Oh wow, those fucking Giant's hit like a fucking freight train and are seemingly impossible to dodge. They just track where you land too. Any advice?

Well, I just beat the game. Pretty underwhelming honestly. I don't know why anyone says this game has the back end packed with the best content, I really don't.

I feel like a lot of the equipment was a huge letdown for Dex characters too. I ended the game using Heide Sword/Spear and Lightning Shortbow. Never found anything better, not even a decent Longbow the entire game. Never used a single boss soul to make anything.

This is definitely the easiest of the three games.

I still liked it, but the best content is pretty much the entire middle. The beginning and the end are weak.

Same as above, poison arrows. It's slow going and you'll probably run out of time but keep at, they'll eventually stop spawning. Shitty advice I know but that's how I did it.

git gud

use firestorm, use spells like lighting spear, etc. I farmed that area dry in less than 5 minutes per run with my spells and i'm not even a hardcore mage

EDIT: Whoops i thought you were talking about the dudes in the Ancient dragon area, anyway the same principle applies.

I'm just the worst at PVP, I really am. I invade someone and feel like more of a nuisance than anything. "Haha! You had to use an estus because of me!" *dies*

Which is cycle 3 or 4? I hope it's 3.

Playthrough 3.

When I would do invasions, I almost always won by playing aggressively. It's like the majority of people in Dark Souls are afraid to fight other humans, so I would just pressure the shit of them with a big strength weapon (Claymore/Mastodon Greatsword/etc) while they played defensively. Used guard breaks for the greatshield bros. Worked really well the majority of the time.

Any tips for the Royal Rat Assembly in the Doors of Pharros?

Warning, my spoiler isn't hints but actual information on how to beat (just in case).
Stay under his legs (regardless of if you cast or melee). If you have pyromancy, firestorm him. I'm a hexer (40INT, 30 FAI) and it only took me 3 firestorms with a +2 dark glove (would've been two, but I miscalculated my first attack).

Just had a guy invade me while I was in D
ragon Shrine
trying to take on the boss there. For shits and giggles I ran away from him and then used a Seed of the Tree of Giants. Had a nice vantage point to watch him as all the enemies suddenly turned on him and massacred him.

I need more of those things.

I had a guy invade me in DS too. I was afk, and sitting next to the bonfire. He just ran around the room doing camo tricks, and gestures. He saw me move, and was going to kill me, but, I kept doing the "have mercy" gesture and it worked. He bowed and then left. What a nice guy.

Few story questions from the opening:

In the opening cinematic, the talked about the curse appearing. I never understood, is it random or is a person preselected when they are born and destined to be cursed? And what exactly does it do - not allow true death? Does it also change the psychology of the cursed (based on the opening?)

Also, if Drangleic is just another kingdom, why did it require a portal to enter? Where is the player character coming from?

My highest rated message is " Women ahead therefore try Rear"

Goodness me.
One of the most ingenious ones: "Try destroy but hole"
(Won't say where I saw it.)

As long as we're sharing, my highest rated is "Pointless..."
On the ledge above the fire newt tunnel in FoFG that you can just about jump across from the fallen tree.

Also, here is my new STR character. So glad I found that armour after the Pursuer fight. It suits him perfectly!

Just look at this mofo... Captain Drummond's cape combined with power stance fists is overflowing with swag.

This is my latest build at the start of today, way before I entered NG++ and such. I'm now level 248 in NG++

I also beat A
ncient
D
ragon
in NG+ on first try. Boy do you get so many souls! The K
ing
took me a few tries though. I keep getting greedy! But I did it in the end. And now I am in NG++.

Btw: Not 30 minutes into NG++, and I've already been invaded twice! damn. :)

won't open with 11.5m Soul Memory. Well. I guess I should go after at least one of the big bosses.

How the fuck a I supposed to beat
Giant Lord
? He 2 hits me, and the fire bombs kill me in 1 fucking hit. The area you fight him in his super small, and he has stupidly long range. I can't get near him, I can't attack him from afar. Is there some kind of trick to beating him?

I just stayed around his legs and had no problem...

For the bombs, try getting more HP I guess. Equip a Life Ring. How much Vigor do you have?

Time it right. There's a small staircase to the left of him that you can go up and puts you on a landing slightly above him. He kind of gets stuck on the edge and if you bait him into his large swing attacks you can dodge and then beat him up.

just run through and stop around the Ballista when you run out of stamina (stick to the right side) to doge the rolling head. then run to him. he's pretty easy. just stay around his feet strafe him and doge if necessary. back off when he does his stomping attack. lock on his "chest" rather than his feet to see what he'll do next.

Stay under him and dodge. Don't fight him anywhere near the firebombs. He's not too hard.

Stay in between his legs, and close to his left, I believe. You should be safe. Also, those firebombs hit the exact same place every time. As long as you don't go running off, they will never hit the area where the Giant Lord stands.

Something I do too often in this game: Put down a summon sign at the beginning of an area for fun and to help with jolly co-operation. Get to the boss and then wonder why the hell no summon signs are appearing for me.

Can the Giant Lord be damaged by the firebombs?

The giant mace wielders at the Dragon Shrine are straight up the most bullshit enemies in the series. INFINITE STAMINA

These guys seriously fucking sucked, I finally just said screw it and either poison arrowed them from a ledge if they were guarding a chest/item, or in most cases just ran past them, same with the Giants after that. Not fun at all.

Word of warning: staying underneath it (like others have suggested) is a pain in the ass. The hitboxes on its attacks are laughably poor and occasionally you'll still get hit by its front paws even though you're hiding by its hind legs. The boss fight itself should be easy since it has very few attacks and they all leave him wide-open, but out of all bosses the Rat was the most obnoxious of them all to roll towards or away from. Blocking broke my guard too when I fought him on my first playthrough. I killed him by using a bow and some Lightning Spears exclusively (since battling him in melee range is an inconsistent load of shit), but I never want to face that boss ever again. Fuck the Rat.

Tonight I got the "player has returned to their world" a bunch of times when doing pvp, usually right before they die. They dont appear to be using items as their character simply stops taking damage just before the message pops up. Are they pulling their Internet or something else, its fucking annoying.

Pretty close to platinum'ing this game. Just need the Master of Pyromancy, Master of Miracles, and Bernhart's trophy. Thank god
Wellager
sells covenant spells in NG++, I would never have gotten them otherwise save the Heirs of the Sun stuff, which was my first covenant to max out rank. Solaire would be so proud.

Was watching my brother play Diablo 3 on hardcore mode, made me think what if Dark Souls had a hardcore one life-pemanent death mode. Would be glorious. The sense of urgency and armpit sweat would be tenfold.

Would be excellent for all achievement hunters as well. ;)
