- I only need to fight the final boss to finish the game and I'd like to build a good character for pvp, I'm mainly doing a dex build, sl 120 right now, dex left at 40. any suggestions? Should I stick to a katana or go for another weapon like the Curved Dragon Greatsword? (which needs 30 STR so I might go for sl 140 or so) Or is there anything better for a dex build.
what's the best stamina regen shield? I can't find any % of their recover ability so I have no idea.
also, is dual-wielding a good option? I don't see the point of it.
* anyone?
I actually just finished the game but I'm still not sure about my build.

I'd say put 30 or 40 points in INT. The magic weapon spell tree is amazing for wringing every last bit of damage out of your weapon. Even if you only have 2 attunement slots, it's worth it.

I'm really getting sick of all these mage enemies with homing magic bolt shit and eyes of an eagle times thirty making relatively simple levels ten times more frustrating than they should. Not harder, just frustrating. I could just abuse the 'nocs plus lightning spear or run up and
Dark Sun sword
them, but fuck it. Live by the homing soul arrow, die by the homing soul arrow.

Hating my twinkling titanite experience so far. I enjoyed the area on my first run but it is too damn slow to farm, and whereas I was finding them like crazy first time round (as well as effigies), this time I'm wearing all my item discovery shit and am not finding crap.

Why can I sometimes not use an estus flask in coop but usually I can? Which is meant to be the standard?

Edit Sorry didn't think that'd be a dp

Hey what do you know, the enemy respawn limit also applies to the
Dark Chasm of Old
. I guess it's not surprising?

Imma get you yet
Darklurker
. I may need to farm for another Flame Swathe...

Edit: Nvm I just beat his bitch ass lol. It's much easier to just rush him two-handed once he gets to like 1/5-1/6 of his HP.

Shrine of Winter is the leftmost doorway from the ruined fork road. If you see the note telling you to produce the symbol of the key you took the middle path. To open the Shrine of Winter you need either four Great Souls or 1 million soul memory.

I love how the rubble blocking the other path could easily be stepped over in a real life scenario. Even in a full suit of armor it would be easy to walk through it/over it.

I have a friend who thought that DS2 was more linear than DS1, but when you think about it, how many places were really open to you in DS1 before you place the Lord Vessel? Sure you could try Catacombs or New Londo before Undead Burg and the Forest, but the difficulty spike is so high no normal person would choose those first. Whereas in DS2 there are literally 3-4 viable options to follow pretty close to the start where you can mix and match, explore and have fun with it. One of the advantages of warping from the get go, although it could be done with some mad genius level design and still keep the whole interconnected thing going...

I recently encountered a guy that summoned me into his game to co-op a boss, and then purposely suicided because I was too "weak" (I was a little overpowered and doing somewhat high damage).

Some people are nuts. Unless maybe I'm crazy? I mean, I'm supposed to win, right?

Lol, when I did that fight I didn't realize it summons skeletons after each skeleton lord is downed. I killed all 3 skeleton lords at almost the same time and then had 15 or so skeletons to deal with, lol lots of running and dodging.

Man this is my favourite boss so far to use the
Dead Again
hex. So many enemies lying all over the floor even part way through. Just spammed it while helping on the boss fight and even though there were countless living enemies still and only half a bar of health...other guys were hiding behind pillars I cast it three times and blew up every last enemy. Both the host and the other helper who were dying had to give me the "point" gesture cause they knew they were dying to the bonewheels and that hex basically acted like it was a nuclear bomb, channeled through the dead bodies and anything close to a dead body got a direct helping of 850 damage. I think my record for evaporating enemies I can see on the screen was 6-7. I have hardly upgraded my catalysts and am only level 80 or so with 20 INt and 30 faith. I have also kited the regular hollows in the area to the "bonfire" near the bridge, kinda central, and killed them instantaneously with the miracle that kills hollows...then kited the big sickle ogres over ...needless to say they evaporated quickly....more bodies just means more chance to hit with 850 damage though I think, not stacking. Still could one shot anything in the copse, with the exception of perhaps the red phantoms. Cant wait until I get invaded when lots of bodies are strewn about ...poor bastard wont know what hit him. Coolest and most powerful miracle/sorcery/hex EVER, but have to have the bodies so it is not reliable in all situations.

