I respec'd for my dual wielding Blacksteel Katana dex build and totally forgot that I also need 1.5x the STR requirement to use the powerstance for the katanas. It was also my last soul vessel :(

Where should i use Bonfire ascetic to farm a shit ton of souls from enemies, bosses, i need more souls for my offline character for (magic, miracles...)

A good use of an ascetic in my opinion would be Bell Gargoyles (they drop a Gold Serpent Ring +2) and Executioner's Chariot (Chloranthy Ring+2).

Does anyone else feel levelling up is a lot easier this time around? With the souls I got from onlline play I managed to level Vigor, Endurance, Vitality, Strength and Dexterity all up to 15. Hm, I wonder if 15/15 Str/Dex this is good enough to use the
Channeler's Trident
I got from trading my petrified something. Might not be the best weapon in the world (never used it in the original so I don't know) but the special effect would be fun for online play.

Anyway, I got a Falchion and upgraded it to +3. It's much faster and better than the axe I started with so I hope this was a good decision. And I did alright with it in online play, so maybe it was actually a pretty good idea.

Small gives you a Smooth and Silky stone, which you can trade with the crows. Also, small is useful when you just want to refill your estus/spells/ weapon durability.

You'e summoned as a shade instead of a phantom which means you're there for a shorter amount of time or kills. It's probably meant for clearing some hotspots intead of the whole level with a partner.
Also, instead of a token of fidelity you will get Smooth & Silky stones as a reward plus the Souls you got of course.

The two different soapstones give different rewards. One gives you a covenant item, the other gives you a trade item for an NPC.

Thanks! So the Smooth and Silky Stone can be traded. But what is the point of the token of fidelity? And while we are at it, what's the point of the Tokens of Spite I got from invading?

You can trade the token of fidelity to the statues in the Way of the Blue covenant to do sparring PVP matches with other covenant members. Winning a sparring match earns you a cracked blue orb.

I'd assume it's the same for the Brotherhood of Blood and the Tokens of Spite.

It is.

do you mean those magic weapon buffs? I'd try them but 30-40 points in INT is a lot for a dex focused build, I think.

probably npc phantoms.

anyway I'm still not sure which weapon to use for pvp/NG+, that 330~ damage from BSK isn't good enough for me. I was thinking to fully upgrade the Darkdrift just 'cause almostinvisibile weapon looks cool, but the damage isn't high. or I'll just use a soul vessel and go for a faith build or something.

oh, how does the Brotherhood of Blood pvp works? Do I just need to equip the ring or what. also what's the ideal SL for pvp, around 120-150?

No, they're human.

Ok guys so I have a question

Me and my friend have been playing through the game multiple times and for some reason my buddy always wants to use the falchion. He basically said that every weapon hes used other than that never compares.

Obviously, this depends on the build, but is the falchion really the best early game/late game weapon? I was hoping there would be more parity.

Ran into a bit of a problem in Drangleic. When I go to kill the stone soldiers in the room with the one Golem, the elevator won't activate. Happen to anyone else? I thought the only glitch was the entrance not opening?

Edit: nvm, got it working. I killed the two stone soldiers closest to the golem. Why that works is beyond me.
Did you kill them close to the statue, so that it could absorb the souls?

It does a lot of bleed, decent damage, and is fast. I use it on my main build all the time.

So then.. the answer is.. always go Falchion? lol damnit

It's not good for everything. The beauty of this series is that no one weapon is superior to all others. I used a variety of slash and heavy stuff. Just do what's natural to your play style and change it up if you get bored.

For instance, I keep halberds and greatswords with me at all times so I can do heavy 2-handed damage or sweep a lot of enemies at once.

In Dark Souls 1 two-handing a Darkmoon Blade buffed Falchion and spamming R1 was a stupidly effective method of destroying nearly any opponent in PVP. I haven't used the Falchion in Dark Souls 2 but I imagine it's probably still a good weapon for dishing out fast damage.

Yeah, the
Gargoyles
were pretty tough. 2vs1 they were a joke, but, it's kinda hard when they swarmed you.
Cakewalk in NG++ with my sorcerer. I one-shotted 2 of them with soul geysers. Sorcery is hilariously OP, just as it was in DeS and DaS, or so I've been told (didn't play as a sorcerer in those). I think it's because the game is balanced more for PvP. Actual players are difficult to hit so the damage is very high.

