Damn, i just disconnected when i got invaded, and when i went back online again, i was greeted with this:

ilPzerYKQa3qU.jpg

I had no idea that you would be punished for disconnecting while being invaded. I suck at PvP and i kinda hate being invaded since i pretty much always lose, so so far i have mostly been disconnected when getting invaded. I have probably done it at least 5 times though, so its not just because of one disconnect. It seems that you only get one Bone Of Order too, so if you mess up twice with one character, then you cant summon or be summoned with that character ever again :\
That is awesome.

Am I crazy, or did they really nerf the INT characters this go around?

It seems that tanking really is the way they want you to play the game.
Really? I know it's always easier the second time around because you know what to expect, but I found my going as a mage (first playthrough) much, much easier so far than with my dex. Haven't made a tank yet.

Doesn't count as sin either.
It did for me. If not, I have no idea why my dex has sin, because I never used a cracked eye orb to invade (Bell cov invasions don't count as sin, I had tons under my belt when I met Cromwell and he said I had no sin) and never aggro'd any other NPCs, so it has to be her. Kind of dumb but oh well. Haven't even met any blue invaders in NG+ yet, anyway.

Keeping Lucatiel alive against Lost Sinner in NG+ is no easy task.
After dying once in that fight, I got her to survive right after. I summoned her, and a Sunbro tank, and somehow she made it out alive, and I wasn't even trying to keep her alive specifically. It was pretty cool,
Sunbro was tanking Sinner with his great shield while I took out the pyromancers with my gold pine resin-buffed dual kats, then I spammed pyros on the remaining Sinner to finish it off. Somehow Lucatiel survived the entire deal. When I told my friend he said, "clearly a glitch". LOL.

Dumb broad didn't even enter the fog the first time I fought Flexile in NG+, so I was stuck with a defense-buffed Flexile and his ninjas who all ganked me. ;_; When I got her again, she locked on some invisible enemies (I think the bleeding monsters on the platform above where her sign is) and wouldn't follow me, I had to run back to get her to follow me and then she got stuck somewhere again. Her AI is really piss poor, lol. I remember in NG with my dex I got her for Smelter, then before crossing the fog I made some adjustments to my gear and then entered the fog only to see her plummet down in the lava at the very same time, leaving me alone with a buffed Smelter. It did not go well. xD

So, V
endrick
, how do you beat him?

His tracking swings and very difficult to dodge, especially the sweep; and if I block it basically takes my entire stam bar. I have all the giant souls except the dragon.
I beat him with 4 souls too. That sweep needs to be dodged, not blocked, unless maybe you have a greatshield and tons of stamina. If I blocked it I got my guard broken and then got OHKOed if he did his second swing. But it's not that hard to dodge, just roll sideways (I have 20 ADP, dunno if that helps with i-frames or not... still unclear about Agility). If you mess up you're kind of dead, sadly, since it stunlocks, but it's doable. Just circle strafe and stay on his left leg as much as possible, and manage your stamina cautiously, a few hits at the time. He's challenging but not as bad as the Ancient Dragon, IMO. Then again if you do beat the dragon that will make Vendrick easier, with an extra Giant soul, I imagine.

This part of the game is weird. The time limit + crazy HP and defense on the enemies made me feel like I should just run through it. Can't really say I knew what was going on in any of these
memories
. Maybe I should go back and try to find some loot that I missed, though.

There is some pretty cool stuff there to be found. I thought they were really cool myself, and had a lot of fun fighting the enemies. Certainly better than the enemies on the run up to the A
ncient
D
ragon
.

Guys a question: why would anyone build a complete new charachter? Isnt it better to continue with your existing(in NG+) charachter and invest in other stats?

I'd rather have multiple active characters on the go (within reason) - I like how each one can feel different depending on weapons, Armour, shields, spells, etc - and the choices you need to make based on how you want to spend your stats (instead of just maxing them all).

A large part of the fun for me is the building from scratch and the rise to power, not 'rising to power, then just tweaking from there'.

Then there is a bit of the RP reasons for it:

My warrior is a warrior, true and proud - he don't need no stinking attunement slots or pyromancy flames or spells.

My hexer is nimble, and agile, with a slightly evil bent - her character design, clothing, weapon choice reflect that - she doesn't have the need for bulky shields or heavy armor, and rather focus on faster casting, nimble rolling.

