Explanation
Yup, Google is back to its April 1st tricks, and they're going all-out this year. The video sets up an augmented reality game that lets you go out into the world and catch "real" Pokémon through you phone's camera. That's the April Fool's joke. But since this is Google, it doesn't just end with the video - as of right now, Google Maps on Android and iOS is actually populated with Pokémon creatures all over the world. Zoom in to major cities and you'll see Nintendo's little critters hanging out on the standard map view (you have to zoom in really far).

It's also in Gaming but figured OT would like this as well. Google Maps April Fools thing for this year.

In the search bar there's an option to go to the "pokemon lab", which is apparently in Geneva.

A bunch of pokemon near there.

Also found a Psyduck in Seattle.

Shit, I thought you literally had to go outside to catch pokemon. That would've been so much more awesome but this is cool too.

(MAKE IT HAPPEN NINTENDO)

Was hoping to find some in some remote locations but so far, haven't spotted any in places like Antarctica, Galapagos, or the North Pole. And not that I expected it to, but there doesn't seem to be any logic involving their placement on the map (which would be way too much work for something like this).

Thought it was randomly generated, guess not. I have a Sylveon outside my house! Nintendo must have collaborated for this...right?

Caught 28 of them so far, there's a bunch in NYC in and around central park.

Plus some in Toronto and Ottawa :P
