Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Thought I'd try the Gargoyles this morning. Went in to the Belfry Luna - started having a lovely chat with that little fella by the door, got invaded while talking - couldn't join the covenant because i was invaded - cast a pyromancy to defend myself from the invader, aggroed the NPC - no Bell Covenant for me ;_;

Would a Bonfire Aesthetic respawn the NPC or is there an easier way to get him back?

There is another bell with another midget you can speak

That is some disgusting trollish shit from FROM if it never ends. It's kinda brilliant but fuck that. Glad I read about it. I don't need that crap.

an NPC invading you a couple of times is so much bad? come on, people get upset by stupid thing for nothing.

btw 300 cast speed is the bomb. Thank you based lion mage set.

Does the casting speed increase when improved? I'm not seeing a huge difference and the armor value is so low I'm tempted to go back to upgraded Bone King set.

My spells wreck, but I can take a max of two hits before I'm dead.

Hey guys. Just killed the last 'big soul' demon last night and am about to enter Drangleic castle. However, I heard there's a game breaking bug at the entrance.

Does anyone know how to avoid it? Obviously I'm deathly afraid for my 60 hour game, having to start all over again now would suck...

They said it never stops. I don't need that when I clear out an area and just wanna explore. If you can confirm it stops after a while, then I take it back.

Didn't hear of a bug there. Spoiler for the solution.

Kill enemies near the statues in from of the door in order to open the gates and to stop enemies from spawning.

I pulled the lever and
have been invaded by him about 3 times now but he's never been able to kill me? Thought he would be harder to kill..

trigger the left statue first. that's supposed to prevent the bug from happening.

more detailed:
you need to kill the enemy near the left statue so the soul will be drawn into it and activate it. afterwards you need to do the same with the right statue. there is usually an endless stream of soldiers spawning, so don't worry if you don't get it down right away.

To be honest there is messages all over the floor telling you not to pull it.
Anyway if you want forbidden sun pyro spell you will not set him free.

But that made me want to pull it

:(

The trick to killing that guy is really easy. Get close to him and you win. Hit him once, he'll start to cast a spell, but you can regen your stamina fully before it gets off. Hit him once -> regen stamina -> hit him once -> regen stamina, etc, til he dies

Now dual wielding a Lightning Claymore in my right hand and a Poison Longsword in my left. It's kind of fucked up how fast the swings come out when they are combo'd together.

But I love it!

Dual wielding is super fast. But I prefer using a shield or two-hand my weapons.

I cooped with a guy who had dual Greatswords lol

He invade you seven times. Even if he invade you countless times is an NPC. Not a portal who bring infinite red phantom in your world.

The message on the floor are there for a good reason

That sounds better. But I don't wanna lose that pyro spell now.

Can anyone recommend a stats plan to turn my Bandit into a magic/DEX hybrid (open to what type of magic)? I have 139 points to allocate (to SL150) with the following starting stats:

VGR - 9
END - 7
VIT - 11
ATT - 2
STR - 9
DEX - 14
ADP - 3
INT - 1
FAI - 8

Guessing I need to take DEX to 40 but beyond that I'm clueless? Don't know what's best between magic, miracles or hexes (or some hybrid). Any recommendations from someone with a DEX/magic build would be appreciated!

He's still a weak punishment for people who disconnect. He need to invade you infinite times and be more strong than that.

Do what the devs did to people playing Dark Souls well before release date. Invade with pimped out characters and hunt them down.

Then again, if they're notorious for disconnecting then I suppose it wouldn't help.

I'm level 90 or so and can get one or two shot by most enemies... really starting to feel the strain of spreading my stats across INT, FTH, and ATT.

I would feel a lot stronger if I could upgrade any of my stuff. My pyro flame is only +4, Idol's Chime +0 and Sunset Staff +1. I really need twinkling. I'm headed to Old
Iron King
; I think I got the twinkling at the
Macduff
chest but I'm not sure if I got any others. Anyone think of twinkling I might have missed?

Soul Vortex sucks. Sorcery gets amazing once you have great magic weapon, homing soulmass, soul spear, and some great soul arrows. I really don't think pure INT is a great build in this game. A hybrid like INT/DEX makes you much well rounded.

