Apparently, Super Smash Bros. is delayed to 2015, and the Direct tomorrow is to soften the blow.

Like already mentioned in this topic, and overlooked by that article, Sakurai has referenced the 3DS and Wii U games as versions "4" and "5" of the series.

It's because Japan's Smash Direct is on the 9th. It confused me on when the 9th was in the US

A delay just means a more polished game for the most part.

Sounds pretty clear to me, Smash delayed till 2015. I am fine with that as long as they bring out Zelda this year instead of next year.

With the state of the Wii U, nintendo can't afford a delay at all. If the game isn't done, i'm totally ok with the '2nd' half being released later as free DLC, if it's content that is missing from the game.

you mean the one that they release a zelda console game every 3 years except for OoT and SS (5 years each). SS came out 3 years ago this november, so sounds like they're on track.

This is a pretty good idea. This also gives everyone plenty of time to be fed up with Nintendo, sell their WiiUs, and not buy the new Smash.

There are still a handful of people that are waiting for smash to buy a wii u. Once the wii u is in their hands, they'll buy existing and future titles. The sooner it's out, the sooner they'll buy the other games.

Releasing smash sooner than later also keeps people from selling their systems. If they have to wait til 2015, they'll just go ahead and sell it, and might not even re-buy it for smash.

I usually use Nintendolife. They've been pretty good for me the last few directs.

I really hope they return to the 3 years cicle. Skyward Sword release felt like an eternity and I think a lot of people could understand SSB delay (if it happens) with a new Zelda being released.