Yes - with enough stats spread around I can technically accomplish both, but out of principal - I'd rather not.

What shortcut?

I know this was pages ago, but she appears in blood gulch
using one of the two drop down areas to access areas that you may not know existed in that zone. The one you can reach her at is closer to the beginning and takes you up to that ledge that has a bunch of statues spitting at you. Look for signs about it or just walk along the edge with a torch to see it.

After that they are dead. Doesn't count as sin either.

People have said different things about this. May be better to let her take the first hit on you since I think that makes it sure that you don't get sin from it.

You don't get fair. You get whatever cheap underhanded tactic I can think of to get you dead so I can continue on my way. Double summons, turning enemies on the invader, fair game.

Well at least you know you are being cheap and underhanded. :3

I remember hating the bellbros till I tried being one. Ever single time I tried to give the host a fair fight they either went for the door or summoned more people. Stopped that shit fast. I do agree with you though. There is no fair in invading or being invaded. I'm more then willing to wait in an area that I've cleared or turn mobs against an invader, and only don't summon more people since I know I can take on most people alone, not out of fairness.

The patron saint of quality characters, the Bandit, ironically ends up being a more efficient STR/FTH class, as it wastes less points in INT (you still need 3 to talk to S
traid
, but those
could be removed with a Soul Vessel
if you want to be really efficient) and ADP (people still haven't decided if it's amazing or shit, but at least you get a decent agility stat via ATT), but picking the Bandit would probably mean a rougher start for my friend.

Knight starts really nice as well. think 2 more points in magic stats then the bandit, but can talk to the guy without needing to respec after.

Yup, I'm exactly the same. I like building them from the ground up and I also have "themed" character for role-playing reasons. I'd use the Soul Vessel for minor tweaks (if at all, so far haven't needed it) at the most, not for a complete respec.

YES! i got rank 3 in rat covenant and got teh ring that disables invasions notifications........it only really worked on one dude but still, the others i think knew i was there. Also shrine of amana still sucks but i made it to the third bonfire yay more asshole magic users! Oh and i'm labeled a sinner for some obscure reason and i get invaded a lot by the assholes of covenant of justice, life sucks.

Quick question: what's the point of using the
Pharros Lockstone's in Grave Of Saints when it just makes those 2 rat statues spew acid?? Was pretty pissed off at wasting them. I did manage to use another that actually lowered a drawbridge, but the connecting bridge is still up on the other side. Bah. Also, was I summoned in this particular area and killed by people who were in the Rat Covenant? I ended up joining to be safe.

Well, just started NG+. I went to Heide first to check if theres more action for the Blue Sentinels on this mode. Basically NG+ seems to be
red phantoms everywhere
.

what is this ring?

Magic is powerful in PvP. PvE IDK.

i think it just takes a while to build up a mage properly. I am starting a "use all but pyro" character right now so that he can catch up to my first character who is mellee dex (with minor pyro but no stats) but she is at halfway or so. It will take a while to run around and collect all the sorceries, get both faith and INT up, and get prepared. Will start with faith as this seems to be accessible earlier than the others.

Yeah careful with the disconnects during invasions. You'll get hosed and won't be able to do co-op (but still can be invaded).

Solution is to sign out of PSN/Live before entering a "popular" zone like Iron Keep or Tower of Flame. Still get to flip the middle finger to Mr./Ms. Ganker and no consequences.

They are traps for the dudes you summon in, kinda shitty traps but still. Phaross is the same way so maybe save your locktones.

Did you ever send back any summoners when you were doing co-op? that counts as sin I think? Though who knows. I checked after I did that one side thing, killed her, and then didn't get sin. Even checked. odd.

It seems that tanking really is the way they want you to play the game.

Tank with a ranged option is definitely the easiest way I've found to play, but there are quite a few bosses that casters can walk all over.

what is this ring?

its the
slumbering
dragon-crest ring. we all know what it does on the surface. But if this guy claims it does what he says it does, he best site a source, there is no indication that it does anything more than what it did in Dark. We all have missed invasion signs before and got ganked, I just thought it was glitchy/lag stuff.

http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Slumbering+Dragoncrest+Ring#.UzH3v86p05Q

Ummm according to the wiki they tried it and the host still gets notified so i'm getting conflicting information.

