Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Fire Breath might have special properties and just do raw damage but doesn't cause any kind of stagger. I wonder if they changed Marth's counter to just physical melee attacks.

Maybe Bowser's firebreath has windboxes now? Hence why Marth would be sliding/pushed during the invincibility of the counter.

It would be really weird if Marth couldn't counter Bowser's firebreath anymore. It would be even stranger if it applied to all projectiles.

It's either a customized move or there are two changes here.

Bowser's firebreath no longer has knockback like beta_fuse says and Marth's counter now only counters moves with knockback.

I'll look for a clip that shows Bowser's firebreath in action at another time.

It looks to me like Bowser's fire breath no longer causes flinching as well as having windboxes because as soon as Mario gets in range, purple damage effects start appearing on him just like Marth, but as far as Marth is concerned, it seems unlikely that it couldn't be used against projectiles, so maybe it is indeed chargeable. Otherwise why would he stay in the counter stance for so long? We could be looking at two customized moves, also. Chargeable counters and Windbox Flamebreath w/ no flinch effect. Hard to say at this juncture.

Wreck-It Ralph Pacman I think everybody would be happy with Hahah

I want PacMan to get a projectile like Zelda, that's his power pill that gives the one he hits lower defenses stats and slows them down, like a more free ness bolt.

Am I wrong in thinking the 3DS version coming first is actually a brilliant move? A brilliant move that will get people to double dip. I feel like a Wii U price drop or Smash Bundle will come into play this Winter. I think that the Wii U game is for the most part finished, but I won't complain about them having more time tweaking, fixing, or even adding a few things.

The Smash Bundle is reaching a bit, since they've never paired the game with one of their previous consoles.

Smash bundle? more like Mario Kart 8 bundle

They've made two now I think, the other was for Greninja

I meant more that it was specifically a smash direct analysis since the other analysis only analyzed footage from the greninja trailer and that this analysis is the first part of the analyses they are doing on the smash direct and the set of pictures that followed the direct

All other players turn blue and get one hit KO'ed if Pac Man touches them?

yep this is the only acceptable final smash in my mind

edit: if it's too OP then make it last just a few seconds. difficult to KO more than one opponent unless they're clustered. The Smash Ball already looks like a power pellet for chrissake!

I'm with you.

Sonic already kinda does that, lol. They could limit the time so it isn't as OP.

Yeah, except in Sonic's smash he turns blue, in Pac Man's the other characters would turn blue :P Seriously though, they'd have to make it hard to control (like Sonic...) or have a very short time limit, or maybe it's just damage, not a one hit KO.

That's actually... super great. Just, he couldn't have any moves in this form, right?

I'm OK with the toothless one everyone's been posting from that Mario Kart Arcade game.

What if his final smash turns him into the original pac-man and he can move around the entire screen while the players try to run away. Would be awesome.

In their last analisis, gamexplain points out that you should be able to play on the final destination form of stages outside of "for glory" mode because when rosalina uses his final smash she and the other characters playing are on the final destination form of the Mario galaxy stage. I didnt think about that myself...

I actually think this is the ideal way to do it too. I always expected Smash to be their big holiday game for Wii U, but releasing both simultaneously isn't a smart business move. Launching the 3DS version in the summer after Kirby and Mario Golf is a brilliant move. There will be almost no competition in that time.

Plus, I've already heard people say they now plan to pick up the 3DS version as well, which wasn't the case before.

The best part about Pac-Man being a character is that we might get the ghosts as enemies in Rush Mode.

That's something I didn't understand when Sakurai shown off Smash Run. We got the see Metool from Mega Man, but no Sonic enemy? There's probably one in there though. I hope it's Motobug or something and not an Egg Pawn.

He looks fine here! I'd be content with this design.

There are much better reps for the Rhythm Tengoku games than the chorus men. Karate Joe being one of the most obvious ones.

Ahh I gotcha; makes sense!

Yeah that is pretty cool. I love how the Mario Galaxy FD looks

Eh, Karate Joe seems a little on the nose. I want a character that really embodies musicality in their moves.
I don't see why they can't give him a rhythm based move set. Seeing as most of the characters in the games have one move they'd have to come up with original actions anyway.

Karate joe would be so boring though
How many characters in Smash can summon flying buckets?

Marshal would be a better RH rep I think (or as the leak states, "Chorus Men"). I would love love love to see how that worked.
I agree with that suggestion (posted it myself the other day) as he is technically an update of the night walker who has made appearances outside of Rhythm Tengoku with the DSi Sound visualiser for example.