I love Soul Vortex :c It's a bit hard to use at times but it can do a lot of damage and you can use the spell a decent amount, unlike Soul Spear and Soul geyser... The Soulmass spells are kinda eh to me, the range been really nerfed... and maybe it just me but it doesn't do a whole lot of damage either.

I'm pretty sure the crystal lizards in B
rightstone
C
averns
drop some twinkling.

if be funny if From would automatically release "him" from his cell if the player did to many disconnects.

Who's "HIM"?

I keep hearing people say that sorcery is a bit if a let down this time round? Is that the general consensus?

Seems to be the case. You can focus on Pyromancy or go Faith instead. Don't forget the attunement slots.

While I haven't tried a Sorcery build it seems there is many more magics this time around and especially different looks to the same soul arrow of previous games. I've also summoned in sorcerers that have just wrecked a boss that I barely touched.

Dex to 40, ATN to whatever number gets you 2 or 3 slots for spells depending on how many you think you will want, STR up if needed to equip your weapon of choice, I would raise VIG and END to 20, and then VIT to whatever gives your gear less than 70%, and the rest in INT/FAI

I'm literally losing my patience for G
iant
L

fight

His AoE for the sword is fucking ridiculous, everyone says he doesnt hit you if your by his left foot but yet here I'm getting stunned and 2-shot killed by the sword being close to his left foot

So are there there any longterm negative effects for killing any of the old ladies in Things Betwixt besides the respec one? I restarted and killed them for the heck of it and noticed that they drop a bunch of human effigies.

Also, who is Vengarl and why is his name in the OT title?

Thanks for the tip. I have beaten that boss, so i have that item. What about for sorcery, what is the best item for that? My INT level is 54, while my FTH level is just 16.

Not sure. I was mostly using a Sunset Staff beforehand for Soul magic. I like the look of it and has good scaling and decent soul base damage and seems like very good base damage for hexes. However has slightly slower spell cast speed then the default staff. Haven't really found anything better yet currently. But I'm no longer doing soul magic right now, so I stopped looking really.

You have committed a Sin, from what I know. You should be getting Blue invaders.

I started a DEX character recently and was really frustrated with it. Falchion is a decent weapon, until you have to fight a heavy armored enemy. I was destroying everything with a Mace+3, but couldn't do shit with a Falchion+6. And I was trying a DEX focused character, so I had only 9 STR to handle the Large Leather Shield, and with low ADP the roll really sucks.

Yesterday I finally was able to get my ADP high (30+), so now I'm able to dodge things with some consistency, but the Falchion still is the best curved sword I could get (I heard that rapiers are nice for armored enemies, but I really don't like the moveset and it takes a long time to be able to get the Ricard Rapier). I'm able to pass through things, I'm not dying a lot (most bosses I defeat at first try), but I still feel underpowered compared to a STR build.

I gave up and started incresing my STR for Murakumo and the Curved Dragon Greatsword for late game. Curved Greatsword apparently are the way to go with DEX builds, unfortunately. I wrecked shit with my Falchion on DaS1 :(

And I spent my Flexile Sentry soul on that terrible Warped Sword, only to find out that the Arced Sword is WAY better.

Anyone else had this kind of experience with DEX builds?

Counts as sin, which will get you more invasions as well as targeted by the Blue Sentinels you sinner.

Also, human effigies drop like candy in this game for me. Maybe hard to come by early on. But I now have 20+ near end of the game. Mostly from the S

It's less clunky than before, but the hexes and pyromancy are more exciting to use. I was a little bored at first when I just had a bunch of soul arrows to work with. Now I have hexes, pyros, and sorceries attuned, with 3 catalysts to juggle between and a fire longsword or binocoulars in my other hand. It's a fun build. The resonant soul hexes are starting to get pretty good. But my guy is very fragile. And even with the hexer's robe for extra casts, I never feel like I have enough magic.

Ah, just unlocked Doors of Pharros so I'm almost there.

I guess I should feel glad it was on my messing around character of no real consequence. Didn't know about the whole sinner thing, so I guess I won't be striking any npcs.

Haven't reached that area yet. Just reached
Drangelic Castle
. Is that before or after?
