Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Yeah this is gonna be a slow Summer for Wii U in North America. I'm thinking Bayo 2 in August, Hyrule Warriors in September, or maybe October. Then lots of stuff in October and November, including Smash.

Ah, so they will be making the same fucking mistakes as last year? Including having 2 games compete with Smash Wii U which will compete with 3DS version? Excellent, excellent...

I wonder what the green and orange highlights on the stage platforms mean:

I was thinking that they may use color indicators as to which moving platform you want to go to when you have to go up.

So green means that is the platform you have to go to.

Maybe orange indicates it is stopped? Or maybe you have to get off of it? Though I think red would be a better color for that.
So we can expect another Direct soon?
We can expect one next month.

Fusion is great, the best 2D Metroid in my honest opinion.

Speaking of, I hope that SSB4 Samus has the actual Fusion suit as an alternate costume and not just the colors of it.

Sweet. That'd be an awesome alt to have.

Heath my bad! I missed your previous post.Yeah from a marketing standpoint you are correct. It does makes sense. I was just speaking out of selfish reasons for myself.

Even if we don't get a Smash reveal in the next direct, it still shows us what Nintendo considers important. I think the only international direct since E3 that didn't have a Smash character reveal was the one where they revealed Rosalina was in 3D World, and we know how that worked out haha.
The Direct with Rosalina in 3D World wasn't international, it was NA/EU only.

Every main Nintendo Direct (meaning the bimonthly international ones) since the game's reveal has had a character reveal, and I guarantee that trend will continue.

Honestly the only characters I see being revealed between now and E3 are a newcomer in April's Direct and Ice Climbers on April 24 for the Famicom Remix 1+2 release. There's no other major retail releases in Japan between now and E3 besides Famicom Remix 1+2, Mario Golf: World Tour, and Mario Kart 8. There's no characters that would correspond to the latter two games.

I'm sure the release date will be announced 2 months before the game comes out. That's pretty standard for Nintento. They are trying not to lock themselves down until they know they can get the product out.

So no more delay delay delay I assume. Just vague and wait.

we are expecting to get our bimonthly direct next month.

That's interesting finding. I really hope that it would be like that, rather than being flashy just hell out of it.

It's +- 51 daily images until what I estimate to be the E3 date.

HERE WE GO! Actually, 51 daily images sound so good to me. 51 images before E3! :D

To all Metroid Fusion new players.

You will now the meaning of stress with SA-X!
BWAHUAHAUHAUHA

I remember the flashbacks to fighting SA-X when I was younger... *insertemotionalfigifthere* lol

Now I can say that this week has been the most boring of them all :P

Don't you only have to actually encounter SA-X like... once before you're maxed out in weaponry?

I guess you can say you had Nightmares...

She would appear on places where you would be sometimes low on health and in some rooms.

Since this was my first metroid I had a lot of trouble remembering where she was sometimes :P

Everyone's reaction after tonight's pic.

I was gonna say "sounds about right" after only having seen daily.jpg.

Having seen the two follow-up images... I dunno, I still kinda feel like that. I liked the flying platform schtick for Mute City and Port Town Aero Dive, but was less than enthused with its use in Delfino Plaza (not entirely sure why, but it just never really clicked with me there) and am ambivalent toward its use in Skyloft. Not really sure how I feel about it being used here - assuming, that is, that it's not actually multiple platforms that you have to hop back and forth from as they enter and exit the play area, somewhat like a more bland Poké Floats, or akin to what the Pilotwings stage is doing (without the coolness factor of "holy crap we're fighting on top of planes"). That would be more interesting, mechanically, to me.

*shivers* New Skoolers...

It was okay, but a linear objective Metroid doesn't feel Metroidy enough to be deemed the best 2D Metroid.

Wow, I didn't realize people hate these kind of floating platform stages so much. The idea is that the place has more than one interesting place, so they use the floating platform to get you to the other places.

I think Skyloft and Delfino Plaza are great examples of it being done well.

But you move from place to place so fast that you never really get to soak any one place in, and the flying platform between locations never really feels like it flows in that naturally.

At least with the F-Zero ones, you're following a highly linear circuit, in the same direction all the cars on the track are. With open-ended areas like Skyloft and Delfino Plaza, it just feels utterly arbitrary.

Same here. I'm not even aware of floating stage haters until recently.

I hope there's one legit leaker who's been holding out on us until April 1st. Undoubtedly it will get lost in the shuffle (which will probably take the heat off him as well), but months from now when it's proven legit... there would be such a "holy shit" moment.

I actually thought of same thing just today. That would be hilarious.

I respectfully disagree. I feel like Metroid at its best doesn't need to be nonlinear as long as it captures the feeling of exploration, something Fusion does absolutely expertly. All Fusion really lacks is sequence breaks, which is a shame but necessary for the story they wish to tell.

Prime is the still the best Metroid game overall, though. It manages story, the feeling of exploration, and has sequence breaking! It's practically perfect.

Super Metroid, while influential and grand in its own right, never quite clicked with me like later Metroids did.

That would be great.
