Infamous isn't some graphical master piece.

Lets be honest here it looks very flat and like a cross gen game.

I saw it yesterday and was quite impressed. Now that this is the PS4 version, I'm even more impressed.

(PS4 version) preorder uncancelled.
 
Was this video made for the purpose of convincing me to switch from the PS4 version to the PC version?
I think it was made mostly as a way to convince people that the game wouldn't look as shitty as the last gameplay footage showed (which really doesn't take that much).
But people should be very wary of the fact this is just a tech demo on a devkit, anyway, and it has yet to be seen how much of this will transition to the final build of the game.

Of course, that won't happen right now because everyone is way too busy gloating on how amazingly powerful the PS4 is and how they showed it to those PC elitists, to realize everything can change at any moment in development.

I'm so glad i love my life and gaming. Just confirmed around 100 npcs on screen in certain areas at once. Each npc has there own brain and reacts differently.

This just in, games have gameplay.

Who cares if ISS looks better you cant do much in the game with interacting with world or its citizens and there is no side content that grabs me at all. #Isthisreallife
 
Infamous SS might be really clean to a console gamer's eye, but I still notice lots of shader aliasing and I'm not satisfied. I like to use a combination of MSAA and SMAA (or sometimes FXAA depending on the game) or super sample anti-aliasing, TXAA, or downsampling.

Also, just because SMAA works decently well in this game doesn't mean that it will achieve the same results in other games. SMAA works best with highly contrasted edges and Infamous SS is a very colorful game with high contrast so it's essentially a best case scenario. It also uses a lot of motion blur, depth of field, light shafts and other lighting and post process effects that tend to help conceal the aliasing.

I don't agree that devs won't differentiate PC versions as much as last generation. I'm seeing quite the opposite. This is the very beginning of the generation, which is the time when consoles are nearest to high end PCs that they will ever be, but all of the multiplats I have played so far--Battlefield 4, Thief and AC4--all look quite a bit better on my PC than on my PS4. And like I said, this is the very beginning of the generation. The gap is only going to widen over time.

Graphics gap will be wider if Nvidia paid them for exclusive features or more development time.

Most games will be same graphics on console and PC but up to 1080p vs up to 4K.

So is that time of day gif legit? Cause the NPCs in that are moving as fast as the shadows being cast from the time of day enviroment.

Mmm, very true, curious to see what the final build turns out to be. I'm hoping reviewers will compare the footage we saw at E3, both in 2012 and 2013 to the final build, and provide comments on whether it's remained the same, or changed negatively or positively.
 
Why were people impressed in the first place?

In any case, I have no doubt the game will be competent technically. It's the actual game content that I'm worried about.
 
You know this is probably the best to do out of a bad situation. After all the crap they got for the infamous [second son amirite] car comparison gif and the story trailer, chances are this was done to show some of the better shots of the game to make people think it was PC so they say "it looks better than ps4 at least" and now that they revealed it to be ps4, they'll get a bit more goodwill from PS4 people and PC people hoping it looks even better.

It was really impressive footage when I thought it was from the PC version, but now I know it's actually from the PS4 version, the graphics are still pretty shoddy.

4k is pointless as long as it remains tied to LCDs, though.
 
Maybe the reason they wont show PC footage is because they have a deal with Sony, Or the fact it looks considerably better than next-gen console footage and they dont want to risk people not buying the inferior version as let's be honest, Ever since last year it's all been about looks, Specs, Visuals etc and not gameplay which is trivial but the world we live in.

Personally i'll get it for my ps4 as dont have a PC and my laptop wouldnt run it better than the ps4 version, But it's been a clusterfuck ever since that initial reveal mixed with games like GTAV/ISS stealing it's limelight somewhat.

The gameplay in that trailer looks real fun to be fair and such a shame its been an afterthought.
 
This is so hilarious, I've always wanted something like this to happen just to see what would be exposed and how psychological this console and PC war really is. I hope we can all remember this and people can admit when they're wrong.
 
In fact, a lot of reflections are innaccurate and shadows are missing in 2012 reveal. But you know, it's 2012 and people memories and emotions are strong.

No shadows for the car into the gas station.

Fantastic thread, shows that lots of people simply sees what they want to see, I'm guessing that if it would've been labeled as the X1 version we would see talk about downgrades instead :)

Because these are all flaws that people have pointed out in more recent footage to claim some kind of 'downgrade' from the initial reveal trailer (from which this gif is taken), and MaLDo is pointing out that the flaws have always been there.
 
Which gpu are you using? I can't hold 60 fps on ultra using a gtx680 so I'd be curious to know which 3 year old $200 gpu can do it so well.

not locked. it hovers around 53 to 60FPS most of the time unless there are a lot of things going on (eg: the levolution on siege of shanghai)... then it dips to 45 to 50FPS. I did not mean that the GPU is 3 years old either, i meant that i changed my GPU once in the last 3 years from a GT440.
