What's the absolute worst game you paid money for in the 7th generation?

I got Phantasy Star Universe for PC the day it came out. So little content it was insulting. That and I made the mistake of signing up for a 6 month sub before even trying the game. Oops.

I'll never, ever in my life understand people who are like "This game was HORRIBLE and I hated it....but I still beat it/put like 30 hours into it."

Have some self respect.

what the hell, some people are posting some great games. Well those people must be constantly playing some of the best games ever made.
You wanna know what a legitimate waste of cash was?

This fucking piece of fecal matter.

I don't usually pay $60 for games but I bought 1 game this generation for $60 and it was Duke Nukem Forever. I have been waiting for it since 1999. I thought it couldn't be as bad as everyone was saying. My thoughts were "everybody just wants to hate it because it will make a better story to say it is bad and people just don't understand the dated gameplay". Boy was I wrong. The game is a piece of shit. Kept asking myself "who thought this would be fun?".

This game SINGLED HANDLED made me stop pre-ordering and buying a game at release.
Day one, $60………Still mad about it.

NEVER again will a developer burn me like that. I've lost ALL trust from that point forward.

Cant believe I forgot about this. Another 60 dollar burn thankfully one of my brother friends bought it off me for forty dollars so I didn't get screwed too badly

I don't know what gen 3DS falls into but

You know when a game controls are broken when the publisher had to ship an alternative stand for a handheld game.

This had the dubious honor of being the only game I traded in.

I was so afraid to buy this game because of some negative comments that it's "unplayable".

After some time I got it Used (came without the stand) and....... I had a blast.

It's still my favorite 3DS game and BY FAR the best "new ip" (ok, it's a reboot) nintendo has released in years

Final Fantasy XIII-2 . Cringe worthy dialogs , nonsensical plot and boring gameplay made me sell the game 1 week after buying it .

This thread is why reviews are a good thing. I've never bought a bad game. Bioshock Infinite is the closest thing to a bad game I can remember and I waited for that to be $20.

Hour of Victory.

I also only paid five bucks and I bought it on purpose.

First thing that came to mind was actually SSX, which I paid full price for at its launch. I don't think there's been a single more disappointing game in two and a half decades I've been playing videogames. What an absolute festering pile of shit.

No ways, man. Reviews can't be trusted. As far as I recall every site reviewed Skyrim on PS3 really well.

final fantasy 13,hands down

i paid 15 euros for that and pick it up just to give it to gamestop after a couple of weeks to get a discount on day one Bayonetta, and I still felt robbed

PC counts, right? Maybe something on Steam that I haven't played yet.

Other than that.....Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz was pretty bad due to some awful controls IMO, I think I'd go with that. Close is Asphalt: Urban GT for the DS is a pretty horrid racer that's the poster child for "bad/mediocre games I bought because of launchitis". And while it's probably not the worst game I paid money for, Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow for the DS is probably the worst RPG I've played by a decent margin.

Worst game I didn't pay for is probably Sonic Free Riders. Also, I haven't played it yet, but someone who works at Namco gifted me Knight's Contracted which I've heard is horrendous.

Brink is definitely up there.

Bayonetta on PS3 takes the cake though, absolute turd.

Edit: In light of recent posts, I'm not trying to shit on anyones favourite game in Bayonetta, I think it's an awesome game, the PS3 port was just really, really poor.

These type of threads always turn to shit. It's basically a fuck your favorite games thread. For fucks sake somebody said the The Last of Us. God damn, GAF. I don't even.

Halo 4. Loved Halo 3, didn't really like what they added in Reach, but i was not expecting the game to be so bad in multiplayer.

If we can count MMOs, Star Wars: The Old Republic. I don't even like Star Wars. I somehow got on the hype train, and bought it full price. Didn't even end up playing for the whole free month.

Yeah, responses tend to be split between:

A)Obviously terrible games (shovelware, shitty licenses, launch games)
B)Dogpiling on the games everyone loves to hate (Other M, FFXIII)
C)"Your favorite game is SHIIIIIIIIT," many of which are probably just trolling.

To be honest I'm surprised I'm seeing more of A than B or C. I kinda figured it'd be "Final Fantasy XIII: The Thread" with occasional TLoUs for trolling purposes.

Uncharted 1 and Assasin's Creed 1 (for 360). I usually don't buy really bad games, I read reviews and opinions online etc. Not to mention that my backlog is so big that I might have worse games in my collection.

I actually finished Uncharted 1. Not unplayable, just horribly repetitive and quite tedious. 5/10 material. Dragged on and on. On the other hand, Uncharted 2 is a solid game, but little overrated IMO.

I'm currently playing Ass Creed 1 (Yeah, I'm playing the series for the first time) and after playing it for a few hours I think it's a mess. The definition of repetitive. WTF are those modern day "sections"? I have no idea what's going on. Historical setting is cool, though. But overall, I'm not impressed.

Oh, and I got both used for like 10€ each, so not a big deal.

I'm sure a lot of people are putting Sonic 06 down, but I actually liked that game despite all it's issues. It's got the same confused peyote fever dream dream feeling as Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 (and Shadow the Hedgehog) which gives it some real entertainment value for me, and if anything the fact that it shipped in a pre-beta state makes it all the better.

I'd say the most absolutely unenjoyable thing I've payed money for in that gen would have to be Afro Samurai. I still have it on my shelf because I love the idea of it so much, but I just can't stand to play it.

Seems like most of you made out pretty well if games like GTA IV or Mass Effect 2 were the worst games you paid money for.

I was fairly lucky, I made it through most of the seventh generation with little shovelware in my possession. Probably something like Battles of Prince of Persia for the DS or one of those licensed Lord of the Rings games would be the actual worst, but I never expected much from them anyway.

Most disappointing? Child of Eden. Unfun, lame remixes used for the stages (the original songs were so much better), and it made you replay the game over and over and over and over.
