so, my soul memory is like 1.2mil. I'll never be able to summon/be summoned now will I? I played a ton of PVP...

Mine was 5038573. I noticed as soon as I uses used the bonfire ascetic immediately tons of new summon signs showes up. I want to say it puts your soul level in a bracket to where you should be able to play with others. If it starts to lower, per summon maybe new game + or bone fire ascetic the area.

21+ points though, man? You really think having those 21+ points in VIG for example wouldn't be better than an extra iframe or two? Or 21+ more points into STR & DEX (or VIT or END, whatever)?

I took ADP all the way to 38 on a build and am now using a build with no added ADP and not seeing jack for difference. If the difference is there (and it's hilarious that it's even a question if it does anything, let alone something important) it's so slight as to in no way warrant spending the souls on it over something else.

NO, NO, NO to ADP.
Agreed. I'm SL 115 or so and my ADP is 10. I may not be able to chug an Estus quite as quickly as I'd like but it hasn't been enough of an issue to really bother me.

I'm SL 185+, SM 3.5 million-ish, still NG and I can do plenty of summons/PVP. I'm mostly limited to the later sections of the game, Drangleic castle is still gold for me, esp since that area is kinda a hub around the 1st bonfire based upon who/what you want to go. Other areas like S
hrine
of A
mala
or U
ndead
C
rypt
have less success with being summoned. But I'd think that might be because fewer players. Being in sunbro covenant helps here too to increase chances I think.

PvP areas like the Belfry towers or Rat areas are still working fine.

Is co-op down currently? I can see bloodstains and messages, but no summon signs. When I try to place mine it instantly comes up saying it's failed to place my sign.

Tried re-loading the game, no dice.

Was phantom range as bad in Dark Souls 1? Didn't play much PvP before 2. It really doesn't seem like it was as bad.

At least lagstabs aren't near as common, but those still occur sometimes too.

"beat" the game, killing the "last" boss, I'm trying do decide if going to NG+ right away or doing some stuff
like killing Vendrick
, I mainly want to get more of the lore but I don't know, I heard that in NG+
there are more enemies, items and therefore descriptions, so maybe there is also something more about the story

I'd say it's worth it for
Big V (you get some cool loot in Shrine of Amana after you kill him, plus his boss weapons are cool)
, but skip
Ancient Dragon
.

haha, what happened? Did the invader try to search you the "host" out, or just attacked you two "summoners" (as appeared to him)

I really want to get a White Ring. That be fun to try out.

He must not have known about the white ring, because he kind of tried to avoid both of us while looking for the host. :)

Just curious if anyone has ran into any bow/cross bow gear that gives +dmg to ranged attacks or speeds up arrow draw time.

Only thing I found was the Hawk ring that increases arrow range.

I've fought against a few people in PvP that had a sword that sent out shockwaves/laser blasts as an attack. Does anybody know what sword that is?

Also, do only invasion victories count toward the
Brotherhood of Blood
covenant of you're a member I the covenant when you invade? I assume so.

Curved Dragon Greatsword has a shockwave attack that can catch a bunch of fools off guard. I've been using that + Darkdrift Katana in PvP.

Wait.
Who was the actual traitor? I killed Pate thinking it was him, however the key that the other guy gives me as a reward led to a trap.

Be wary of miscreant.

I'm not sure, but
I feel like they're both shady.

Think I might go on a NPC killing spree myself just to get an increased invasion rate for NG+ to see what that's like.

Keep in mind that while sin does carry over to NG+, you cannot be absolved for it there. It's on your permanent record, so to speak.

I've only fought against two people who used it and it's just a matter of hitting a few times and dodging out. There's enough warning if you're careful.

Yea I catch it every once and awhile

I'm sick of some of these builds I've run into that are pretty much magic spammers and old sun ring. I've found a way to troll them at this point tho

also I'm loving these dedicated servers where I'm out of range and I still get hit by the sword. It's lovely

Mine has been like that since yesterday. By quitting and restarting several I was able to be summoned twice today. Though I only have seen one summon sign on the floor. PS3 here.

Going from 20 to 40 VGR adds 400 HP. You can easily take that much damage or more in a single hit if you get hit during a dodge roll. So if it adds up to even one less hit taken, it's well worth it.

Now how much those added iframes help out is going to depend on your playstyle. If you can get by blocking our dodging out of attacks, the extra iframes are probably unneeded. But for some builds, you have to dodge into attacks to have a chance to attack, and for that you want all the iframes you can get. Especially since certain attacks have variable delays and long Windows where they can damage you.

Well we don't even know that adp increaces iframes right now. Some people think it does but that could be due to other factors like equip load, good timing, etc. All we know right now is it increases agility which helps with performing actions. I think it helps you use consumables faster when agility is at 95-100. But I have 95 agility on my character and I recover slightly faster than I did when I was at base but not enough to make me think I need to pump more points into adp. I honesly wouldn't go over 100 agility. I'd rather do more damage or have more stamina or hp.

