I wish the Blue Sentinel convenant would work more. >.> I had the ring equipped for most of the game for one of my builds but I only got summoned like once. Maybe it'll work better in NG+

don't listen to the these liars just
pull the lever,
it will make your Dark souls 2 experience even more memorable trust me.

I've been a sinner my whole time through NG+ and only got invaded for the first time last night, while fighting two NPC red phantoms at the time - so I got ganked in about 3 seconds. Was excited it finally happened, but terrible timing.

I get invaded by blues constantly in ng+.

Finished the game and everything I wanted to do before I try NG+. Very cool being able to see your total deaths. I ended with 293 deaths in my 77 hour playthrough.

If I infuse a chime with a bolt stone, does it work better for lightning spells? Only have one, don't want to waste it on experimenting.
likely it will improve your lightning attack damage if you hit someone on the head with the chime...nothing more.

on NG+, I am trying to open the
Shrine of Winter
before having to get all the
proper lord souls
. There is TONS of conflicting information about how this is achieved, but it looks like for NG, you must have 1 million souls in soul memory, and NG+ you must have acquired 2 million in your soul memory specifically on that playthrough (which means the number of souls memory you see is across all your playthroughs with that character, and doesn't help when trying to figure out how many you need to unlock this.

I also read that you need souls on hand, so I haven't used any souls for the past few days, unless I absolutely need to. Now I am running around with 1,200,000 souls on hand, which is fun in a strangely tense way. When I die, shit is real until I get back to my souls. All in all, they represent about 1/6 of all the souls I have collected ever for that character.

wikidot says 6million in soul memory in NG+, but this is wrong since I have surpassed that and it isn't opening. I read that the official guide says incorrect info about this. Does anyone know the actual system that the game uses?
I can guarantee that for NG I had few souls in hand if any. I could not open it when I found it, but did not have the OLd Iron Kng soul the first time, and not likely over 1M SM. I had two souls, Giant, and OLD Iron King plus 1.5 M SM when I successfully tried in NG, I will update if I get there in NG+.

I still kill the host though, it let's me hit them as they're entering a fog gate.

They're dying either way, the auto-disconnect is just stealing a victory from me...

Oh yeah, in that case, I agree, it should not disconnect until they are in the invulnerable part of the fog gate animation.

I had 1.2 million in soul memory, almost none on hand, and just two great souls in inventory and made it to the castle this weekend.

Nope, it would actually increase the lightning damage/scaling. I infused the chime of want with dark knight stone. Even though it already scaled S with dark, it still improved quite a bit.

Definitely a lot harder in DS2. I don't even bother. In fact, I rarely parried. I did it a lot in DS1.

There's a second bonfire in Black gulch?!

There's also 2 other hidden area near the cliffs by the first bonfire. The second leads you down to two giants and they drop a key.

SL 178 in Iron Keep. I don't see any summon signs after
Smelter Demon

Are you in NG+? (dumb question).

I assume you also didn't already beat the boss at the end of Iron Keep right?

Though I have noticed that while I can place a summon down easily, I do have an issue with not seeing that many summons for me to summon in some areas. But I've always chop that up to some areas, like
Freja spider boss
being less popular.

I've found the best spot ever in pharros to stand when your grey summoned. Just stand and block and you are protected from everything.

Yeah NG+ :P
Nope the last boss at the end of Iron Keep is still alive ;)

Do sins stack? I killed an NPC and I'm at SL152. I owe 152,00 souls. If I kill more NPCs will the price go up or will it stay the same?

Its for a quest for a guy in
aldia keep, you have to release him first so when you enter the mansion look for a lever and pull it

Oh shit I forgot about him. Every time I think I'm ready for NG+ I remember about something else there is to do.

Man I wore that damn ring all the fucking time in ng and didn't get summoned once! I mean at least 30 hours worth of wearing the ring while human. Not once. Tried to invade with my blue stone maybe 10 or 15 times (not a lot I suppose, but still) and only got that to work once!

So, amen, here's to it working better in NG+.

Oh btw I am still stuck with the Witch catalyst, is there any more like sorcerer catalyst in the game? because this catalyst have more stats oriented for hexes

Nice!

I have to admit I have not played my hex character for a while...but my mellee character keeps finding good shtuff he could use. BTW, did you say you used an ascetic to get southern ritual band? My Melee chick found a SRB +1 in Tseldora....in NG...just lying around...is yours +2?

the sunset staff seems to be a gooder for dark hexes as well as regular magic.

Yes, the southern ritual band is +2. It grants 3 spell slots. It drops from NG+ Najka. The boss is still easy. Thankfully the lion guys are easy to run past, because they do not flinch at anything I can throw at them at all. They seem incredibly resistant to all forms of magic.

By the time I got enough twinkling for the sunset staff to outclass my Archdrake staff, I had already switched to using hexes that you cast with chimes almost exclusively.

btw.: what is the stat to look at on staffs and chimes?

in dark 1 it was magic adjustment.

Magic bonus (INT), lightning bonus (FTH), dark bonus (both)

Is there a youtube vid or a solid strat to get the chest in iron forge that has the pyro spell? Not sure what I'm doing wrong or if there's an easier way. Help lol
Here's how I did it.

-Move that platform that you can raise and lower so that you can reach the ladder behind it
-Up the ladder you can use a Pharros' Lockstone to create a pool of water
-Best fire resistance gear (while staying fast, fall damage reducing items help as well), flash sweat, small orange purr, rolling in the pool of water
-Rush to the the platform above the lava, eat 2 old radiant life gems (overkill, but just to be sure), jump down and easily get both items without losing any health.

I did it as fast as I could because I heard the water pool buff runs out pretty fast. I'm not sure if it's all that necessary though.
Edit: This was for the latter chest, first chest is similar, just easier.

Where is his 3rd location? I got the one in shaded woods and black gultch.
Drangleic Castle
down a hole in the room with all the ruin sentinels

Apparently that dude in aldia keep has two spell if you complete his quest that is necessary for the trophies, guess i'll get around to it in NG+. Kinda fucked now doing it earlier ugh

in dark 1 it was magic adjustment.

Its still the same, the number ranges from below 100 to a max of 260 or so. But you have to consider the type of action you are taking, i.e. spell, pyro, miracle, hex....magic, fire, lightning, dark magic adjust for each catalyst. Some catalysts have multiple ability to use different things a la talisman of beasts from Demon's, but most only have two sources they can channel. There are actually many miracles for example that demand a chime you would think, because it is lightning damage and that is faith and that is miracles. But as long as the catalyst, chime or staff, says on the stats page that it has spell adjust in that element (in this case lightning) it can perform that miracle. There are not that many that can do this, but there is one staff that can perform all 4, including fire, and it has a 220 max spell adjust across the board...pretty useful IMO, but the highest damage from each spell usually comes from a dedicated catalyst for its damage type....usually in the mid 200's fully upgraded, but the idea of infusing more sounds snickeringly devilish!!!.

So, is infusing totally pointless? I've got 40dex/40 faith and made my +5 manslayer infused with poison and it gutted my damage. I've never seen a boss get poisoned, ever. I made my Blacksteel katana lightning infused and it also gutted my damage. I thought infusing was supposed to be decent with faith? I've basically gutted my damage.
