Very early in and getting frustrated. Where should I go from here?

I'm getting my ass handed to me by those three tall, skinny knights in Bastille. I've already taken out the forest giant as well as the dragonslayer from Dark Souls 1. I don't have enough HP to go down the hole in Majula. Where else can I go or do I need to kill the knights now? Any tips? I'm SL 52 and these guys are pretty much impossible for me for some reason.

Try a strike weapon like the mace or club against those Knights, or, you could go somewhere else-

the miracle merchant you met in Heide will move to Majula after you exhaust her dialogue. She will be by that contraption that you couldn't move before. She can move it and open the path to a different area
. There's also another, easier boss in
Heide
that you didn't mention.

That was definitely the most challenging fight for me up until that point in the game. I had to summon an NPC and another player to beat them. No shame.

As for where else you can go
try talking with the miracle merchant near the 2nd bonfire in Heide until she moves to Majula. When she does, find her and she'll open up a new path for you to go.

In the Tower of Flame there is a second (and easy) boss, beat him and there is another route for you to go on that is easier.

So guys what would u say its the best element to infuse your weapon with? I hear dark is pretty good because it most of the enemies have no resitance to it, i maybe wrong heard in a forum.

Thanks for the help! I'll check out that new path that opened up. I remember seeing her in Majula and just totally forgot about it. I'll flee from those knights for now. :)

Yeah, binoculars actually work pretty well. Catalyst in left hand, Binoculars in right. You can keep holding down R1 and aim while you shoot. There's no reticle; your spells pretty much go straight and center.

I wouldn't say that the lion mage set is required for caster pvp either. At least, the hexer's hood is more valuable to me for the extra cast than the small speed boost from the mage hood.

Is resonant weapon much better than dark weapon?

Yeah the hexer's hood is pretty damn good.
I would think resonant weapon is much better, takes up 2 slots, costs souls, and has a higher stat requirement. But I'm a sorcery caster though, haven't really tested the hexes.

Forget the exact numbers, but yeah, from what I remember.

Having an extra Great Resonant Soul or Dark Fog is more important, though.

Thanks. Yeah, the 2 slots are killer. Maybe I will put my fire longsword on the darknight path instead though.

Man, it sucks as a caster when the host dies to the boss and you respawn in your world without your casts refilling.

I keep getting disconnected from multiplayer when trying to invade using a cracked red eye orb and it's getting really annoying because I have to quit out of the game and reload every single time. I don't understand what's wrong with it; I don't have a problem in other covenants when I'm summoned or whatever.

My greatest disappointment with this game is that there are only
4 Bonewheel Skeletons
in the whole game. :'(

god those things trolled the hell out of me back in DS

I've officially become a Dark Souls troll.

Today I decided to finally try my hand at invading. I tried out a few different areas, and the highlight was when I invaded a guy in
Aldia's Keep
. He ran in a full set of Havel's armor, and instead of attacking him I just spammed "I'm Sorry!" over and over again. And since that first area is circular I just ran around in a circle spamming it as he chased me and tried to kill me.

Eventually I ran through (and he chased me through) an area that triggered a bunch of enemies and he had to retreat, so I used a Chameleon spell and turned myself into a table and just hid for a little bit. When he found me he started chasing me again but I stayed as a table so now there's this guy in full armor chasing a table around the room. After enough fuckery he ran into the enemies again and started to get overwhelmed, so I turned back to normal and killed him, and then spammed "I'm Sorry!" until I left his world.

Most fun I've had all game.

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, but are people staying at a particular SL? To get my character optimal I'm aiming for around 160,but I'm afraid I won't be able to co-op if that's too high (esp. once I hit NG+ and NG++).

Was soooo close
to keeping Lucatiel alive during Smelter Demon. Finished off the Smelter Demon, but will probably have to use an escetic when facing Gutter so i can get that trophy
.

Still rolling with a magic mace. Damn it does damage, but I'm hoping I'll find something with better reach (like a "bastard sword" type hammer).

As far as I know, SL plays less of a part in matchmaking as it's more concerned with your soul memory. On top of that I believe restrictions on soul proximity are lifted once you hit NG+ as it's sort of a free-for-all between anybody that's reached that point. I haven't gotten there yet but that's how I understand it works.

150 should be fine. I had no problems being invaded/invading/summoning/etc in ng+.

As for a hammer, you're going to have to hit up the large club or its ilk. Was hoping for a Mirdan Hammer equivalent with all the DeSouls nods the game has, but alas, even the Archdrake Hammer uses the regular halberd moveset. :(

Made it to
Dragon Shrine. Didn't have too much trouble with the dragons. They were kinda weak. Pretty assholish to put those exploding guys around. They broke a ring when I missed. Expensive to repair.
also, I didn't pull the lever!

Do we know yet how the damage scaling works on the dark pyro glove? Is it a set amount like HP Lost to hollowing=Damage gained, or is it percentage based or based off how many times you die?

i actually pulled the
lever
and kinda regret it. that
asshole keeps invading me everywhere. last time i selected the wrong bonfire and ported somewhere in drangleic. i tried to port away when that guy wouldn't even let me use the bonfire. i had to clear some knights and go search for him as he kept moving. finally found him while he was enjoying an acid bath. had to snipe him a couple of times to get him out of there. what a pain.

Those 4 legged creatures in No Man's Wharf are a thing of nightmares lol... and extremely annoying to fight. Any good tips on that one part where there's like 6 of em in one spot?
Try torch, therefore torch

Oh i'm totally killing
ancient dragon and then vendrick, also dark lurker comes to mind but man that dungeon cost fucking sucks, 1 effigy per run?! the fuck

I like that you don't immediately go to NG+, means I can do a couple of unfinished things (Ancient Dragon, sigh) and kill the NPCs I have left (just Emerald Herald, blacksmith and Straid, lol)

I need a break from this game after I do the dragon, it's been such a tedious slog at times. Want to do a Strength/Faith build eventually so that I can actually get to use 95% of the equipment I never could during my this sorcerer playthrough.

I had 84 human effigies by the time I finished this playthrough and I used probably at least a dozen, they don't seem super rare, and I don't know if you get them for any covenant stuff online, this was all offline single player.

I killed the bosses in
Throne of Want
. Nothing happened. That was all there is?

WTF? I only have like 6 now and I didn't even use that many. They hardly drop for me.

I did, nothing there. Am I supposed to get something for something to happen?
Walk towards the back of the arena where it looks like an inaccessible doorway to trigger the cutscene.

Honestly, I killed the first one and then I was exploring the area and fell off the edge (didn't see the drops during the fight!), went back to get my souls noticed the fog door was up, went back through and got the second boss.

edit - looks like the giant trees are important. I'd already done all that so it just happened for me. :)

Huh, I walked to all the edges. Hopefully it's not glitched. I'll try again tomorrow.

You need to access the memories of the giant trees in the word, you get a item there that unlocks the final boss, oh and you need to pull the lever

Where do I do that?

Ahh ok, so I won't have to worry about going too high then.

Bah, that's what I was worried about. I'll get up to the large club then I guess.