Using spells like soul greatsword and soul vortex is really fun regardless. Almost better than melee. I don't get the hate soul vortex gets here. It's absolutely amazing. When it doesn't misfire it totally wrecks mobs and large enemies. It staggers bosses and deals ridiculous amounts of damage to them because it hits so many times.

I got my platinum today. Just ran through NG++ to
Wellager
in about 4 or 5 hours. I was actually surprised he sold those last spells because some wiki said he would do it after the final boss. While Dark Souls was better in a lot of ways, I just found myself liking 2 more. With Dark Souls I felt like I had had my fill after first playthrough but with DS2 I've played through it 3,5 times, played a lot of PvP and am still craving for more.

as a sorc. I'm in a crossroad of going Pyro or Dark Hex since I have reached the softcap of 40 in my INT.
any recommendation?

So is there any way to increase spell uses? I feel like I remember reading that you could, somewhere. I want to do so with the Great Chaos Fireball.

I haven't used hexes myself but if you like the idea of leveling faith and using souls on a lot of the spells (as in lose souls when you cast), go for it. Pyromancies are great and there's nothing stopping you from at least trying them out.

Btw Initially I was going to stop INT at 40 but ended up going to 58 for the high-level spells and best sorcery staff in the game.

Increase your ATT or buy another copy.

I think attunement will increase spell uses at certain breakpoints depending how many spell uses the spell has.

Ah, ok. The wiki was saying you can get up to 5 uses out of Great Fireball. Eh, I'm just dabbling in Pyromancy right now, would rather not level up ATT anymore. Already had to waste like 6 levels to get my first slot :/ (I know about the rings that give you slots, rather not use them)

there's a staff that require over 50 int?

If you already have the 1st slot, might as well put in another 3 for the 2nd slot. Pyromancy is super powered in PvE.

There are rings and hats that give additional actual spell uses, not slots. Saint's Hood is one.

yeah its nice to have high hex and lightning, but hard to upgrade until late game? I have not found one dragon bone midway through.

actually the first time I went in there I was blocked by two different doors, but a Million souls memory later and only 2 of four boss souls I walked right in to one of them.

Yeah I got the blue ring, as a melle character this time though! If you hug the right wall you find a different chest. It also has a ring I suspect is meant to be worn in the area, but I got outright backstabbed and one shotted, so the supposed effects of the ring didnt work. I got about four items just running around in there...hope that's everything, I dont care to fight the invisible. They shoot arrows as well.

Got this ring finally by spamming soul vortex and scraps of life, with the old sun ring equipped which helped clear some of them up.

Was able to get to
the castle without killing The Rotten because I've been doing a lot of co-op.
So I guess I don't have to go to that area. I plan on doing everything with this character though.

Maxed out sunrbros at the double
dragonrider
and the
looking glasss knight
bosses. They're easy bosses to do so. Although if the host goes up the long elevator on the way to the latter, I just black crystal out. It takes forever. I had no patience while trying to maximize my sunlight medals!

Debating how far to take my INT/FTH past 40. Does anyone know if I'll get any extra great resonant soul / resonant soul casts between 30-40 ATT?

In earthen peak, where is the key for the door that Pate told leads to a treasure? Thanks.
There is no key to that door. You must go around and drop down from a ledge. I think its at the place where that fire lady is standing on another side of a gap. When you get into this room, jump down to the right. You find a treasure chest in that area, and you can open the door (no key required, the door can only be opened from one side).

I think the soft cap of 40/40 is a pretty good spot, it's already a LOT of points into it. Iirc the highest requirement for a hex is 42 FAI?

Yeah the dark bonus is really dropping off after 40.

I just took ATT to 40, and I have 12/26 great resonant/resonant soul with the hexer's hood. I wonder why I have 1 resonant more than you did?

Southern Ritual Band gives you extra slots. If you have Southern Ritual Band +2, you get 3 extra slots. I use that ring now, its pretty handy :)

Ah, yes, of course, I expressed myself a bit badly. :)
I meant that there were rings like Northern Ritual band that gives actual spell uses without needing extra slots. I see how it could be interpreted as otherwise due to my poor wording.

what's the easiest covenant to max out? Sunbros?
and I still don't understand how Brotherhood of Blood works.

Yeah, I went from joining to rank 3 in sunbros just from cooping
dragonrider and looking glass knight
in one night.

That's a good question, I rechecked mine, it sits at 25 with hexer's.

Strange. My INT and FTH are both 41 (42 with Hexer's Hood).

I just tested and the hood is increasing resonant soul from 24 to 26. Is it possible the hood scales the extra cast bonus with your faith/int slightly?
