PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

enjoy- it's the best FPS you can get on any mobile device, sans nvidia shield

I'm not much of a FPS or MP guy, and i loved both it's single player ( replayability) and the multi.

We should make one NYC party room with Kz Mercenary with you and Sajj.

PS - KZ Liberation still is the best KZ. Still waiting for a sequel.

Signing up for a new network account. Wow do I dislike the online store. It's so slow and clunky. And signing up is a pain in the butt. I've gone through it twice, then it times out and makes me start all over.

I have done so for several weeks. Since the OP isn't as obvious a place to look for the weekly releases and we don't have the weekly threads anymore it's just been a side job I try to do every week.
I appreciate your work jvm.

So I just booted up the song editor in Miku. I was thinking of making up a thing for a Babymetal song, seemed like a good fit. Holy shit I was not ready for the level of depth.

When I saw the level of depth, nope nope nope.

Hyped for SMT Raidou this week, if only because it means we are most definately getting the second game, and the small chance that we get DDS and/or Nocturne
Yeah came out of nowhere for me. Been wanting to play it for a pretty long time now and for $10 I can't pass it up.

Also hoping they get Nocturne up there eventually because short of a Vita remake I'm probably not going to be able to bring myself to hook up a PS2 to play that either.

I get my drop news here from jvm, so it is always appreciated.

Trails in the sky or Gurumin?

Trails. Both are charming but Trails has great world building and more loveable chararcters with just enough of exploration so that you never get lost. And it will last you longer.

Landed safely. Next leg in a couple of hours. Will try to get out my laptop and crank something out.

Anyone know if PS4 gets Pinball Arcade DLC this week?

I thought Strider was too hard, personally. I never even finished it because I just wasn't having fun with its difficulty. I may get back to it eventually.

Really? I thought the game's difficulty was a joke, even on hard. you just run forward and mash attack. Seriously, this was one of my complaints -- I felt there wasn't really much challenge to it.
The only spots it gets a little tricky is in a couple of boss fights where the hitboxes/patterns aren't really fair, and even then, it's just dodge+option C.

The hardest part in the game is in the corridor that leads up to the final boss and it's because of the design, not because it is something that requires skill.

The game is a 6.5 *at best*.

If you want a real metroidvania with solid combat mechanics and some actual variety in terms of enemies/levels/abilities/etc -- go get Mirror of Fate HD.
I just played it on my PC and as far as I'm concerned, it does everything better -- even with the slight technical hiccups I encountered. If the console versions of it are solid, I'd recommend that anyone who is looking for a solid metroidvania type experience go with MoF over the dumpster fire that is Strider.

The Drop is just to see wtf is releasing this week, it's not that tiresome.
Here let me do it for you since you're too much of a lazy scaredy cat:
Well not much to interest me outside of SMT: Raidou on PS3, and seems Ragnarok OA isn't getting a demo for the Vita?
I never said I didn't read it. The Drop on the Blog is just useless. It says Origins Blackgate on PS3 but doesn't mention if it's the Vita port. Or even what kind of game it is. It says Ragnarok, but doesn't ever say what kind of game it is. Could be a fighting game for all I know (I think it's a jrpg?). It's a useless piece and throughout the years (before I started reading jvm's posts) I've actually missed out on whole games because of the extremely vague descriptions.

The Drop mentions that Blackgate is an enhanced version of the "original Blackgate experience" and that Ragnarok Odyssey Ace is "an expanded and enriched version of the original RPG Ragnarok Odyssey". Jvm's posts are much more informative, but The Drop isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

I'm not even paying attention, but I know that Blackgate Origins was the Vita/3DS game that is getting an HD port, just like MoF. And I know that RO is a hunting game because it's basically and updated release of what's already out.

Yeah, the difficulty jumps in PDf are crazy. There are still a few extreme songs that I still have Standard on, and I've had the Japanese import for almost year and a half now.

HAHAHA.

I've bought the game on Miku's birthday. And there are still songs on Extreme I can't even get a Standard. orz

And F 2nd's double scratches are a monstrosity you'd want to kill them with a flamethrower.

:(

I hope for Helldivers to be similar, but it definitely looks more co-op oriented.
It was 9 with ps plus discount.

It was 7.19€ in yurop

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to broke his "to every question about X or Y Vita game I'll say both" rule xD.

How many people from here is playind Destiny of Spirits?

I'm tempted, but I don't like the genre

Just got my Platinum Trophy in P4G. Awesome game!
I guess I'll play Tearaway next :)

I have played it since launch and it is kinda fun but I don't know whether it can motivate me for a longer period of time.

The chances of previous PS+ free games returning are very slim.

That's a shame considering they're the two indie games that interested me most. Dunno if I'm willing to shell out $15 a piece though. I hope there's still a chance it'll show up in a couple months.

