Honestly, if we got a demo I'd be fine with the main game getting delayed to 2015. Nintendo doesn't really seem to do demos at all though, so I doubt this would ever happen.
Smash demo means hackers can hack in-game data, and therefore leak roster if data is present (which it's way more work to clean up demo game files than you'd think). PSASBR did this, if i recall. I doubt nintendo wants any leaks ever. Don't count on a demo (for more reasons than the one i mentioned).
This makes sense, except that they won't probably make a dedicated Direct just to announce a delay. They could very well announce it in the bimonthly Direct that was anyhow supposed to happen in April. Like DK delay was announced.
I'm still betting on a summer release.
Until now there was no game focused direct other than an announcement direct (1st Pokemon direct in Jan/Feb 2013, MH 4) or close to the release (W101, NSMBU, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pikmin 3, 2nd Pokemon Direct, 2nd MH4 direct). SSB4 was already "announced" at E3 2013. If this is a Direct just for more details, than it would be a really new thing.

Yea but I dont see them having a full Nintendo Direct just to end up telling us the game is delayed to 2015. They would just do that at E3, and continue to not talk much about the game outside of pic of the day.
When DKCTF got delayed they throw up the logo in a ND and said it was pushed back a few months due to it needed a lil more time.
Now it may come out this fall but I doubt they are gonna have a Nintendo Direct to announce a years delay from the same company that never talks about games until about a month before they release.

That would be stupid. Why do a dedicated ND for it? Why do it now, when MK8 is in full hype and no one expects SSB4 until November? Before the E3? Cover MK8 and E3 info with the delay of SSB4? No, not even Nintendo wouldn't do something that stupid.

I'd be okay with that but the only downfall is that Nintendo has a limit of like 10 tries for a demo.

And honestly, because the more newcomers the better for a game that is already shaping up to be amazing. The fact that it's a new and exciting character, that has recently been reinvigorated so much and characterized so well with the Kid Icarus revival, makes her a prime candidate.

Except that Pokemon was announced in that Direct, 9 month before release. SSB was announced already at E3 2013.
And Pokemon got also a special direct before the release.

Pokemon already had a release date by the time that second Direct rolled around. For Smash, we have nothing more specific than 2014.
So yeah, the fact that we're getting a dedicated Smash Direct does not indicate anything new in regards to the launch date.
