Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

It's set during a time and world where there were more unnatural and demonic forces to deal with. I get what your saying but it would have been nice to have a little more then just humanoid sword wielding enemies. Felt like their were too many.

7 out of 30 Bosses is "too many"?

Both these work great. Drop down from the bridge to the charior boss with the cat's ring. That's the item we're talking about right? :3

Heh I was determined to get that item before I knew you could just drop down to it later on. Dat Dark Souls perserverance kept me at it. Good tip on the mid-air attack though. Never knew that.

As an aside, has anyone tried to use the Chariot Executioner's Lance? Its fun to impale lower level enemies but wondered if its worth upgrading. Seems like it would be too much recovery to be feasible but maybe damage output would mitigate that. I'm a Strength build btw.

Me too, died a bunch of times before giving up.

Chariot Lance is a really cool weapon and great in PvE for most part. Great stunlock and heavy hits.

I am disappointed in the Amana nerf. Part of the Souls experience is adapting to areas that challenge your basic loadout and preferred method of attack. You put on poison-resistant gear for Blighttown; you carry a divine weapon for the Catacombs; and you tread carefully in the Royal Woods lest you aggro a dozen enemies at once. No question that the Amana mages' magic had surprising range and homing abilities, but what's fun about these games is plotting your way around an obstacle.* In this case, bring a magic-resistant shield (which you can easily find or build yourself with MacDuff's help) and the area becomes perfectly manageable.

*Would DS's mindflayers be as memorable if they weren't unusually dangerous when you can first access Latria?

Well, we were speaking of "armored knights" a second ago. I mean, humanoid, of course there's more.

But this isn't Monster Hunter. :P
Yea I just meant knights in general "Armored" knights are pretty few and far I guess.
Almost wish they would have more interesting looking bosses like a Monster Hunter at this point lol.

Oh damn, just looking at the patch log now (http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/..._103_calibration_104_announced_for_april_8th/). Nerfs everywhere!
Don't make Lost Sinner easier :(

most hype fight of the game bout to get nerfed

I believe Dragon Chime is the best end game one for lightning. You want to infuse a chime with lightning if you're doing lightning, or dark if you're doing hexes

Okay that's what I thought. Is that the one you get from completing the abyss covenant?

how do i hex? i guess 30/30 int/fai?

do i need a staff and a chime?_? is the crypt sword worth it (i would only 2 hand it)?

30/30 is the way to go. I use a chime only though I used a staff for earlier hexes.

Crypt sword is sadly a bit underwhelming. Too heavy, too slow, short range, limited moveset. I started using velstadts chime hammer instead which has even better AR and a fun moveset. Infuse with dark and buff with great resonant weapon for insane damage.

thanks for your opinion on the crypt sword. i guess i go for a dark infused claymore then (imo still the godtier weapon of DS1 and DS2 because of the moveset).

Why didn't they put the Gravelord Sword in that place? -_-

Would have been so much better. I definitely didn't need another big, slow Ultra Greatsword.

Claymore is amazing in DkS1 but I'm not sure I'm liking the update. Haven't used it that much but something feels off with greatswords imho.

I though the crypt was after the castle. What is the place in the Shaded woods that the kings keys unlocks?

Maybe optional was a bad word, I though I should wait till I have all the giant souls.

You're thinking of Aldias Keep. And I don't think that is optional too. You need to go to the very end of that to get an item from
Ancient Dragon
. Which allows you to face off against
Giant Lord
in one of the memories, which allows you to get a
key
that enables you to face the end boss.

Now facing off against A.D. is optional. And the Giant Souls is optional for another optional boss that is actually inside the Crypt, but like said, that boss is optional.

You still have to kill a boss before the king to get the giant's souls. You can always go back later

I agree. Big, heavy weapons seem to be lacking some oomph.

I think maybe they sped up the animations to make them easier to use, but the change makes them feel kinda floaty. Hitting enemies with big weapons doesn't feel as meaty as it did in DkS1.

Didn't realise Infusing decreases a weapon's scaling. Fuck that then.

You know what though, certain weapon no matter what scale E or not at all when fully upgraded. Those are the ones that benefit from it the most. I took the Butcher Knife which scaled at E fully upgraded and added lightning which gave it a B scaling in that.

My friend and I are tearing through NG+ together. It's a blast.

He tanks will full havels and I throw sunlight spears and climax.

Climax is ridiculous. Super fast cast and hits for 1800+

Have yet to run a caster yet, but do chimes/catalysts scale weapon buffs? Or is it just a flat increase?

I wonder how long till they nerf the
Giant Lord
soul farming from NG+++++++++. The fact that that small area not only gives you almost 500k souls each time (Silver ring +2 & Jester's Gloves), but also another Bonfire Ascetic at the beginning. Allowing you to repeat the process in under 5 minutes each time. Boss one shots you if you get hit, but if you are a caster, you can stay far away and defeat him easily.

I have to imagine they will at least take out the Bonfire Ascetic in the area to make it not as easy for you.

You can always infuse a weapon that has weak or no scaling.

It splits the damage with the element too.

You know what's interesting? I infused the Malformed Skull, which has no scaling. Infusing it with an element not only adds the elemental damage, but also increased the physical damage. So it was objectively better than non-infused. Of course, the increase in physical damage was less than doing Raw infusion, but if you just want high physical damage you are better off going with something like the Large Club instead.

Would you suggest the keep before the crypt then?

Think how garbage some of those bosses were.
Taurus Demon is great in the moment, but then you fight him as a regular enemy later in a boring level, ditto for Capra Demon

Ceaseless discharge, Flame Centipede, and Bed of chaos were all gimmick fights with terrible hitboxes and randomess thrown in

Flame centipede was a great fight; there is no randomness if you keep track of where each limb is, and you could cut some of them.

I agree that any list that tries to promote the superiority of DS1 and includes Bed of Chaos should be ignored outright.

I just helped someone clear Shrine of Mana...

...as an invader :lol

I was blocking the mobs from hitting him and rolling in front of them to slow them down

I did invade him once before that and we dueled fairly so I figured I might as well help him now :p

Brotherhood of Blood pls understand

Doesn't absolve the fight's blatant camera issues though.

To this day I have no idea what the centipede demon actually looks like. It's a dark mass of spindly legs that messes around overhead while the camera spazzes out,

Yeah I'm SL28 and this is my first run. Only what I assume to be the last area remains.
I already beat Demon's and Dark Souls at base SL multiple times so I'm used to that but the fact of being invaded by players who are way higher level than you and you can't be summoned/summon help sucks.

Wait... can players with SL that high invade you with SL28? Seriously? Why they cap co-op but leave invasions like this?

I thought invasions worked the same way as summoning.
