haven't tried yet is the
Ancient Dragon
will give him a shot before I move onto new game plus.

Navlaan sidedquest was cool. You can easily do it without killing anybody.

They downgraded this boss so much... I won't even touch on the graphics, I'm talking difficulty. I fought him like 10 times at events and didn't beat him a single time. In the actual game I was hardly touched and easily won the first time. I felt empty inside...

Was summoned as a red phantom at the Iron Keep bridge the other night. That son of a bitch left the front door close so I had nowhere to run while he had 2 other phantoms to help out. This is like taking very definition of ganking to the other end of the spectrum :(

Well thats hopeful, thanks!

I was just expecting...something more I guess.

Thats how I feel right now...I've hyped myself for months and was looking forward to that fight the moment I stepped into Drang. Castle. Seems weird to feel this way about a section of a game, but it was the only peek I had on the game before going dark until release date. So hollooowwwww right now.

Just beat, best 50 hours of gaming I've had in years.
Is their two endings or just sit on the throne and i assume relight the flame?

You were online?

Darklurker
is a sick joke, right? This is it. The is the hardest boss I've encountered in the 100s of hours of souls games I've played.

31 effigies gone. For once, I think I may give up. I've made zero progress in 4 hours.

After 20 or more hours of play learning the way dodging works and having prior experience with an enemy, of course it's going to be easier.

And he does summon real players, problem is a vast majority of players have no idea HOW he summons real players.
Place your redsign soapstone in the hallway and he summons you when players try to fight him.

That's not exclusive to dark souls 2 though, it was also the case in DS1.

Gah, you have a point. Thanks for the "how to" though, looking forward to NG+!

He was a pain until I fire storm'd his ass.

I've been spending the past 55 hours making the perfect strength build and because of that, my attunement is at 5... I then had to farm nearly 300,000 souls to get it to 10 just so I can use firestorm.

I've been attempting this strategy through 7 more effigies with never having been able to get his health past 50%. It is driving me absolutely insane. I now need to resort to farming for effigies, or just giving up and moving on.

Welcome to Dark Souls.

Just won a 2v1 PVP in the
bell tower
. Felt great - better than killing any boss. That's for sure.
yep I almost did two duos back to back...was my first time though there, not ganking the spawn point ...not that you were doing that either though, but the hosts are finally getting wise.
If someone places a message too close to an illusionary wall does it make it impossible to activate it?
no ...just tried it...if you cant open even with message there it is 100% troll.
Made it through
Harvest Valley
and just want to know if I missed out on any useful items in the green fog and all that crap. How in the hell are you supposed to stay alive down there?
just use estus, the poison prevent stuff sucks...even with ring on and half a thousand poison resist, I still get poisoned down there...just watch your meter, prepare to die a few times, suicide runs and the like, but dont go so fast that you miss the vendor.....who sets up shop behind a fog of poison!?!?!?!?
So, what's the verdict on ADP? I seem to be doing okay without it.

once you try it you get addicted....have to combo with low equip burden to get the full effect though.
