Phil Spencer on Halo 2 Anniversary

Pardon my ignorance but I'd be pretty disappointed if a HD remake was the big announcement at their E3. The first E3 after release is usually pretty big for any company so I'm hoping they have a lot more engaging stuff than Halo 2.

If ntkrnl is to be believed (he's missed a couple of times recently), we're getting a beta for Halo 5 before the end of the year, so at least you have that.

Arbiter > Master Dork

Halo 2 Anniversary should just cut everything other than Arbiter from the game. Only Arbiter, with invisibility and sword, for multiplayer.

They must change nothing other than graphics and level count. Any tweaks are likely to ruin the magic that is Halo 2. Don't let us down, MS.

The only way they can nail it is if they include all of the multiplayer maps. Which are allot given all the post release content and PC only maps.

Halo CE Anniversary felt like 10 years after its release, but a Halo 2 just seems odd. It feels so recent, yet i was so young...

just announce it already and start E3 with it. Don't let it be the final surprise of the conference, please.
It's still a remake after all, but I am so ok with having this one this year and a neat Halo 5 in 2015.

Just redo Halo 2 MP with forge/theatre and let people do better custom playlists. Not hard considering Halo 3 had those using the Halo 2 engine

You had me, until you said "for multiplayer". :lol

Arbiter is a great character, I always wanted a spin-off Halo game with him as the main character. I think it would be pretty awesome, if you could play with him on the planet Sanghelios.

Sure, I'm aware of how popular Halo is, especially 2's multiplayer. I'm not a big fan, just hoping they have something big, unannounced that's more suited to my tastes.

How would Forza Horizon 2 suit you then?

I don't even like racing games, but after playing the first one, that would suit me quite well.

Plus, hey we get to see Sunset Overdrive and stuff, likely. And there's probably something else really big, like a new IP, that we don't know about yet.

Halo Anniversary multi-player was Reach multi-player with a separate anniversary playlist with different settings and maps.

He's going to piss off a lot of people by saying Halo CE wasn't true multiplayer lol. And who cares about dual wielding? That's not necessarily what I'm most excited about, or Arbiter. It's about the base/core gameplay, maps and gametypes making a return.

All in all, this is probably the worst kept secret in Xbox gaming right now. Just announce it and end the speculation already. Whether it'll have a revamped classic multiplayer, will have a Halo 5 beta etc.

It is basically announced. They will do it officially when the time is right and they have something to show.

They are kind of pulling a Nintendo. Talking about future games to build hype for a console with maybe not first place sales.

if this hd remake iis one of their bigs things on e3 till be less than impressed, the first one selled well?

Just like they controlled leaked the wrong Tier 2 launch dates?

They were actually on schedule to release in Tier 2 but when it came time to ship they forgot. Slipped their mind. Can't blame them, really. They were too busy promoting Titanfall.

Would suit me fine, loved the first one

However, I want them to move on a bit from Halo,Gears, Forza and Fable. It's getting stale a bit for me and very predictable. Quantam Break and Overdrive are a good step in that direction.

BODY IS READY

Halo 2 multi packaged with a halo 5 beta. Sounds like 343 might be steering the franchise (multiplayer wise) back to its roots.

The rumor-real scale is typing ever so slightly in favor of the latter as we near E3. I hope though that they don't botch yet another HD remake and include only half of the game. I realize that most of the fans who want to play it only want the multiplayer, but that's a part of Halo 2. The campaign - for all its issues - was still a blast and what really sold me on the series (and co-op). I'd be less inclined to pick it up if it was no where to be found. Besides, all the other campaigns are playable with co-op over LIVE, so why the hell not?

On that point, if the game ends up being touched in any way other than to update the graphics and netcode, there's going to be significant uproar. For something that's shaping up to be [long overdue] fanservice, they can't afford to make those mistakes.

Let's calm down and wait to see it.
They said they got it with H4 and what happened there?

Exactly. Keep calm., it's a marketing ploy.

If the released an updated Halo 2 which, apart from performance and graphical enhancements, did not touch the core gameplay of the game's multiplayer, I'd go out and purchase an Xbox One immediately.
