MGSV: Ground Zeroes - Spoilers Thread - #TeamBowie

This is a series that's had a man telepathically taken over by another dead man's grafted arm. By comparison, this Chico theory isn't that farfetched...
 
HOLY FUCK. Was wondering why there was so much activity in this thread, saw the Chico = Quiet comparison. I was part of #TeamCG, and this goddamn theory makes so much sense.

It's also not farfetched for a director who has a strange obsession with crotch grabbing.

Oh my god, all the people fawning over the actress Quiet is modeled after, thereby fawning over Quiet, therefore fawning over Chico?

If Kojima challenges someone's gender/sexuality or thoughts on gender/sexuality, I'll be left in awe. Mind you someone finding a transgender person attractive isn't shocking in any way, and the idea of someone being transgendered isn't shocking in of itself, people should welcome and support someone for who they are mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

However, look at the internet and gaming culture in general. Venomous attitudes towards gay/lesbian people, towards women, towards all transgendered people. Getting bigoted or ignorant people to question the idea of gender and sexuality in a mainstream game would be a magnificent feat.

The idea of phantom pain extending to self identity and gender? Fucking brilliant.
 
I can't wait until the next game comes out so I can use this Quiet stuff as another example of insane theories that never turn out to be true.

I got to say this theory does make a lot of sense. And also sounds very much like something Kojima would come up with.
 
time to debunk this theory;

Kojima based Quiet off a real life model/actress or whatever the fuck she is. Meaning they paid her money for her looks. I doubt Kojima went out of his way to look for a woman with similar facial structure as Chico, so that crosses out the similar facial theory.

Secondly, I think it would be quite insulting to the actress if the character she was based off was in reality a man - not trying to be insult anyone, but it would imply that she looked manly. I don't think Kojima would do this, it'd be a rather low punch to the face cap actors he hired and could hurt his reputation.

I believe Kojima stated that they couldn't find an ideal actor for Chico's appearance, so they combined the appearance of different (kids?) to get the look they wanted. This means they could've went out of their way to alter Chico based on the actress and character they came up with, rather than the other way around.

Quiet actually does look "manlier" than her IMO.

Also, Snake and Ocelot look very different from their actors, so it's definitely possible for them to make visual changes to characters while maintaining facial mapping.
 
Also, come on guys. This is a joke theory from /v/, you guys are falling for their bait so hard.

It's more likely that Hayter voicing solid snake in phantom pain than this theory - it's seriously too far fetched, the facial structure similarity is complete garbage - they don't look anything alike.

The only thing this theory has going for it is a loose connection that Quiet is tortured along with Huey, and we are assuming Quiet somehow is Chico.

Also, you just assume Chico has a sex change because 'its fucked up'. These two pillars of this theory are as weak as a old man's knees.

It's not an insult to the model. You don't necessarily have to look "manly" to be trans, there are quite a few successful beautiful trans models.

I agree with you when you say this theory is (deliciously) insane. But the argument you used is equally insane.

EDIT : hell, regarding the events of MGSV GZ, I'd feel more horrified to be remembered as Skullface than a transgendered Chico personally.
 
Watching the Red Band trailer after playing GZ is cool. Nice to have an understanding of the mechanics and what is going on during the 'gameplay' parts.

Why is the game so far away in time? Judging from Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain trailers (which is 10 months old) you'd think they've completed quite a big part of the game.

Deception, mate. That's just what every trailer/demo wants you to believe.

In behind the scenes videos you see that devs sometimes struggle to make 5 minutes of gameplay stable enough for E3, less than 48 hours before the demo goes live.

I keep asking myself the same thing whenever I go to play GZ but kind of don't want to because I'm sick of that location (._. )

Also re: time, I was going to ask if people thought GZ cleared anything up about the overall TPP story, but the 'time' that BB is out in the hospital seems to make any speculation just as baseless as before playing GZ, aside from some things like -possibly- why Huey might be getting tortured.
