Pic of the day. An insatiable, unidentified extraterrestrial is targeting a certain peaceful town…!

Other M Zero Suit Samus confirmed!

Good luck selling a machine that nobody wants. If Smash gets delayed until 2015, then Nintendo is literally doomed. What else could possibly revive the Wii U?

Like smash bros is going to do anything significant in terms of reviving the wii u. I'm excited for it too, but that ship has long since sailed, whether smash releases in 2014 or 2015.

If it needs to be delayed then they damn well better delay it rather than give us another Wind Waker situation. Delivering a good, complete game is more important than anything.

Stay tuned for the next time where Gonzo openly wonders why he has the reputation he has.

Gee, what reputation do I have? I can't think of a single game aside from Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. that could elevate Wii U sales to passable levels. That being said, I have a hard time believing the game will get delayed. I'd do everything in my power to make sure it gets out by the end of the year. Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors are not system sellers.

I'm surprised that you don't know the history behind this particular meme.
Really? I saw the video first and it's what I always see linked. I guess there's no real way to know since you can't tell the exact time YouTube videos are uploaded.
The post was first. The user behind that video does a lot of dramatisations.

I think, if Smash were delayed to 2015, it would not be a decision or announcement made now.

If it is, it speaks to something really dire going on with development.

^This, the initial Brawl delay announcement came two months before the initial release date and the second delay was weeks before the new release date. Even Tropical Freeze's delay was announced weeks before the release date. To not even have a release date and delay it THAT far would say something about the development

I don't think that makes sense. We've seen the game running months ago. Something really "dire" at this point only could happen if the single player side was really ambitious but it ran into a wall, but that doesn't seem likely either with comments about no movies or story focus. I don't see what they could be attempting to do that would result in an unforeseen problem. A late addition, like what happened with Brawl, seems much more plausible for a delay, but I just can't think of any series that would make up for a delay to 2015.

Final Fantasy is in a downwards spiral right now, and something like Call of duty, although very popular, is not really the kind of franchise that would make people pick up a game for its characters.
A running game does not necessarily mean it can't implode. Bioshock Infinite was running for a long time but they hit a wall on things they promised, so they repeatedly had to go back and take out this or rejigger that to be less ambitious. Such things can result in years of delays.

i just refuse to believe that it's delayed into 2015 only because of the timing of this direct

direct in april...but 2015? too painful

2016 release date confirmed :P

http://nintendoeverything.com/bandai-namco-hiring-for-smash-bros-6-which-launches-next-year/

Tatsuya Matsumura, a consultant who uploaded the ad, seems to still have all of his other recruitment ads live on the website
- Matsumura appears to have been in the business of a career consultant to connect developers and software companies with programmers and engineers since 2011
You'd think he'd be familiar enough with the business to realize what is/isn't a secret, and/or to double check his facts (though with the last part, I guess he can only do so much with what the companies tell him).

You're mentioning Bioshock, which is a single player and story based game though. I don't see how an arena fighter could implode like that. How could they lose focus and direction if the core of the game are separate fighters and areas that don't really need to be unified, aside from balancing?

Something like that could only happen here if they've been extremely misleading regarding the single player content, considering the comments about no story or mode similar to Brawl's SSE, which seemed to indicate a simpler experience.

That is, unless the direct doesn't have a newcomer and the potd isn't posted early. If we don't get a website update Tue evening, we might still get one Wed, but i dont think anyone will be disappointed we DONT get one.

You underestimate the power of this thread. People will find a way.

I swear some of you just want to watch/believe in the world burning before you let things play out.

That being said, the listing being labeled Smash 6 is the weirdest part about this whole thing.

I used my photoshop skills to express myself : )

Should have used the Megaman face from this:

3DS = 4 and Wii U = 5. Or some variation thereof.

I recall Sakurai viewing them that way.

Correct.

Or, you know, the netcode is way more processor-intensive than they thought it would be and they have to pare down on aspects of the game and they can't tug at one string without the sweater falling apart.

I don't understand why everyone is reporting on and speculating on a JOB LISTING that may or may not have been full of typos. The heck!

I'm like 90% certain there is no 'SMASH 6' due out NEXT YEAR.

How anyone is taking a job listing that may or may not be accurate and may or may not even be real is beyond me.

Brawl already had online though and this game is based on Brawl's engine, I don't see from where this unforeseen processor intensive code would be coming from...
Do you really think Nintendo would delay a game that much just for improved net code? The same Nintendo that shipped Brawl and didn't care about online most of the time?

I don't even understand why it's called smash bros 6. We're still on the 4th game.

It was posted in the last page. The 3DS and WiiU games are considered the 4th and 5th entries in the series.

Here.

Specifically, "We're now going into versions four and five within the series." He considers the two to be separate entries.

j/k

also lol at when's marvel

Maybe we will receive a remake of the first smash bross being considered the 4 entry in the series. And it will be a F2P game with paid DLCfor the new smash bross.

The same thing happened to Halo 2, I think. (Though that had no delay announcement.)

two metroid assists? i dunno about you but that screams "second character" to me

Animal Crossing may have 2 (Isabelle and Resitti). And Villager will most likely be the only playable character.

EDIT: How can there be a delay when tomorrow we are getting a Direct and a twitter account launch?

Wow that's kind of interesting. What the hell could "Smash 6" be?

If it is a delay, I'm okay with it. Honestly the release window we've had I thought was a bit too soon, since around E3 I recall them saying the game was still in early development. And the wait would be a lot less than when Brawl was announced to released.

If that's the case, then... Smash Bros 6 is Smash Bros "4+5": all the content from the Wii U SKU + all the content from the 3DS SKU + some exclusives arenas / 2-3 new characters. Available NOT on 3DS and Wii U, but the next Nintendo handheld, as a launch title. So, the listing was removed because the consoles were wrong, while SB6 and 2015 are correct.

*Nostradamus hat off*

I seriously hope it's not 2015. That would be awful
