Also, killed
Ancient Dragon on my third try. First time I was just getting used to it, second I screwed up my position and got crushed by his tail and the third I just kicked his ass.
That is a spectacularly easy fight.

As someone suffering greatly at the hands of this boss, hilariously enough I agree with your assessment - no boss in the game moves so slowly and has such easily readable tactics. The issue is...it doesn't matter! He does what he does and you do what you do, and in many circumstances everything works out fine. In the instances where it doesn't, well, the fight ends. Nice try, come again. Knowing what to do when he flies up doesn't really help depending on where he decides to fly.

Is the pyromancy's sweat pretty useless in iron keep?
I put flame quartz+1 armors with good flame resistance and consumable to buff fire resistance then sweat to grab a treasure box only to take dmg like u don't have any of these buffs

I used flash sweat and the Flame Quartz ring and every little bit seemed to help. To the extent that I noticed a difference when flash sweat faded while fighting the S
melter
D
emon
, so I took the time to recast it when I had a chance.

alone was my best moment in the game so far. One of the few memorable boss fights in the game. I liked the build up to the boss in K

as well. Great atmosphere.

Also, I really like the Mastodon Halberd. I wish it was a little faster though.

Anyway, what's good place to put summon sign at SL 115 ? Would like to progress in the sun covenant tonight.

That was one of my favorite boss battles. I just hated the few times I did because he and his cronies backed me into an alcove I couldn't get out of.

R u able to get that treasure chest by the white fog? Or do i need the
pharros lockstone secret

He's a rare spawn, so RNG just might not be in your favor.

I said fuck it and I just use the Chaos Blade for PVE and the Washing Pole for PVP.

Using the Uchigatana again. I love the damage of the Berserker Blade and the way it looks, but I got sick of my two-handed R2 being useless and unlike other Souls games there are options that don't suck for 2H R2 on katana in this game. Blacksteel Katana makes me sad, it's R2 is cool but just as slow as Berserker Blade's, and even with S scaling on DEX it often does less damage than the others due to the weaksauce counter attack modifier on it.

Haven't gotten the Chaos Blade yet (because NG+ Lost Sinner is a pain in the ass with
the additional Pyromancers
) but I may go with that once I get it. The HP loss seems really negligible with the right rings on, unlike the one in Dark Souls or the Hiltless in Demon's.

So I was moving my way through the
Doors of Pharros
, and all of a sudden I'm invading someone else's world as a shade? As far as I know I didn't do anything to trigger this. I was still wearing my
Bell Covenant
ring from earlier invasions, but I didn't invade this person in
Belfry Luna/Sol
. I invaded them right where I was, in the great big open area in
Doors of Pharros
. Does anyone know what this was all about?
I is a very lucrative covenant...this is one covenant that works right...the blue one maybe not su much until NG+?
Man. The
Gargoyles
are no joke. I spent forever banging my head against them tonight. I "stooped" to summoning.

Feel kinda cheap about summoning. Every-time I do, I feel like I'm cheating somehow. 0_o
It's not cheating, its just that most people realize you will experience that boss differently and challenge themselves to do it solo at some point. Dont feel guilty about doing co-op, its fun and win-win for everyone. Just go back and beat them solo in NG+ and/or with a differnent spec'd character. No sense in holding up your playthrough right now, just because your equip or leveling does not match a certain boss.

That said I plan to at least attempt soloing all bosses I can first, and am slowly trudging around, dropping my sign, and learning each boss well so that I can eventually solo them.

Shoutout to all the dickheads that leave 'fake wall' messages and who put messages in front of actual fake walls. Same group that puts shit in front of every interactible object. I hope you choke on horse semen.

Turned off region control and I'm seeing all kinds of weird Japanese players now. Helped someone using nothing but a dagger and a pyro hand beat ng+
Lost Sinner
the other day,

Another thing
royal rat vanguard
shows how garbage the lock on in this game can be. I mean wow. Could you possibly pick an enemy further from my range?
Why does there even have to be lock-on? Pressing right stick should just lock the camera behind your back. Free aiming for swings, spells, everything. Most of Souls games' problems solved right there.
imo

The only thing that would make pvp more fun is shorter loading times.

Faster load times will make Belfry a nightmare in PC.

Still have my 3 giant souls. Only thing I did that was different, was head out and spend the 50k souls I had from the fight before heading straight back in.
First time i fought him there was no a fog gate and next time there was.