I used to not want Pac Man in this. But after seeing how Sakurai handled Little Mac, I'm down for it.

There aren't any characters I owuld mind being in so long as the roster overall is solid and diverse. the confirmed roster so far is really interesting to me, so pac man's inclusion would be fine

I always wanted Pac-Man to be in the game (well, not always, but since the day the rumor about Pac-Man, Little Mac, etc was spread), but then someone had to remind be Digimon is a Bandai franchise and now I want Agumon in the game instead. Come on, it would be a big opportunity to revive the franchise ;_; Plus, Pikachu and Agumon in one game... Maaan ;_; Still, Pac-Man is better than having a Tekken orf Tales of character in Smash. Much better. Really.

I totally agreed with you there for Ridley. Sakurai kept trolling the fans with Ridley, and he kept dragging it for long time ever since they announced the Pyrosphere. I know he's not malicious Developer that like to troll people to spite them. I'm pretty sure that Sakurai is up to something that we don't know.

There are many things that could point that Ridley could be playable character, after the direct, I somehow felt confident that he could be playable character in the game so I already avatar bet with someone that Ridley is playable character. GO ME! :P

Sorry, I don't give a single damn about that. :P

I think everyone already understands my stance on playable Ridley but I'd just like add that ever since that Nintendo Power interview and knowing Sakurai's penchant for developing an idea, then eventually seeing it to it's conclusion by implementing it into a game, I've been entertaining the thought that he would/could view adding Ridley effectively and accurately doing the character justice would be a worthy challenge he would want to undertake, especially considering how he feels about uniqueness in his characters. Another thing that I find interesting is how Sakurai seems to be removing gliding and flying recoveries from the game so far. Maybe it will specifically be Ridely's gimmick? Since he would obviously need to be able to fly and glide for mobility.

Exactly. If Rhythm Heaven gets a rep (and it should my goodness yes please forever) it should be someone more visually and conceptually interesting. Marshal would work nicely, as would the Barista or just Rhythm Monkey.

It would be really lame for the rep of a series as quirky and ridiculous as Rhythm Heaven to be a generic karate dude.

Watching the Gamexplain video. They point out that the Mii changes between clips, but here's some more thoughts. Both Miis are dressed as the Prince from Find Mii. That stage was where the King was kept, but no sign of either the King or Princess is present. In a previous screenshot of the stage the cage was empty.

Does it cycle through them? Is the King the playable Mii?

I'd rather have a WarioWare rep than one from Rhythm Heaven. The WW characters are way more memorable.
We already have a WarioWare rep, though. His name is Wario.

No to say that the WW-exclusive characters aren't cool, but the more different, unique franchises get repped in some form the better.

Pacmans final smash should temporarily switch the level to the classic Pacman arcade level where he would turn into classic Pacman and chase down 8 bit head icons of the characters who are currently being played. It would be like when the ghosts turn blue except each player is controlling their own icon and they can all scramble different ways. This way with a time limit the final smash wouldn't be a broken and easy for Pacman to get KO's on a normal stage.

Hmm, what if the arena actually changed? Like you move stage-to-stage, ala Find Mii? Maybe the King's in a different level then? (though I suppose it is odd that he wouldn't be in this one)

For NeoGAF, it was pretty rare for people to brought up Geno. I would like to see Geno because i still have nostalgia glasses on for Super Mario RPG; however there is a reality check that Geno wouldn't be in the game AT ALL..

Other forums I have seen people brought Geno up occasionally but not that much as Brawl tho. I think people realized that Geno have no chance at all now.

I was all for Geno until I posted here for the first time and you guys destroyed my innocence.

Considering Rosalina was left out the first time around, I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two not on the list.

Who else is there to add though? Greninja pretty much has Takamaru covered.

Ninja =/= samurai. I could see Takamaru's moveset being way different... also: Fox, Falco, Wolf: I doubt Sakurai would keep him out on the basis of a few similarities.

RE: Charizard hate

Personally I think it's the least creative Pokemon in Gen 1 as far as starters go.

But it's well executed. And really, what's a monster catching game if you can't tame a Dragon?

I still think Gen 1 had the best pokemon designs, and I think all three starters were impeccable examples of Pokemon's potential for both cuteness and full on bad-assedness.

A dragon is a little generic as Pokemon designs go though.

Doesn't Greninja use swords as well?

Anyway, what does Marshall do? I only played RHDS
