Man, I need to beat last boss first to buy them? Boo.

Just beat Undead Crypt and sounds of bells is ringing in my head.

I think she sells them before, just not an infinite amount. Depends how much you need, I guess!

Out of curiosity are there any Sickles(classified reaper in-game) that have completely physical damage base besides the Full Moon sickle? Just looked into the
Brother of Blood
one and that turns out to do magic damage, and the
Silverback
sickle does dark damage.

The swing motion on these things is awesome, but the full moon one swings slow.

Great Machete and maybe Bone Scythe?

After I beat the last boss, I can still finish up some other quests too right? Like the Bernhart one?

You can do some, but not that one I think? I think to complete his you need to do
Last Giant with him and then the last boss. I think people are talking about it in posts above?

I keep reading about people using +10 flame greatswords, etc. Do you only want to infuse if you're not getting a good benefit from the stat scaling?

Example: I have a +10 Gyrm Great Hammer. It has A strength scaling. I have 40 strength. If I infuse it with lighting or fire, will it be better or worse?

Sorry if this is obvious to others.

lol, wow.

Just beat the Royal Rat Vanguard. Industry standard boss design here ppl.

Heh I actually liked that fight in concept--swarmed by a colony of nasty brutes makes sense considering the area but you needed more rats with more speed on them to make it justly terrifying. As is, they're a small nuisance to dispatch.

Best part about the Rat covenant is hanging out on the cliffside edge in Doors of Pharros constantly throwing "Hello" and "I'm Sorry" carvings down at the person as they run through your traps

But that's how you got into the castle!

There's so many guys at the beginning, I was fighting them all over the place... I thought they were activating like DMC doors, had no idea it was only because I was close... +, there's no distance thing with the torch golems in the basement right?

Your spoiler is kinda funny and you will see why if you go back into the boss room after hitting a bonfire. =)

EDIT: Just re-read your post and I think you already know what I'm talking about. Im a doof.

I haven't actually done it yet but it's been mentioned once or twice or fifty times unspoilered in the thread :P

Yeah, I really liked it as well. They took a existing enemy and turned it into a cool boss. It seems to be annoying a lot of people though.

It's usually a worse idea in cases like that. A scaling + 40 STR is pretty good. The problem with going fire or lightning is that 1. it splits the damage 2. the scaling 'might' drop from A to something lower and 3. fire and lightning scale with other stats in this game.

For a 'pure str' weapon it's not that recommended. I made my Crypt Blacksword 'dark' because I didn't care about the Str scaling and the dark scaling went up to S so it ends up doing more damage. I made Throne Defenders sword into Lightning because it's on a Faith build and the sword gains an S scaling in lightning damage (which scales with Faith) so it ends up doing more.

Huh, I see that they're reaper weapons, but do they have the same swing motion as the sickles? Or do they have the Great Scythe swing? Completely different between them.

Ah, sorry, haven't tried either haha. Possibly no.

Torch golems + all the doors in that room work the same way, but it's easier to activate those I guess.

yes.

Hm, where is the
Bernhart's summon point for Giant Lord? I spoken to him at the place after the first Pursuer boss.

It won't show up if you summon
Lord Drummond
. It is down the stairs near the broken entrance. You might need to finish M
emory of Orro
first, though.

I'm not liking how some of the late game areas are rather challenging and then the bosses are a joke:

Dragon Rriders, Looking Glass Knight, Demon of Song and Velstadt have all been really easy.

Btw, I got the
King's Ring
.... what Now? Also
The king was a big hollow which does not attack you, but you can target him. Is there any reward for killing him?

I played it safe and killed them close to it.

Okay, here's a question for stat-GAF. I've been playing regularly with the Archdrake Robes as my main armor. I've been trying to get to the merchant in
Drangleic Castle
and there's a small room with two enemies after climbing up a ladder that I'm having trouble getting through. So I thought "hey, I'll pop on Havel's Armor and tank their hits so I can kill them quicker." Except I did that and, despite have 200 more defense than my regular robes, their attacks do the exact same amount of damage.

What's going on here?

I've read that
Bernhart will give you his equipment in Memory of Orro, but i have only beaten two bosses with him. I'm scared that i will speak to him too soon, resulting in it being too late to get the trophy (like what happends if you speak with Lucatiel in Aldia's Keep if you havnt beaten at least 3 bosses with her staying alive). The Giant Lord is in Memory of Jeigh, its not where Drummond is. Or am i missing something?

Go open the king's doors. Shaded Woods forked path~ Also you can kill him more easily later. You can get his soul to make some weapons and his armour.

Defense isn't worth much in this game.

I couldn't hold out for the PC version as I don't know where I'll be at, at that point in time of release and decided to just download this on the PS3. It's almost done now, I beat Dark Souls on the 360 and PC but am not a huge fan by any means. Is there anything I should be aware of? Tips and the like? Also, is there any compatibility issues using the PS4 controller?

You're introduced to that mechanic multiple times before that point, so it really isn't obtuse at all.

It's better than it was in DkS1, that's for sure.

In Dark souls I, heavy armor at least gave you poise. Now poise is worthless unless you run in a full set of havel's armor. Defense is noticeable, but still not huge.

To answer your spoiler tagged questions...
Now that you have the King's Ring, you can enter those big gates that you couldn't enter before, such as the one in Drangleic Castle. There are two more, one in the Forest of Fallen Giants and another in the Shaded Woods...this is the first one you'll want to go down. As for killing the king...yes, you get some reward for killing Vendrick (his soul and armor set), but I won't go into detail on that now that you know where to go next.

For people wondering how to complete the character questlines here's the order to do hem in.