I just bought a PS4 last week and the PSN store is lacking content and the price of games is too much in comparison to Steam and PSN for PS3. Due to the games drought, I expected Sony to have a ton of Indie games available to hold us over, but there isn't much. They could have had ports of some popular games too. I like the PS4, as it comes on instantly and there isn't much loading. I wish there was a fighter to play, as I am not fan of Injustice. I would have loved Ultra Street Fighter, King of Fighters XIII, BlazBlue, Tekken Tag 2or Persona Arena. The next notable game for me is probably Destiny which isn't until September, unless Drive Club us sooner, or GTAV or Last of Us ports come out.

this will be the first year in a while I'm going physical over digital with MLB The Show since they refuse to comment on a digital upgrade option from PS3 to PS4

just going to get it at GameStop and then trade in the PS3 version in ~4 weeks towards the PS4 version

That sucks. I'm having a hard time finding time to play all the awesome games I have on it.

Sounds like you should have bought a PS3. This is common place for new systems, it's going to take a good 6-12 months before it really gets going.

...Sorry man, but that is what happens when you buy systems when they first come out; they don't have a large library of games yet :(. No doubt the PS4 will be getting great games, and if you have PS+ along with some cross buy games like Flower/Flow/SteamWorld Dig/Fez and so on you can play them on PS4, but right now HUGE games that you listed aren't going to arrive on PS4 at least until the fall of this year.

That being said, there are still some great games on PS4 to play such as ACIV, Infamous Second Son, Killzone Shadow Fall (I think anyway), COD: Ghosts (it isn't nearly as buggy as Battlefield 4), TONS of indie games (that you might already have for free thanks to PS+) and F2P games like Blacklight and Warframe.

While I will echo the early responses to your comments about getting a PS3 instead, you did make a good decision getting a PS4 now, as when the big games arive, you don't have to shell out tons of money to play them :). If it means anything, both Last of Us and GTA V are rumored to land on PS4 sometime this summer, so those ports you want are coming :).

I know what Blackgate is, but the post still doesn't inform the reader what it is. Same with RO. Though, it is apparently a hunting game and not a fighting game or turn based strategy game.

The Drop said:
The original Blackgate experience is amplified with new enemy encounters, maps, batsuits, and enhanced visuals. Delve deeper into the Dark Knight’s past through a combination of stealth and free-flow combat.
This is a Batman game where you probably play Batman, maybe it takes place sometime in the past. It has stealth and combat. It aldo has enemies, maps, costumes, and graphics.

Ummm... Okay. Thanks. This tells me almost nothing. Let me see if I'm not lazy enough to re-write this.
Me said:
The original handheld exclusive Blackgate experience is added to with new enemy encounters, batsuits, maps, and upgraded visuals. Delve into the Dark Knights past with this continuation of Batman Origins that combines Batman's signature stealth and free flow combat into a 2.5D game.
This is middle school stuff. If I was a teacher I'd take some of these excerpt and make my kids re-write them so the reader knows what's going on. They'd have fun making up genres and themes too.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with my PS4 purchase, it was simply Sony showing off how much indie support they had on E3 made me expect them to have much more, but I am sure content will be in full swing this time next year. I actually do already own a PS3, which had a ton of games on PSN with great sales. I assume PS4 will get better over time. But personally if I was a Indie dev myself or a major publisher, I would bring Indie games or ports now before the huge games like Destiny drop. Another issue I have is price, I would have bought Injustice on PSN if it was £15. But I think its £40 which I won't touch. I guess prices should start coming down and sales will appear later down the line. Tomb Raider and Thief sales is a good start I guess.

RO was terrible imo. I only spent $20 on it and I still feel like I wasted my money. It's a hunting game with all of the good stuff taken out and replaced by generic designs and boring monsters. The changes Ace makes are pretty negligible and can't save RO imo.

Okay, then you are in a good spot with having a PS3 to hold you over until the bigger PS4 games drop :). As for the sales, its not fair to expect Sony to be nearly as aggressive with the PS4 sales as they have been with the PS3/Vita (my god, they are just too good; getting Killzone Mercenary for 9 bucks and Puppeteer for 7.50...that's just crazy man!), as the PS4 library as of now isn't that big and with the system and games being so new...publishers see no point of dropping down the prices that low yet.

That being said, I do agree with you about the lack of ports to the PS4; with there being no major releases (outside of Metal Gear, Infamous and Titanfall), now is the time for the 'Definitive Editions' of many great games like GTAV, Fallout New Vegas, Elder Scrolls Skyrum, and so on to be flooding the PS4, but developers need time to port their games over and optimize them to work with the PS4 (it cannot be nearly as simple as just plopping the game from console to PC...I think at least?)

Either way, there are some great indie games on PS4 like Fez and SteamWorld Dig out for the system along with some games you may have missed (plus the fact that you have a PS3 means you have great games like South Park Stick of Truth and Dark Souls 2 to keep you busy :)).

Seems I have to skipped this one too.

I personally wouldn't call it terrible as I spent a lot of time in the original, I enjoyed it quite a bit actually. That being said, given the tremendous glut of hunting games available on the Vita there are way, waaaay, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better ways to spend your money if that's the kind of game you're looking for.
