PvP is so frustrating especially since every once in a while I get a relatively lag-free match and see how good it could be. My experience so far is pretty much swing, hit (weapon connects, hit sound effect), 0.2 - 0.5 secs later the enemy rolls and no damage dealt. How am I supposed to know when to swing when the enemy can start rolling after I've hit him on my screen? Same bull with getting hit myself. I see the swing coming miles away, am clearly out of range and still get hit. Compensating for something like that is not the kind of meta I'm looking for.

I didn't do a whole lot of PvP in DeS and DS1 because it was so terrible every time I tried it. I've actually had much more success with DS2 so far. I've already been invaded and done more invasions than I did in all of my combined time in the previous 2 games.

I get some shitty, laggy matches too, but I also get quite a few smooth ones where we actually battle it out legitimately. My favorite lately is the idiots who try to use that chameleon spell and move around as a giant vase with the auto-aim magic ready to shoot at me. They never win. Never.

Lol, I got one the other day in The shaded woods that was a plant. I was laughing so hard watching this plant come at me.

Yikes NG+ is no joke.

All was going fine, first thing - I jumped down the Pit, took out RRA in one, jumped down sniped the exploding fuckers, and was met by two red phantoms, took 3 tries to take them out, first the sword user, died to the cleric. Then got a double KO with the cleric, so I don't know if she/he dropped anything decent.

Did the Gutter fine until I got up towards the big bug, just before that I was slashed to pieces by just a common knife weilding hollow - his first slash took off 80% of my HP! Okay then! Now in the Black Gulch wondering if that boss should be my second.

Oh and I lost 80k from a failed jump trying to get the stupid crystal lizard after the drop from the Rat covenant. :|

Subject: Dear Chosen Undead,

Dear Chosen Undead,

Umbasa!

Permit me to inform you of my desire of going into business relationship with you. I got your contact from the Firekeeper in Majula. I prayed over it and selected your name among other names due to it's esteeming nature and the recommendations given to me as a reputable and trust worthy undead I can do business with and by the recommendations I must not hesitate to confide in you for this simple and sincere business.

I am Cromwell The Pardoner; the only Great Great Great Great (etc.) Grandson of the late Oswald of Carim. My father was a very important Pardoner. Using a time and space warping White Soapstone, he secretly called me to Lordran and told me that he has a sum of 12,500,000 Souls (Twelve Million, five hundred thousand Souls) left on the corpse of a hollow. However, it is guarded by a very vicious bunch of Undead Pigs who are demanding that I pay 125,000 Souls to advance. Why can the Pigs talk andfor what they would need Souls, I do not know; but this is the situation I find myself in.

Sir, we are honourably seeking your assistance in the following ways.

1) To provide a 125,000 to pay of the greedy Pigs.

2) To serve as the guardian of the 125,000,000 souls since I have a crippling gambling addiction.

Moreover Sir, I am willing to offer you 15% of the sum as compensation for effort input after the successful acquisition of this fund. Please feel free to contact me via the email address:

cromwellthepardoner@ubinscammed.com

Anticipating to hear from you soon.
Thanks and Praise the Sun!
Best regards
Cromwell The Pardoner

LOL This is amazing.

Well, looks like I've done all I wanted to do.

Now I'm just debating whether or not I care enough to double dip for PC. Only reason I'd do that is to play around with some friends and stuff.

I don't know where to go next.

What all have you done so far?

It's definitely better than in previous titles. That's really not saying much though :D

Killed
Pharros bosses, killed Rat covenant boss, killed Iron Keep bosses, Black Gulch boss, spider boss

Sounds like you need to go to
Lost Bastille. You can either go to the area past where Dragonrider was in Heide's Tower, or you can go sit in the bird's nest past where the Pursuer in Forest of Giants was.

I've completed that area

So you've gotten all 4 greater souls? If so, then you need to go to the second bonfire in
Shaded Woods (the one that's a four way intersection before the misty area with invisible monsters) and take the left path. At the end of that path should be the Shrine of Winter, which opens when you either have all 4 greater souls or 1 million soul memory.

Can I carry more than 10 Estus Flask ? because I had 8 and found 3 shard but when I went to majula I only get 10 Estus Flask and now I dont have any shard :|

Does anyone happen to know why the official strategy guide seems to be discounted? It's a hardcover book, packed with information and relatively great quality. What is it that caused the book to go on sale for like $23 from an original price of $36?

I've used the book, and it's really quite good.

So, is Flame Swathe any good now?

Now? It was always good. I got a ton of 1 hit kills in Bellfry Luna with it. It's not nearly as easy to use in open areas in PVP. It's very good for bosses.

I preordered it for like $23 on Amazon. It's only a little cheaper than that now. I'm not sure what the price was in between, but it's not unusual for Amazon to always sell something under MSRP

Dat Nerf...

Can I go back and fight A.D. after I beat the final boss? He doesn't disappear or anything I assume...

You can still do anything you haven't done, as long as you don't choose to go onto the next cycle.

Edit:

Is it just me or is the Platinum trophy in this game much easier than the past two games? All I have left to do is start NG++ and get back to Drangleic to buh a couple pyromancies and miracles and I'm done. The first two felt a lot longer. Or maybe I'm misremembering things.

Honestly, I don't think it's all that different. I think the platinum for all three games are pretty easy. I got the Dark Souls 1 platinum in under a week, and the Demon's Souls platinum wasn't difficult so much as it was tedious, since some of the pure stones had stupid drop rates.