What info said it was canceling the invasion message? Anyway, unlikely as FROM seems to be trying to prevent ganking of unsuspecting noobs this round.

Maybe in NG+, or if they loosen up the soul memory requirements + have infinite cracked orbs in NG.

Don't think so.

I have a plan but it is limited by cracked red eye orbs...I can however get a good amount of them relatively quickly from the start of the game but once they are gone it is harder.

Dat cognitive dissonance? Get a taste of your own medicine, bro.

I did not coop with this character in NG, except once,
when I had two invaders in Belfry Luna I summoned a phantom,[/quote] and then I entered the fog after taking them out, not knowing it was the boss right away. We killed the boss together so no dismissal from my part.
Maybe something else I did counted as sin, but I can't fathom what it could be...

Can anyone one of you gentlemen's take a screenshot/camera pic of decent quality of the
real Moonlight Greatsword (not the Bluemoon Greatsword)
for me?

Also, I'm currently at the
Shrine of Amana/Demon of Song.
Lost my first attempt, but I'm sure I'll prevail on attempt two.

EDIT - And if you can get the requested weapon's description aswell!

Just wanted to repost this, if anyone could give me a hand.

Maybe it's been mentioned in here already (long OT2 in addition to original OT is hella long), but I'm guessing http://farfire.darksoulsii.com/pc/players/index.html is a site run by From? It would be cool if they would flesh it out to a point where you could pull individual stats for your character.

Also, what is Total Clear, since there are almost 5k on the Xbox 360 and only 5 on the PS3?

You know a game is good when you just THINK about playing it all the time. Playing it is then even better..

Oh man, I wanna go play right now..

I had the Infamous SS CE show up from Amazon last Tuesday, my son has finished it twice, and I have yet to touch it, and have almost no interest in doing so for now. I don't have a ton of gaming time, I think at around 35 hours into DS2 right now, so when I do have time, it's all Souls all the time.

I played a lot of game that i put a lot of hours into, but Dark Souls 2 is the only one that made me think about wanting to play it after I put the controller down as well.

Clear GOTY!
I don't see anything even remotely coming close to dethroning it in the upcoming year, same as when Dark Souls 1 was released.

Same here. This is easily the best game to come out since Dark Souls. It's almost unfair how much better these games are compared to everything else.

So is everyone stopping on 150 for NG+? Im already at that level and Im starting to have a lot of souls...

I don't care about PvP, so I'm just going up and up and up.

Some people piss me off in pvp. I was in NG+ in
huntsman's copse
going toward
the chariot
getting ready to fight the giant group of badass enemies in the way of the bridge when I get invaded by a blue spirit. I shrug it off, wait for the guy to come to me, get rid of 90% of his health.

He then runs into the giant group of badass enemies and heals while I dodge their attacks. Since he healed, I run the fuck away to spread out the enemies chasing my ass(in NG+ you can't lose these particular enemies' aggro no matter how much you run). So, dude chases me a long way, a couple of the 5 or so enemies chasing me fell off cliffs, and we get into a fight again with 3 whip/halberd enemies constantly harassing me. I take out two and bring the guy down to 10% again(He was a large club user that couldn't possibly be easier to dodge, only stuff he hit me with was wrath of the gods), but I'm still dealing with one whip guy. He backs off, and all of a sudden I see "Arbiter spirit has left your world" in the bottom middle of my screen.

Fucking A. Sore loser, not like he had anything to lose.

lmao I wish that ring did disable notifications for invading. It would be the most HILARIOUS troll ever.

Imagine someone wearing that ring and going chameleon. It would scare the shit out of people hahahaha.

Yeah I saw it on the wiki and decided to get rank 3 in the Rat Covenant for it, sounded amazing.

I tested it 3 times, messaging people after I invaded. They all said they still got a notification when I invaded.

So of course I changed what it said on the wiki so people don't get hyped up about it like I did! :(

Are there downsides to losing as an invader in this game?

I know as a red spirit the only thing that happens is that you leave a bloodpool with your souls where you used a cracked red eye orb, which is generally next to the bonfire. You stay human. Gray spirit loses nothing at all.

eh, seriously?
I dashboard a few times & didn't see any penalty.

Somewhere a few years ago I read on the internet where someone said, "I don't come to your house to fuck your dog!" I'm still not sure what it meant, but I apply it to invaders when I use dirty tactics to against them.