Summon and keep her alive against Smelter Demon
Talk to he in Black Gulch
Summon and keep her alive against The Rotten
Talk to he in Aldias Keep
*you only need to keep her alive in 3 of the 4 fights, so it doesn't matter if she dies once.

Benhardt:
Talk to him before Shaded Woods (before unpetrifying Rosabeth)
Talk to him before Shaded Woods (after unpetrifying Rosabeth)
Summon and keep him alive against Dark Magus + Congress

I took the Giant's soul in Memory of Orro before returning to Orro for Benhart as well.

Great. So what you're saying is that I should ignore stats and just play Fashion Souls with my armor because that's all it's good for?

You'll see some difference in damage taken, but generally something that'll kill you in Havel's will kill you in a robe.

Fashion Souls (considering weight) >>> all, anyways.

Not necessary.

You can run past the 3 gray phantom Keepers on the way to the ladder. Once up top the tower, kite around the 2 dudes who aggro after getting up the ladder. You can do so without aggroing the other 2 gray phantoms up here. Then you can pull the lever to ring the bell and challenge the area boss. You only need to do this once, so even if you die thereafter, you can just run for the mist door.

No cable pulling necessary, really.
Heh, on NG+ I got invaded and
ran up there and rang it. I think the guy was actually being semi-considerate and letting it get rung, although that was by throwing a poison cloud at me rather than trying to back stab or whatever. Though there was that prostration gesture afterwards when I died in the fight afterwards.

Thanks, will keep this post bookmarked for my next play through. I got Lucatiel killed, possibly?, but was able to resummon her later so I don't know what's up with that. I also missed various dialogue options with her.

Bernhardt helped me with one boss, but I'm too far into the game to get his.

Benhardt is definitely not like that. I talked to him all those times, but I did all his boss fights after speaking with him Orro,
I had him help me with the MK once and the Congregation+Magus twice
, after that I went back to Orro and talked to him again, and he gave me his stuff.

I agree but it isn't the case with the Greatsword (and probably many other weapons). One of the great benefits of going elemental is to troll PvP players who love to block. 200+ dmg through a shield is no joke lol. Here is the breakdown:

My Greatsword +10 with 40 STR I was doing 400base and ~150 from the scaling for a total of 550 DMG. With the flame buff I would do 50 fire and additional 30% fire dmg for a total of 615dmg.

Now the Flame Greatsword +10 I am doing 280phys, 280 fire with ~60 phys and 20 Fire from scaling = total 640 damage. So at FIRE +10 we are already doing more damage than the physical build WITH buff. Now we add the buff :)

With the Flame Weapon buff, we add 50 fire dmg and 30% increase to fire damage. We are at 340 Phys and 455 Fire damage. For a total of 795 one handed damage :) Like I said, it does 200DMG on block :)

PS. Screw the Crypt Blacksword -- I'll take longer range and less stamina consumption with equivalent damage.

Thanks to the both of you! :)

Lol, I think upgrading armor helped me. But I think if you dodge a lot, no need for defence, I guess.

Yeah, I'm generally a dodger in the first place. It's just the particular room is tiny and it's two enemies with spears so it's basically climb up ladder -> roll -> die anyway.

You'll see some difference in damage taken, but generally something that'll kill you in Havel's will kill you in a robe.

Fashion Souls (considering weight) >>> all, anyways.

I've finally found a low-weight headpiece that I really like:
Dragon Acolyte Mask
looks nifty and badass as fuck with the Archdrake Robes, which I also really like.

Problem is I wear the damn Jester's Cap instead 90% of the time for the item drop bonus. Gah.

EDIT: I don't know why I spoilered one piece of equipment but not the other two? I'm weird like that.

. Fuck. That. Motherfucker. It took me like, an hour to beat him. I got him down to a third of his HP the first time I fought him, then i kept doing terrible. It took me a while to figure out that
unlike EVERY OTHER sword+shield enemy in the game, strafing toward his weapon hand is much more effective when trying to get behind him. That shield is just too heavy.

Benhardt is definitely not like that. I talked to him all those times, but I did all his boss fights after speaking with him Orro,

For me he wouldn't move from his current location unless I summoned him for the next boss fight, and I couldn't summon him for the boss fights until I talked to him in those areas. So now I don't know if it's supposed to do that or my games messed up :/

I guess people have corrected you a bit on the Benhardt bit, that isn't totally accurate. Another thing I wanted to add though, is that
if you've already killed a boss without completing their "survival" requirement, you can use a bonfire ascentic to try again on the same playthrough. Also there is no "order" for Lucatiel, she'll appear in any of those locations in any order. For example, on NG+ my first fight I called her in was the Black Gulch/Rotten boss. And one last tip to anyone going for those achievements...you can buy the Redeye ring from the cat in Majula to have enemies aggro you if your NPCs are being stupid and dying too easily.

This makes me very happy. Thought it would take longer to start punishing people for disconnects.
I'm kind of iffy due to timing sometimes being complete bullshit, especially when the invaders aren't considerate enough to allow you to tend to whatever you're actively doing.

Perhaps they should introduce a limited use "get the fuck out of my world!" item, IE you're just trying to do some covenant stuff or you KNOW you're about to reach a bonfire, and don't want some motherfucker ruining it for you.

EDIT: Also it can't work on those you voluntarily bring in such as Dragon/Red Signs, and perhaps not specific areas designed around that such as the Bell or Rat Covenants (though I can't see why you'd want it for Rat anyway given the nature of it.) Maybe even kick out everyone summoned period to be a heavy cost if you really want people out that badly.

Alright. I'm starting to have to think about my stats more so I was gonna come here for advice. Level 87, focusing on a strength/dex build.

VGR - 22
END - 21
VIT - 20
ATN - 10
STR - 32
DEX - 20
ADP - 5
INT - 5
FTH - 5

Advice?
