So, 2 people can't summon one another if they've beaten the boss of an area. But, if we both (or one) uses a Bonfire Ascetic, we'll be able to summon each other right? (our levels and Soul Memory work out, we're NG).

It's for PvP in Iron Keep.

Did you try just using the red sign? I see tons of red signs and dragon signs on the bridge and I beat both Iron Keep bosses.

If you're trying to PvP, it's just going to be up to luck whether or not you'll see each other. Assuming your SL/SM are within range, just keep trying. The boss being dead or alive has no effect.

For PvE if you bonfire ascetic and are using the co-op rings, you should be able to see each other fairly quickly. Make sure you both don't have your signs down, obviously.

I did a lot of PvP today without the Chloranthy Ring +2. It didn't really seem to make a difference, at least for me. I have 38 endurance + Third Dragon Ring, so I have 155 stamina, and nobody is aggressive enough to get me to lose my stamina entirely. It's sometimes close, but not enough. If you have lower stamina it might help, but otherwise...

Right now I have Ring of Life/Soul Protection, Ring of Blades +2, Third Dragon Ring, and then I decided to put Life Ring on, which gives me 200 or more HP, because nothing else seemed that great. Old Sun Ring I find is easily avoidable, and it's helped me a bit in some battles, but I just went for more HP. I have 2200+ HP with 45 Vig, Third Dragon Ring, and Life Ring.

Managed to win most of my battles.

i tried using the white stone and see if i would get summoned at the M
edusa
. and it doesn't even take a minute until i get summoned, tried that multiple times with the same success rate. something is broken. maybe it's my blue sentinel covenant? i haven't found any evidence online though. maybe i'm going to try abandoning and see how it goes. it carried over from ng.

Shaded Woods spoilers...
Holy crap, this trap:

Falling into a pit of basilisks was one of the more panic-inducing moments I've had so far in this game. Somehow managed to pop a Triclops Snake Troches and survive and then all my equipment broke on the way out of that cave.

I freaked out so much that
ran away into a door and killed a blacksmith in one hit.

I was doing some co-op at the O

I
ron

boss. I had my summon sign down just waiting to be summoned and I got summoned into a red phantom's world for us to duel. Is that normal?

We got it working, I just farmed to get my soul memory up and my sign started showing up for him. Thing is, we were within the 50k threshold (if it is even that)

If anyone wants to watch, we're messing around with red soapstone invasions in early
Iron Keep
area, so there won't really be any spoilers

If this isn't allowed, I'll remove it, just wanted to stream some funsies.

Aren't most of the spells placed at pretty straightforward locations, though? The only thing I consulted for spells as a sorcerer were which boss souls I could consume right away, and which I had to keep a hold of for new spells (which was only a couple).
Well only some. My first character didn't make it to no mans wharf until very late, if I was playing a pure caster I would be pretty much screwed.

if i upgrade a uchigatana to +10 and after use firestone, i lose the previously upgrade?

what is the best way to get a elemental weapon?

Infusion is totally separate from reinforcement. You can remove/change infusions without affecting the reinforcement level.

mastodon = strength
defender = faith
claymore = slap fire and gouge vigor all day

Still standing behind the Drangleic Sword. Dat moveset.

Mastadon Greatsword moveset owns love the roll+attack move that poke has insane reach

That poke is the same attack that a bunch of other greatswords get as their default R2 attack, and why their moveset can be better.

As for the forced pvp, it's part of the experience of the game. You aren't suppose to be comfortable or safe, it is a hostile world and the added experience is worth the hardship. Providing it as an option to people undermines the entire point, and sometimes you have to force people to experience something to provide the type of experience you want to create.

Do NG+ summons only pull from players in NG+ or higher?

Summoned a dude in for the Belfry Gargoyles and he's was knocked out in literally less than 5 seconds. Managed to catch a glimpse of him get one-shotted. He got killed so fast I thougt he had disconnected or something.

the run back to the boss is too much for me.