So i'm reading through the guide book and who though doing all that shit to get the pickaxe was funny? how can anyone in their right mind think putting something at
1/1000 chance to get an item assuming the pig doesn't die
is a good idea?

Vaguely remember pre-release fluff outlining how invaders would face greater punishment for losing - not only sin but hollowfication, etc. Either it never materialized or it was greatly exagerated. Sin is a reward for PVP-minded players, as far as I'm concerned.

That is awesome.
Yeah, its good thing that they have a mechanism for this in place indeed. I still think it kinda sucks that you cant turn it off though, since getting invaded can be just as annoying as it is for the invader to get a disconnecting message, in my opinion (getting far in a level, get killed and you have to start over again from the last bonfire and maybe lose your souls if die before recovering them, that can be pretty annoying. Playing offline is possible of course, but then you're leaving out all other online stuff like seeing messages and co-op). I love the invasion idea in general though, it makes the game feel more "alive" (or what i shall say), eventhough that i personally dont always like to be invaded at random times.

Luckily invasions zrent that common besides a few areas though, so i guess its not really a big problem with the random summonings. But invasion is a part of the game, even if i dont like it that much, so i think its good that they have a mechanism that tries to prevent manual disconnections from happening. Oh well, i learned my lesson the hard way, so i wont disconnect again even if i find it to be annoying sometimes :)

Doesnt that somewhat defeats the purpose if you can be invaded even after getting banned? Unless you care about co-op, you can just keep disconnecting. But i guess this is the best solution since i assume that the majority of Dark Souls 2 players want to do some co-op, or at least have it available if needed. I like that they have this in place, especially because it prevents rage quits in arranged PvP. Can you still do arranged PvP in the convenants if you get banned by the way?

eh, seriously?

See my post here:

You probably have to disconnect at least 5+ times. I'm unsure what it counts it for. I sometimes disconnected in co-op too since the NPC died and i didnt want to miss the trophy. I dont know if it counts towards that too. But yeah, its best to avoid it. I definitelly wont disconnect any more times. That "ban" scared me a bit :)

I'm loving the sin I've racked up, that's for sure. But nah, the only covenant you actually lose anything for dieing is Rat Covenant. Unless the Blue spirits lose something. Which I doubt.

On the other hand, though, they made red eye orbs difficult as hell to get so invasions are absurdly limited(Till you murder a ton of NPCs before NG+). So yeah, as with most the pre-release stuff with this game, this too seems to be fluff. Which I'm not too pissed about because there are a lot of things to like about what they made(And I was mostly on media blackout).

Anyone on 360 have a black steel katana they would be willing to trade or just give away? I'm stuck with my uchigatana right now and I've completely farmed the area. PM please. (I'm SL 118 atm)

I hope the NPC in
Shrine
of
Amana
isn't important. After I killed the boss I got sick of her
singing
and killed her. Was it the same vocal as Queen of Latria?

The boss of that area was both super easy and super creepy, one of the oddest in any Souls game I think, so far they've been pretty tame or reruns of previous ideas, but this was.... odd!

I haven't found the areas from Drangleic Castle onwards that interesting actually, I've kind of just done what needed to be done and got through them. I was surprised by the design of
Velstadt - obvious nod to Garl Vinland.
And I had a theory after seeing
the Queen
that she was
Gwynevere
, I even tried shooting a soul arrow to see if it was
an illusion!
, either it didn't reach or you can't attack her.

I guess to follow up on my previous question regarding bernhart, would it be unwise to fight
the rotten
3 times for lucatiels quest?

I go back re-watch and see things I missed while I was playing. I do take issue with the inability to see the whole interconnectedness, although the ocean is on the right side, the depth is off....you should still be able to see ocean when facing out from the 2nd forest bonfire, for example. It would be interesting to see the collision map for this game. Would be cool to be able to see the lost Bastille off in the ocean somewhere...maybe I missed it, but I did check and couldn't see it, nor did I see the rest of Drangleic anywhere from the Bastille. maybe you guys with the CE can let us know what you think of the accuracy of the wall map.

People though the same about Dark Souls 1, but when the PC version appeared, people hacked into the files & were able to view all the levels & they were indeed all connected.
Can't find that video, but it was something like this

I wouldn't doubt Dark Souls 2 is the same, after all, there is no load times whatsoever if you were to walk to all the areas.

will check later.