But there's nothing you can do with high ADP you cannot do with low ADP that I can see, just that higher ADP opens certain timing windows sooner, or makes them larger - but you're only talking .5 seconds here and 1 or 2 frames there, you can adjust to that easily (if people can adjust to BF4's netcode they can adjust to low ADP lol); so why not make the miniscule timing adjustment yourself (not dissimilar from the adjustment you'd make having 400 less HP, for instance), and then buff yourself elsewhere?

I dunno I go back and forth with it all the time. I do think ADP has advantages (at least I think I do, ha!), just, again, they're so goddamn slight it feels like the 20-30 points you'd ideally dump into it would be WAY better somewhere else.

I mean if your load is under 60% you're a damn ninja agility-wise anyway; I'd rather bump my INT & STR to get 30+ points worth of extra damage on a STR-based Dark weapon than have some possibly-indiscernible iframe advantages.

Yeah man this is a good point, I think. Again I go back and forth with it. I guess I'm just in the mood to be a naysayer today, :)

You receive every spare soul level you used after your starting class's base level, but you have to reallocate all those points. You can't respec at SL150 back to SL100, for example.

Thanks. I wanted to keep leveling past 150 to beat NG+, and then delevel for staying in PvP/Coop ranges...
Not that I feel the need of leveling more to beat NG+, but Im starting to have so much souls and I dont know what to do with them.

I've run into a few people who use this AoE hex that has a ridiculously long startup and delivery. It gives me enough time to dodge out and fully cast Flame Swathe to kill them before they can even move again. I don't know why people would use it.

As for the sword thing, yeah I'd say a good third of my melee duels I've lost because of a hit or several that I swore shouldn't have hit me. Hit boxes are pretty funky and really need to be patched.

The Ancient Dragon
drops a
Giant Soul,
which is what you need to
lower the King's defense.

I thought I read it doesn't actually drop any souls item, you get that particular
Giant Soul
item elsewhere via a m
emory
.

Dual black steel katana's at +10 with 40 DEX is apparently the third most damaging DEX combination you can get. That's what I'm aing for myself. That and the BKH. :)

I've got 40 dex and 17 str... If I want to dual wield blacksteel and uchi, how much would I need?

Nevermind; just read i need 150% of both.

I need to know: does putting points in both Strength and Dexterity make me do more damage if I'm equipping a sword that scales with both of these stats ? Or does the game only select the attack value of the stat that is higher between the two ?

So i read in another thread that From penalizes you in Dark Souls 2 if you disconnect from an invasion.

What exactly is this penalty and how long does it last?? Is it character based or account based? etc etc

This week i played some dark souls 2 at my girlfriends place but the internet is spotty there...and i think i disconnected about twice in the bell tower during invasions (disconnected some more but only twice during invasions)

Am i fucked now??

It scales with both, so if you have a weapon that scales well with both (either A or B), increase both.

From what I've read, if you disconnect enough then it makes it so you can't coop, but you get invaded more and you can reset this once with a bone of order.

There's 5 Giant Souls in the game (per run), he drops 1 of them. Having all 5 makes the Vendrick fight very easy.

The more PVP I play the more I realize how terrible I am.

And/or how unprepared my build is to tackle most challenges in PVP.

I do fine and I am completely untuned for PVP. I use a mace, quite possibly the worst weapon you can use :). In addition, no spells, and my mace has no enhancements, just straight up damage. I also use a greatshield.

It's just practice, nothing more. The more you do it the better you get.

Yes, I know. But I think I read that that boss actually doesn't drop any Soul Items. Unless he does, but only if you haven't gotten it via the memory? Someone here earlier complained about the boss on how it didn't give him the item and apparently beating him is just for bragging rights.

Game will tell you if you are banned or not. It's perm, but you can use an item to reconnect (it's in your inventory now. says will re-connect to other worlds). Single use item. Also, while it bans you, it will still allow invasions. lol

Just ask test_account. He/she is our local disconnecter around here. ;)

He definitely dropped it for me.

Recently traded up my mace for the mastodon greatsword, which I'm loving - it's like a pure strength claymore basically. R2 isn't as good, though. Still, I think the range of the mace was holding me back. I could stunlock people with it no problem but I'd always end up whacking them out of range and whiffing.

You're right though, I need practice. Kind of hard to do with finite invasion items. The arena's fine but it's annoying having to co-op bosses in order participate.

Running r1 with the katana is life.

I have a chaos blade with a darkdrift for backup now, but trying to farm for the blacksteel ended up with extinction and I've also exhausted the Belfrey Sol trying to trigger the predator guy (killed the little guys to see if Flame Swathe would drop).