There are
Five giant souls, bro

Other than that, dunno what to tell you; you have to be carrying them, not wearing them, not in the item box at the bonfire. In the inventory.

So...does anything change in NG++? I heard new items are dropped.

Also, is it just me or miracles are better than magic until the point the crazy shit like Soul Geyser becomes an option.

The first two lightning lances seem to make a lot more damage than the spells so far.

One or two of the chests contain different items, for example the chest up the ladder near Maughlin contains a
Moonlight Butterfly Shield
rather than the usual titanite or whatever. But apart from that it's the same as NG+

I ended up using the Quartz ring, Flash Sweat and Orange Burr, rolling through the water vases near the mimic, a lifegem, and 2 estus to get the Chaos Storm chest. Even then I barely made it back to the platform.

From what I've gathered, those pharros lockstone water puddles seem to make all the difference. And they feel quite picky about actually giving the buff so might want to roll around in them a bit. One time I was losing 20% health a second in the lava. On the next try I was gaining health (used old radiant lifegems) with precisely the same equipment and buffs. The only thing that could explain the difference is that on the first try the puddle buff hadn't triggered.

Ah, yes, of course, I expressed myself a bit badly. :)
I meant that there were rings like Northern Ritual band that gives actual spell uses without needing extra slots. I see how it could be interpreted as otherwise due to my poor wording.
Ah ok. How does the Norther Ritual Band actually work by the way? I tried to use it, but my spell usage seemed to be the same (for example, i have 4 Fire Swathe even if i use that ring or not).

Not when you can get a Chloranthy Ring +2 :)
NG+ Executioner Chariot. Or use an Ascetic at the bonfire past his arena near the Brotherhood of Blood covenant.

So +2 is definitely a noticeable difference?

It's like a 5% increase in stamina regen. Not worth the slot.

Yes, I've been noticing it's not that much.

In Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. I always had a bow with me even though I mostly used melee. Try a bow. lol

I do have a bow, and can kill them from a distance. I just like to have everything perfected and it just seems like melee is inefficient on these guys.

Eh. I ended up wearing a shield with the same effect.

I might play around with that.

It gives +casts depending on the spell. Normal NRB gives +1 cast to every spell you have slotted, such that if you have two of the same spell you get +1 for each. NRB+2 gives +3 casts to (almost) every spell. Spells seem to have different caps, I get 3 Flame Swathes per slot of Flame Swathe no matter if I have normal NRB or NRB+2, giving a total of 6 Flame Swathes when I have two spells equipped, no matter which ring I use.

Naturally, you need to sit at a bonfire after equipping the ring to refill your spell casts.

I think the Saint's hood (or the similar INT hat) is more useful than the NRB ring though, as it gives the same effect as normal NRB, but you don't get any health loss. It's light armor as well.

Wow, that last boss was easy. Oh well, first run down as pure str melee. 34 hours, level 146, with 131 deaths.

Really good time overall, and a solid entry to the franchise even if I have some misgivings with it, there atleast isn't anything as bad as the worst in the first Dark Souls.

Anyone having trouble summoning friends? We're using the rings and still can't summon each other. 2 million soul memory for me, and 1.9 million for him.

Just slaughtered Mirror Knight with hexes. That boss hasn't given me any problems so far. Both times I've killed it solo it didn't have a chance to spawn anybody.

Large Club +10 has served me well for the majority of the game, nothing more satisfying then two handed swings crushing bosses in 15 hits or less.

The hexers hood is good as well. It gives the cast bonus and also increases faith and int by 1 each.

This was my weapon the first time through. 2H R2 combo wrecks bosses.

I had a productive day. I cleared four or five areas, found a ton of useful items, raised my main weapons and shield to near-max, helped a few hosts on the boss of Earthen Peak, and killed multiple invaders in my own game. With most of the hardcore players busy exploring New Game+ and beyond, I get to feel like a competent PvPer for once. I'm winning 3/4 of my duels (up from around 1/4 in the other games). I'm even tempted to join the Blue Sentinels.

Question about soul vessels: can you zero out certain statistics, or are you only allowed to reset them to wherever they started?

You can only go as far back as your starting stats.

The Gutter and Black Gulch are probably the lowest points of the game, I also hate Earthen Peak and Harvest Valley with a passion. Everything else has ranged from good to excellent. Dark Souls 1 had a few locations that made me think "I wish I was somewhere else", Dark Souls 2 has a few locations that make me think "why are these areas in the game".