Maybe it's one of the people from this thread who thought you were killing the boss too fast.

I'm 18 hours in and yet to be invaded too. Only got a scripted one so far. Not sure why but ok.

invasions are pretty rare. they seemed to occur in specific locations for me and after i went over SL100. i'm assuming most people are invading after they finished the main game.

Damn I'm suddenly kicking ass at PvP tonight even though I was sucking the last few nights. I won 7-8 fights in a row. I've started to understand the range of my primary weapon (Mastodon Greatsword), and how well it can catch people off guard if they're rolling or trying to get past me. Keeping pressure on people can also cause them to trip up. I can do a run attack, and some people may see it coming, but the range can still get them.

Is there a better strength weapon than the Gyrm Great Hammer? I tried to roll with the Dragon Tooth for awhile but the scaling loses out to this damage wise. Though I still have one more level to get if I find more twinkling titanite.

Absolutely loving NG+ so far. Took down the Last Giant and the Pursuer solo with nary a scratch, but got lazy and wandered into the Ruins Seninels alone and totally unprepared. Probablu the most tense battle I've had so far and managed to take them down. I love this game.

Also had, I guess, an odd glitch. At the Heides Flame Tower and way across the map could see the Dragonrider in his boss area. So as an experiment put about 100 poison arrows into him. They registered as hits but didn't show any damage being registers. When I got to him and fought him, he had barely any life left and it took just a single hit to take him out..anyone try this yet?

maybe 140 is too low for ng+. i didn't get invaded after hours and rarely see signs on the ground. maybe remove restricted, but then i know i'll get invaded by some wlan lagger.

Nice! Never had that happen but it reminds me of Demons Souls Maneater strats
It's about your Soul Memory and not SL. Even more so on NG+.
I thought the general consensus is that SM (and SL) doesn't affect NG+ very much anymore or even not at all.

I finally came back to this game after a week off to play Infamous. I'm at the S

boss. I've been doing co-op to get a feel for the boss. I can dodge every one of his attacks just fine but the host always dies. I can only run in and do about 160 damage at a time if both my swords connect properly otherwise it can be much lower. I really like this boss though.

SL doesn't matter on NG+ - I think we can agree on that. Soul Memory does to a certain point in my experience. Or we just had server issues when trying to play together.

I'm so jealous of everyone that's in NG+ now. I picked the game up Day 1 and have only logged 17 hours. At this rate, it'll be another 2 1/2 weeks before I finish the game.

Chugging along in this game. Logged about 50 hours so far and seem to be half-ish way through. Overall I'm enjoying it quite a lot. Though I think the first Dark Souls had more memorable bosses, at least thus far.

Just started experimenting with Pursuer's Ultra Great sword and I'm really living it. I read a few pages back that boss weapons don't seem to be worth it. Anyone have any long term experience with that particular sword?

Man I'm always so laggy when I PvP or co op, kinda sucks. Anyone else always bad? Though sometimes it seemingly makes you immortal haha.

Also, 25 hours in... Still rocking flame sword +7 at SL70.

I feel like weapons should have opened up more for me by now...
I guess dual INT and DEX builds have really limited EQ options for a long while, unless someone can suggest otherwise. Think I'm 22/22 INT and DEX and just got to havest valley

Has anyone found a weapon that crits higher than the starting dagger? I upgraded a few of the rapiers to +10 and it wasn't even close.

You aren't going to find a decent weapon that scales with DEX and INT for a while. Just find a DEX weapon that you like and use magic weapon to add a bunch of damage.

150 is the max modifier I believe. There are a few weapons with 150 as well (berserker blade for example), but I'm not sure if they compare to the dagger. I *think* the dagger has some internal crit modifier that's not listed.

Go through Harvest Valley, and then 2 areas after that are were you can get a katana drop and an ember for McDuff (He'll sell you an Uchigatana once you give the ember to him).
