Rough launch aside, would you say the PlayStation 3 eventually became the best console of the 7th gen?

It has an amazing library of exclusives, but... the flimsy controller and the HORRIBLE install times ruins it. Xbox 360 was so much faster and better to use.

There were times where you had to wait 30 minutes for games just to install some trash the game needed to boot on the PS3, still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The UI is also pretty weak on the PS3 compared to the 360 blades.

I always felt the Xbox 360 had a bigger effect in that generation with its achievements, NXE dashboard, party chat that was standard across games. The PS3 had a nice run towards the end, but it was really Naughty Dog that held up the PS3.

In it's later state, maybe. But man, the 360 was doing SO much better for the longest time. Loved its dashboard a lot more as well. I couldn't stand the PS3's dashboard for a LONG time.

I had both consoles, and I think about my time with the 360 over the PS3 moreso, so I guess that says a lot.

That being said I really did enjoy my time with Warhawk and Resistance. Last of Us as well. But everything else was 360 for me, lol.

No, because the Uncharted games were the only good exclusives. I borrowed a friends PS3 just to play the Uncharted games.

By comparison Xbox 360 had some amazing exclusives (and timed exclusives)

Oblivion
Bioshock
Mass Effect 1 and 2
Halo 3, ODST, Reach, 4
Gears of War series
Fable 2

Also most/all cross platform games ran better on the Xbox 360 eg Oblivion, Skyrim

Wii has more unique and fun exclusives, and the 360 has one of the best shmup libraries of all time as well as some other cool exclusives. I can only think of a couple games I would still want to play for PS3.

FolksSoul, Everybody's Golf 5, Uncharted, R&CF: Tools of Destruction, Motorstorm, Resistance and Boku no Natsuyasumi 5. Sorry you fell for the "PS3 was bad in 2007" meme.

Forgive me. There are so many horrendous takes on here, jokes like this is indistinguishable from very bad opinions that some will sincerely defend as if it was something upon which their very lives depended.

The only horrendous thing there was that I somehow put a 5 after Boku no Natsuyasumi (probably due to Everybody's Golf 5...) when it's clearly the third game I'm talking about - and the fifth one doesn't even exist -. Fixed!

Plus some 3rd Party games that eventually did come to PS3 often ran like shit compared to the 360 version. Sony did release some great 1st party stuff late in generation then.

Also arguably PS+ was much better then because online wasn't locked behind it. Sony was forced to put really good monthly games on service and offer really good sales to entice people to subscribe.

Yes because they were able to build the best library of exclusives, third parties learned to use the hardware properly while Microsoft lost its way after the first two years focusing on Kinect trash and starting to wind down their first output except for Halo, Forza, Gears.
Overall 360 was better until 2007, 2008 was a transition/swapping positions year and since 2009 PS3 became the better system.

No.

- Stupid price

- 1st controller didn't even have vibration

- Terrible online platform compared to Xbox live.

- Installs could take ages

- No games that interested me, always found the Uncharteds auto-pilot Marvelized games, couldn't give a shit about the weebo Jrpgs, Killzones were the epitome of "meh" when you could be playing the Halos, The Resistances were also meh.
GOW3 I liked, same with TLOU.

It boggles the mind how people consider it a better console than the PS4, heck, I've spent way more time with my PS5 (no games console®) than I ever did with my PS3.

To this day, the PS3 and the Wii are the worst, least used consoles I've ever owned (although the Wii was especially shit-tacular).

For single player yes but multiplayer/co-op wise no. I cherish that more personally, Nothing topped Halo, Gears & Fable co-op & that's something I always appreciated about the 360 even up to it's final days is that every 1st party game came with multiplayer in mind. Made releases within the friend group even more exciting as well.

I loved the 360 early on. It was my console of choice right up until about 2010 or 2011. But I was impressed by how PS3 came back. If I could go back in time, I would have spent more time on PS3 instead. The Wii? Fastest I ever got rid of a new console. I think my turnaround time was 3 weeks on that one. Never looked back.

So, yeah. I'd say that for me the PS3 ended up being the best console of that gen in my eyes.

Its literally not a debate at all, rough start but by the end its library was absolutely killer and just like every other gen set it apart from Xbox. Fuck the Wii…

The one PlayStation gen I didn't buy. After multiple console failures between the PSX and PS2, I went with the 360 instead.
"My Xbox is rock solid, Microsoft really knows how to build console hardware!"
My Vulcan-like logic was flawless, the 360 was clearly the superior choice.

I went through three RRoD's and the fourth console finally lasted the remainder of the gen.

Picked up a PS4 at launch and the optical drive stopped working after a year or so, then I had the overheating issues after that.

I have shit luck with hardware.
