Phil Spencer on Steam Machine Announcement: 'Helping Games Move Foward'

I hope this spurs Microsoft to go back to the drawing board with Xbox, especially if Value starting enticing developers to use the Linux API (and Vulkan).
Remember the original reason Microsoft created the Xbox was because DirectX was struggling to gain adoption with developers (many Windows 95 era games were adopting variants of openGL or vendor specific API's like 3DFX Glide, and there was legitimate fear that Sega and Sony would take over the home computer market with their consoles.

Instead of buying the new Xbox, I'm gonna get a Steam Machine and stack my Series X on top of it.

It's a Sexbox.

Still just corpo congratulations, but if it gets them to compete more by making Windows better...I'll take whoever does better in the next few years.

But more seriously, this is the entry point of home Linux use:
- MS screwed big time with their nagging in Win 11
- A lot of software people use is web based, by definition it's platform agnostic
- Someone make desktop Linux attractive for home use (Steam, but many distributions offer pretty much the same experience)

MS is really at risk of losing their desktop OS dominance, it will be long, people don't upgrade so often anymore... and changing platform is hard for a lot of people, but the wheels could very well be in motion.

he actually no need to response. he can just say or do nothing. but why he suddenly responded? particularly in the typical fashion?
