[AprilFools] Google Maps: Pokémon Challenge

There is a Rotom in Iceland pretty much near the middle of the island. Off Hellishei-something-or-other near the junction of 1 and 39.

I wonder if this is a clue to a Nintendo Google relationship.

Nintendo is not the type of company to lend their IP to others.

Y'know what? I hope this is the beginning of a stronger partnership between Nintendo and Google. Pokemon is pretty much the only system-selling franchise Nintendo has left, and working with Google on online integration, and perhaps even an AR pokemon game for Android (as hinted at in the video), would make the company a ton of money, and wouldn't technically count as being a pokemon game going mobile (as I'm sure you would be able to integrate the Pokemon into X and Y or whatever).

It isn't a Pokemon MMO, but it's probably as close as we're ever going to get.

Does anything happen? I'm on 80 and wondering whether it's worth carrying on.

Nothing really happens afterwards, but the search was fun!

Try looking in Bermuda's Triangle or in the Amazon (Brazil). Mew's location seems to have a random pattern, so there's no guarantee that it might be there.

Iwata's did say they would look at new licensing opportunities for its franchises. They've also worked with Google for various apps on Wii U and 3DS.

Don't know if anyone else here knows, but Google has a surprise for everyone who caught 150/151 Pokemon during the April Fools challenge:

Thanks for an Absol-utely amazing #pokemonchallenge, trainers.

Though we aren't hiring any Pokémon Masters this #AprilFools, leave a comment of where you found the 150th (or 151st) Pokémon by 12 am on 4/21 for a surprise.

Maybe it's just a Google Play gift card?
