Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

I was intrigued by Tomodachi Collection when the stage got revealed so it's cool to see it's being localised. Never thought it'd be brought overseas. A Mii reveal with the Direct would be perfect.

TC uses the same "vocaloid" singing as Jam with the Band P right? Kind of hope that game gets a chance. Shame about the sales of the first one in Europe.

Was thinking what 3DS exclusive stage Sakurai will reveal next. Dark moon is the most likely one to me. Since Kirby 3DX and New Island haven't been released worldwide, and paper Mario/M&L series never get any Smash love. StarFox64 3D is also on the list.

Honestly, I want to see a non DS/3DS stage.

Seriously, if there is no Kirby Dream Land stage Sakurai would have missed a great opportunity.

Monday's pic of the day will be Mewtwo as a Poke Ball Pokemon.

Yep, but it will just be a picture of Mewtwo with an extremely vague comment and no acknowledgement of what his role is the game in. Of course, there won't be a reveal trailer or addition of him to the roster, so he won't be a playable character.
until you leave your game on for 3 days straight and get the CHALLENGER APPROACHING screen and it turns out to be Mewtwo.

Sounds great!
Also you can't unlock Mewtwo as a playable character through playing VS matches. You have to wait the 3 days.

I wasn't aware of that. Could I have a source?
Sal Romano's site.
Last week, Gematsu was tipped off about Nintendo’s E3 character reveals for Super Smash Bros. But since we were unable to confirm the validity of our source, we refrained from posting the information. Of the six characters we were told would be revealed, three have been confirmed: Mega Man, Animal Crossing Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer. The three left remaining are Little Mac, Pac-Man, and your Mii.

Also he posted it in smash board,

To those who quoted and responded to this, if you read the link, you'd see it has nothing to do with any source of mine. The friend I mention linked me to the site in a Facebook message because he found it somewhere (probably reddit or N4G or something) and thought it was interesting. I wasn't "dead wrong" about anything because none of that is from me.

As for some people saying I published this information "after the fact," both the June 10 NeoGAF post and Gematsu article are from me. If you paid attention to the authors of both, you'd see they say 'salromano'. Also, my avatar on GAF is the (Mark Cernified) Gematsu mascot.

Anyway, getting to the actual reveals. As I said in my post on Gematsu, I don't know the legitimacy of the person who tipped me, which is why I held onto this information (it'd be unprofessional to publish something without verification) and posted it on NeoGAF as 'speculation'. I thought all the characters were pretty outlandish, to be honest. Especially Wii Fit Trainer girl. I wasn't even aware she was an actual character. But yeah, after she was confirmed, I figured I'd share the rest, which my source told me would appear at E3, barring impromptu change.

That said, it's possible their reveal dates got pushed back or something. I'd think 6 new character reveals are pretty heavy for a single expo.

I'm still inclined to believe the guy considering he was spot on about three of 'em (including the most unlikely). I don't know. But considering that boxing ring stage, Sakurai's talk about customization, and his seemingly interested back-and-forth with IGN about Pac-Man, it's hard to think otherwise.

If I hear anything further, I'll let you guys now. I'm out for now!

It'd be strange not to have playable Miis at this point since we already know about the Wuhu Island, Find Mii, and Tomodachi Collection stages.

Eh...

I will refrain from resting all my belief in that, that's a safe ass list.

Also why would you leak six new comers instead of the entire roster, rosalina would be a weird thing to leave out.

Wii Fit Trainer and Villager are the very antithesis of "safe."

Yeah, it would be weird if we didn't get mii but at same time I'm glad that we got Pilotwing stage tho.

Maybe those 6 characters were supposedly to reveal at E3 but they decided to held back with three characters. Wii Fit Trainer being safe?

lmao

Did you even read the Gematsu article? That is a stupid question to ask. The Gematsu article doesn't state that is the whole roster. It states what the E3 reveals were going to be.

But it seems Nintendo could have changed their plans to revealing all 6 at E3.
Wii Fit Trainer is very safe, just because the fanbase is stupid doesn't make it not
Entire fanbase can't guess it means the fanbase is stupid. What kind of logic is this?

Wii Fit Trainer is very safe, just because the fanbase is stupid doesn't make it not
Villager, on the other hand, is not
You expected Wii Fit Trainer to get in? Are you serious? Literally no one guessed that she would be in beforehand.

Monday's pic of the day will be Mewtwo as a Poke Ball Pokemon.

No, there will be two pics. One with someone throwing a pokeball, the other with Mewtwo and Jigglypuff standing next to each other. Sakurai will proceed to comment, saying something along the lines about how the group of pokemon and the smash cast this time around are really interesting and unique

Sakurai, if you're listening, make this a reality

Yeah, Wii Fit Trainer was definitely out-there. Can't say I immediately felt good about the inclusion, but the character has grown on me a lot and looks really cool!

You don't even know what you're talking about, are you calling us stupid? the people who play wii fit stupid?

I don't know about him but I would be calling the fanbase stupid,
" wii fit trainer wasn't safe" you mean the girl in the games that sold a bajillion copies, put in smash bros, a franchise with a bunch of dead and irrelevant franchises in it. Like rob, the robot. ROB, anything is possible after rob.

Wii Fit Trainer and Villager are the very antithesis of "safe."

Have fun.. with ignoring money.

how is wii fit trainer by any means 'safe'?

Because money

how is wii fit trainer by any means 'safe'?

If someone told me, the lady in that video game that sold millions of copies for nintendo is in smash bros

The game that has a playable man from a dead pre gameboy handheld, and fucking ROB, I wouldn't exactly say that's unreasonable. Keep your mind open and think about the bigger picture than just fanservice and there are alot of sakurais decisions that make a lot more sense than you would think. Not all of them, that cutscene bullshit still makes none, but a lot of them .

Hey, Village: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindsight_bias

Sakurai singled Animal Crossing out as not fitting Smash Bros. during the Brawl days. Out of the 100+ members to enter the GAF roster prediction contest, I think one person included Villager in their roster. Nobody included Wii Fit Trainer -- and looking beyond GAF, she wasn't even entertained as a possible inclusion. There are two or three known instances of people even mentioning Wii Fit in the context of Smash Bros., and they're in the form of obscure years-old GameFAQs posts.

Wii Fit Trainer was not a safe pick by any stretch.
