I just finished No-man's Wharf on NG+ and took the ship to Lost Bastille. While taking the elevator up to the first bonfire in Bastille, I noticed there's a cavern of sorts with an item in it while riding the elevator, which I missed the first time.

How do you get to this item?

EDIT: nevermind, fairly obvious d'oh... Press the button while at the top so it goes down, then jump onto its roof. Voilá!

I think:
take the elevator to the top. Then stand on the button and get out quickly. Ride the elevator down while standing on top of it. (Jump on as it lowers.)

Edit: ha ha, you got it.

Yep, capping it for PVP. And now that I've beaten the D
arklurker
I'll pretty much be doing nothing but PVP until the PC version comes out.

I used 30 effigies on him, goddamn.

I really wonder if any level is going to stick as a PVP meta considering matchmaking is based on soul memory.

How do I kill bowman grabby in Doors of Pharros? I can't even get near him without dieing.
... who?

had a lot of fun at
Iron Keep
bridge, nice pvp spot, since I only have left
Darklurker
and the last boss, I have been dueling people there and in the bloodbros arenas, so far so good, I thou I was gonna be bodied like in DaS, but I have been winning pretty often, still, dudes with the "sonic boom" spiky greatsword always kill me lol, not salty deads at least

In the middle of my NG+ run, just beat Ruin Sentinels enroute to Lost Sinner...before I got sidetracked by Age of Wonders III. Dammit. I swear I didn't just drop the game or anything!

i can go to the final boss
nashandra or something
but i noticed in my bonfire menu i still had about 6 areas to go, so i decided to look up the areas and noticed that
the cleric woman in heide's tower went back to the entrance of that area and could rotate a device, making huntsman's copse accessible

this game has the same addictive qualitities as the predecessors, but some personal opinion following now

1) i play PS3, framerate, graphics are fine but there seems to be input lag, happens that i press x for estus, doesn't do and have to press again - in other games a mild annoyance, in a game where this can mean life or death very annoying
2) most fights have been made more difficult by just adding more bosses at same time OR mobs, something that i think cheapens the game, on the other hand the game is much easier because you can empty-farm mobs, so all in all balancing for me is not as good as in DS1
3) this game feels much more like King's Field than DS
(color pallette, use of the King's road and a ring to get through it, more linear, Drangleic Castle with the stone guards coming to life)
and i like that

It's perfect as just a +10 regualr weapon. If you are going Str there is no reason to scale it to anything else. I've found some weapons scale poorly with E or D ratings even maxed. Those I tend to add an attribute to them especially with my Str/Fai I put Lightning on them and they scale B or so with it which is great.

Keep the Greatsword regualr it scales A with str and that is awesome.

I have high str and faith, wonder if it should be kept with lightening. Should I just bring it back to normal?

About 150k. Didn't realize they were coming from behind as well, so got overwhelmed haha.

Ah - well it's not too bad. Could've been a lot worse lol.

This is really fucking stupid. it's not even fair. This Dark SPirit in Doors of Pharros kills me too fast, and he dodges all my magic. He kills me in 1 hit every SINGLE FUCKING TIME. I go to cast and i die, if I get off a spell I die. He has an insane range, and hits me from across the entire fucking map. I've died 12x now, i can barely even hurt him. How the fuck do they expect me to hit him when he FUCKING kills me in 1 hit? he dodges every last spell, and counters me.

You're always so angry lol.

What are your primary offensive attacks?

For those of you who are mainly Int/Faith builds. What weapons (non casting that is obviously) do you tend to use? I wonder if there are any decent swords or etc that are 20 or below in Str/Dex (or at least close to 20 in either).

I've currently upgraded to a Varangian Sword +10 (longsword) with Lightning bonus.

It's funny how peoples experiences wildly differ. I just managed to do DL in one go with flame swathe and chaos firestorm.

Where as I was about 9 or 10 attempts for Vendrick and others done it first time (with 5 souls). Gave up on Ancient Dragon.

It sounds like DL is pretty easy with a magic build. He was probably the hardest boss for me.

Those are very easy to dodge, so that can explain it. Try to use binoculars to aim your spell at a distance manually.

I can, but, the moment I attack he charges towards me, and dodges everything then. I got him down to 25%, and he heals up and kills me in 1 kill. That's the problem with this build, everything kills me in 1-2 hits. You get poisoned? You are dead.

I was amazed at how much I was summoned for the Ruin Sentinels in NG++. I hadn't done anything with the Sunbro covenant and was worried that it was going to take a long time to get the 30 medallions. About 2 hours in Lost Bastille and I had them.

Within seconds of putting down my sign, I was getting pulled into another world.