I think so too. For some reason, i never really bothered that much with Dark Souls 1 after i beat it because i thought some of the trophies looked too time consuming. In Dark Souls 2, no trophy require any particular random item drop grinding, so its much easier in that regards at least. I dont remember if Dark Souls 1 had any random drop gridning trophies, but i remember for sure that Demon's Souls had it (damn that Pure Bladestone hehe, took me several of hours of grinding to get it) =)

You had random grinding stuff in Demon's and Dark 1 (Channeler trident and other unique weapons were needed for a trophy in Dark 1), while Dark 2 does not require grinding except for say, Sunbro/Bell covenant, for which it still is a set number of times rather than a random low drop rate on an enemy.

hey zewone, nice avatar

I beat the game. I think my favorite boss was Freja. There aren't enough big, ginantic bosses in this game. I'll never forget searching for ten minutes for a bonfire before Freja, and never finding one.

Hardest boss was Ruin Sentinels, and Rat Vanguard (underleveled)

Messing around in Dark Souls 1 PC I'm trying to see how I would like the analog stick clicking for jumping and it seems like it would be kinda weird but i can see it's usefulness. Did you guys switch back to the old way or adapt to the new one?

I agree. The first two were never "hard" platinums as much as they were just tedious.

I switched back to the controls I'm used to.

What SL level should be aiming for in NG+ onwards for maximum online play (co-op and PvP).

I just did the Rotten at SL125 and I took in the two NPCs because there were no other summon signs. I got summoned myself in Undead Crypt at the same level before I went to NG+ and the host was definately in NG+, so am I too high, too low?

Well beat it last night but wanted to take some time to think about how I felt about the game. I think the game is great and it still has the same effect DeS and DS1 did where I constantly think about playing it. Already started duel cuestus charcter before beating it.

I do think that its the weakest of the 3 games though. There are so many average to kinda bad areas in the beginning that its hard for me to look past that when I don't recall DeS or DS1 having that many areas that were just boring or badly designed. I tin maybe the open world nature may have hurt it in the end for me. It felt like you were aimlessly wondering into these areas instead of it being the next logical step in progression. I preferred finding shortcuts instead of a bonfire. I also preferred how you could see most of the game world in DS1 instead of just warping into individual areas.

The other thing I didn't like was the boss designs. Most bosses early could be defeated with the circle strafe strategy. The later bosses required more from the player but they either had some wierd gimmick
like Smelter Demon
but they weren't interesting mechanically. Just founed most of the fights to be disappointing. Even the final boss was "meh" to me.

Some of the later areas might be someof the best areas in any souls game, but dat diffuculty spike, especially
Shrine of Armana and Dragon Shrine. I honestly have no idea how anyone is supposed to get through that area w/o some sort of range and the way the knights have seemingly unlimited stamina bto spam power attacks, jump attacks, guard breaks and never get staggered is kind of ridiculous
but their armor is looks pretty awesome. Now I haven't fought the dragon yet but I have no interest in fighting those dudes again just to fight the dragon. I might try running through but that seems like a bad idea considering wierd hit boxes in this game.

Final thing I didn't like was just technically it runs worse than Demons and DS1. Menus take forever to load, load times in general are bad, audio cuts out constantly and I don't hear the animations. It just runs terribly.I would hate to see what this game ran like with the old lighting system they had. We probably would get ten fps with minute long load times.

I know it sounds like I'm complaining a lot but I liked alot of the changes. I liked the health limit, I liked having to find estus shards, combat is still excellent. There were just I few things that annoyed me while I played.

TL;DR = game is great but not as good as Demons or DS1 imo.

Originally switched back to Circle, but after finding a jump that was almost impossible without L3 jumping (you can jump further), I have gotten used to it.

Jumping is such a rare occurrence anyways.

Squirtle Squad da best, man.

150 is the meta for PvP, but keep in mind that Soul Memory is still a factor.

huh? it's the best

It's getting nerfed in the balance batch. I haven't played since last weekend, so I'm not sure how bad.

just finished Dark Souls 2

i liked it, to me it felt more like King's Field than Dark Souls in some regards

in some ways, this was a much easier game, in other ways, much more difficult and sometimes a bit tedious (at the end, i REALLY had to push myself to kill all the bosses)

feels like a 7/10-8/10, while previous ones more 9/10

cool thing :
when you defeat Nashandra, you have the choice to grind away or do something else on NG or go to NG+, maybe i'll try Vendrick/Ancient Dragon tomorrow

Have you forgotten blightown?
Also 360 version has none of these problems. PS3 players got shafted again.

So I progressed in the sunbro covenant, I think I just reached rank 2, yet I didn't get anything. Aren't you supposed to get a reward for each rank ?

I had all these problems disappear after selling my physical copy and buying digital.

Yep.

Oh, I was a day one new style jumper. Clicking in the analog stick is wayyyy more reliable for me. Its one of my favorite little improvements, like the disappearing HUD.

I am around the same level, and get summoned constantly. I don't even need to drop my sign at a bonfire; it can be almost anywhere in the level and I will get summoned within 30 seconds. I have also been subject to several red phantom and blue phantom invasions while in other worlds.

Yet when I don't have my sign down, I rarely see summon signs from anyone else. So I think there are plenty of players in that range, just a shortage of people who are using their white soapstones.