I thought it was easiest to get to him via Drangleic Castle. There are four enemies, and you can fight them by themselves unlike the other paths. I was killing them in one combo with Mastodon Halberd +10 two-handed and Ring of Blades +2. Also the path is short.

So knowing that there are a ton of katana fans what katana did you go with and infusion?

I went poison manslayer +5 (faith/dex build). This thing is unbelievable in pvp :)

Washing Pole is awesome except for low durability. I'm thinking poison as well.

I'll probably end up doing that with black steel katana though, because that durability is a deal breaker

With my 40 DEX character, I single/dual wield an Uchigatana +10 and a Black Steel Katana +10. I haven't gotten a second BSK to drop, and I'm in the middle of moving so my PS3 is packed up now, so I can't play at the moment. Would love to get the Manslayer though.

Are there any relatively fast greatswords with great scaling? I used the Man-Serpent Greatsword in DS1 and it was perfect for me. Looking for something similar.

Currently using a +10 Claymore with few complaints, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on something more suitable for me.

Also, I asked this a day or so ago but didn't get an answer: My int/faith is shit, should I imbue the Claymore with Lightning or will that lower my damage output since those stats are low?

So imbuing Manslayer with poison makes it more poisonous? Interesting. I dual wield manslayer+5 and chaos blade+5 at the moment (swapping with my two uchi+10 if their durability weakens).

Five strikes with a Poison Manslayer let me poison enemies. It was somewhat useful for the short time I used it against enemies with a lot of HP (Dragon Shrine knights, pig ogre monsters).

Claymore is really really good imo. I'm currently running a quality build with an unimbued +10 Claymore. I carry around a +10 Pyromancy Flame with Flame Weapon just to squeeze out a little bit more damage though.

Edit: You'll probably see a damage increase on paper, but remember imbuing with Lightning or any element will force your attacks to go through two different armor/damage reductions.

Yep. I wanted to use it as my primary pvp weapon. I think the stats are 220 and 140ish poison with B scaling. So you only lose like 10 attack and gain 40 or so more poison. Using a lightning murakamo +10 as my pve weapon (not sure if you would classify it as a katana b/c of the greatsword like move set). Using sunlight blade with the murakamo = awesome (especially with my lightning dragon chime +5 adding max damage).

For katana I'm currently using the Chaos Blade. Thing just deals a ton of damage, has great range and a damn good set of R2s. The only way to make it better would be to drop the HP loss on hits, but that's WAY more manageable than it was in previous games.

Berserker Blade is pretty good also, but it does has shorter range and the two-handed R2 is useless. It hits really hard though and doesn't drain HP on hits, so it's very much viable.

Dual Cestus are pretty awesome. They use little stamina and you can combo/stun people for days. The damage isn't terrible either considering how fast they can attack in power stance. Some bosses also just get wrecked by it.

Anyone going for achievements really need to do the bell covenant early.
I'm doing them at SL150 on NG+ and people are *still* pulling out their cables or dashboarding.

I'm constantly switching weapons but for Katanas I usually use Washing Pole, Berserker Blade, Poison Manslayer, or Fire Black Steel (which I guess is most of them lol). All fully upgraded.

Haven't used the Uchi yet so I'm not sure if I'm missing out or if it just another katana (there doesn't seem to be a lot of disparity).

Platinum get.

Making you basically get to NG++ to complete was sort of a dick move. lol

Yup, at 88 percent right now. Just need all of the spells that you can only get in + and ++ plus the one from the Bellkeepers.

Still better than forcing you to make all of the boss weapons that you won't ever touch though.

Speaking of katanas, the Darkdrift's strong attack goes through shields. Despite that, I didn't find all that much use for it :/

I just ran into the first person that consistently crushed my DEX/INT build. He had the rebel greatshield and just ate everything I had to offer, then flattened me with a great hammer.

The Mirrah Sword scales at C/A which seems really high for Greatswords.

its like a 1 hit k.o and basically if you are close to them it will hit you, not like you can just roll away. so if you cant one hit kill them you just die. should the strat be to backstab them during animation?
Unless they have really high poise, couldn't you just knock them out of the animation with a running attack?