I got summoned in seconds for the LS - it was great.

I see. Tough times then I suppose. Is it not possible to backstep his attacks when he comes close? That takes less stamina than rolling but still gives some invincibility frames, and you should have more time to do your own attack.

I'm good at dodging, it's just this water ruins any momentum and drains the stamina, and with my low HP every hit is death.

Ah what covenant?

I currently in the Blue Sentinels invading sinners. So far so good, although my internet is going through a rough patch at the moment so I've had some real laggy matches.

And for me, Vendrick went down on my first go without me taking a single hit. I haven't tried Ancient Dragon yet... Maybe I should just for shits and giggles.

Is there a visual/audio effect when you succeed on bleeding an opponent? I never seem to notice when my opponent gets bled, so I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing.

The input lag is insane sometimes. The biggest one for me is like when I drink estus and hit right or left to switch weapons they don't do it like in DS1. They HAVE to be finished their action first

Could anyonehelpme transfer a few items from a character? I found rare fashion souls armor onmymain, and would like to equip it to replace the ugly ass lion armor.

Any suggestions for the A
ncient
D
ragon
with an hexer build? I managed to kill him with dragonrider bow and using a flame havel shield (for the flame attack) with my first character, but with the mage I have so little STR that I cannot even 2-hand the shield (or even gyrm shield, which has a good fire defense).

I could if you're on 360? Whats your soul history? I might be out of range for both of my characters.

UGH those red phantoms that spawn
in front of the King door to Throne of Want
are the biggest fucking pricks. Nothing worse than being sniped and meleed at the same time.

If you have a bow, you can poke your head out of the bonfire door and only pull one towards you.

I would recommend summoning some muscle and have them do the up-close work while you keep your distance. Any of the Hexes travel far?

My main problem is the OHKO flame attack (maybe with a lot of vit and fire defense a character can survive it but I definitely can't), I can deal good damage with hexes and lightning spear but when it does that move I'm fucked. And I can't seem to reliably bait him in doing its other moves, sooner or later I have to to deal with the flame. There's supposed to be an hex that gives invincibility for a short period of time, I could try that but I guess it doesn't last long enough.

You know there is a certain charm to playing the game offline.

I played through undead crypt offline, and its more more immersive when the floor isn't littered with messages, blood stains and summon signs.

I'm really liking the game so far, I thought
the chilling music playing when you find the king
was awesome! DS2 seems to be all about a game spread horizontally while DS was spread vertically. You can definitely still see most of the locations from the hub area just like you could from fire link. I think over time people will warm up to DS2 and love it just as much as DS :D I think the main quest in DS2 is much more cohesive, although both seem to have a deep hidden fiction which is awesome.

99.9% of the time I get my ass kicked when invaded, but hot damn... last night I put an invader down in the Undead
Crypt
.

It was one of the rare times I can say I used pure skill. :p

Truth be told I'm about 80 hours in and, other than grey spirits in
the bell locations and in the rat king's domain
, I've probably only been invaded a hand-full of times. All of those invasions have come post soul lv.70 or so.

Does that invasion chance generally ramp up as your soul level rises or something?

It sounds like DL is pretty easy with a magic build. He was probably the hardest boss for me.

he isn't free. i think i needed 4-5 tries with my dex build. keeping both in focus is key. the rest was typical dodge and stamina management. pretty fun fight actually. we needed more of those. they just have to make bosses anti magic in the next game. magic users still have it easy.

I was amazed at how much I was summoned for the Ruin Sentinels in NG++. I hadn't done anything with the Sunbro covenant and was worried that it was going to take a long time to get the 30 medallions. About 2 hours in Lost Bastille and I had them.

i'm not surprised. i think those were the hardest bosses for me in NG, solo. in NG+ i tried them again solo, and one shot them. practice paid off.

summon signs are more rare in ng+ onwards, too. that's why you get pulled instantly.

I've noticed not as many summon signs in NG+ and beyond as well. Perhaps more people want to summon people then to help others. Which explains why we are summoned so fast.

I really wonder if any level is going to stick as a PVP meta considering matchmaking is based on soul memory.

Which is why I kinda think the SL Meta is kinda silly if it doesn't influence anything (as far as I heard). But I generally don't care about that anyways.

Then again, I'm new to the series. So I never experienced Dark Souls 1, where I heard that actually did limit it based upon SL. So I obviously don't have this same mindset as the rest of you.

Anyone recommend the best fire to upgrade without it being a massive hindrance in NG+? I am thinking Heidi's Tower as that is where I levelled up quite a bit early game, but don't want to make it un-passable in light of the bosses getting powered up too.
