Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

To make Pac-Man look best in Smash I would think:

-3D, but no shading or very very light shading.
-No teeth
-simpler boots
-classic eyes

So you basically want the previous 3D Pac-Man design. I mean, that's all you had to say. <_<

Edit: This is exactly what you described

Err what? Outside of Mario, there was basically no other series with common enemies. Smash Run looks to be a huge improvement.

If the definition of lots is maybe 3 series, then sure, it is a lot.

I didn't mean lots of series, I meant lots of enemies. Sure they were almost all from Mario, but eh... bosses count then! :P

And there are, what, 720 Pokemon now? Having 6 out of 720 playable characters in Smash isn't that crazy, especially with so much diversity in their appearance and play styles.

I guess by the same argument we should have about a dozen FE reps though, huh?

Is it just me or are you now a member? Or was you already one?

In any case, congrats!

I wish they would diversify the lineup more. There is way too much Pokémon representation. Get some other series in there. There should be like 2 Pokémon.
What's that you say? Replace all the fighters with Pokemon? Sounds awesome!

Blaziken's an easy replacement for Captain Falcon.

Well... my main point was the no shading thing. Previous 3D Pac-Man had shading.

This one looks okay...

I was thinking kind of a Game and Watch thing except not actually 2D. Give him an outline so you can see his arms. Make him look like an animated drawing. They've already go outlines in place for the 3DS version.

OMG I AM. I didn't even notice. How did that happen? Is it just post count? Or is it because I'm that awesome?

And does that mean I can post my own threads now?

With great power...

When you hit 300 posts and survive for 3 months without getting banned, you get full member status. Congrats, though :)

Considering that Mega Man is his classic design because Sakurai specifically said it was a priority because "I'm not going to have just any character from other companies", if Pac-Man is in the game it will be the classic design.

Thanks for posting that, I forgot about BitF.

"Less exciting to me is splitting up the Pokemon Trainer team. Ivysaur was by far my favorite Pokemon to use in any Smash game, and I worry he may have gotten the axe (since Charizard has always been the fame-hog of the three, let’s be honest). There’s only room enough in my heart for one fire-breathing dragon anyway…"

Seems like the author is a Ridley fan.
I know he's talking about Bowser, shut up.

Mario is Nintendo's biggest franchise. It has 6 representatives so far, and their will likely be more. Zelda is Nintendo's third biggest franchise. It has 4 characters now, and a newcomer and Ganondorf is likely.

Pokemon is Nintendo's second biggest franchise. It shouldn't be a surprise that there are 4 representatives so far, with Jigglypuff being likely and Mewtwo being possible.

I'm pretty confident that if Pac-Man's in the game (which he probably is), then this is the design we'll see.

Considering Mega Man is almost a pixel perfect re-imagining of his NES character design, I'm hoping Sakurai gives the same respect to the Pac Man character and doesn't just use the most "modern" design.

While I'd prefer the design I quoted above, I'd be okay with the X Tekken design:

Better than that horrendous design above with the teeth... but those eyes are just the worst.

If Pac-Man is in, his neutral B can be the chomp, forward b can be an open mouth dive like Hakan. Down b he loses his limbs and does his deathspin roll ala Jiggly. Up b would be an upward gulp.

I'm expecting that and maybe more World moves for Smashes, like the bounce.

My perfect and ideal Pacman would be the "Pacman Party" Pacman

I hate the teeth on the newest one. I don't like the fingers on him either. :(

And I guess they added a "bite" noise in the TV show when he chomps. Its terrible.

Classic arcade sounds for the love of god, please!

So hasn't Mega Man's design remained unchanged since pretty much the first game? I could be wrong - I remember 7 and 8 had updated designs for 32 bit, but then 9 and 10 had awesome accurate retro designs. What are people referring to when they talk about an udpated version of Mega Man?...

That design was good.

Pac-man's charm was that he was simple, adding teeth and fingers just makes him mildly creepy.

The issue that I see with Pacman is mainly that adding him seems pointless for player appeal. Is anyone really going to see Pacman as a big selling point for Smash? Unless Namco is basically adding him for "free", it just seems odd to license a third party character like that.

I feel like the design from 9 and 10, in official art, still showed some traces of the 7/8/Bass Megaman, even if it was shorter.

Smash's redesign adds details that weren't in any of the previous official designs, but it actually seems to attempt to go after the look of the in game sprite rather than the previous official artwork.

I assume they're talking about the one that appears in other fighting games such as the Marvel vs Capcom series.

Am I wrong in thinking the 3DS version coming first is actually a brilliant move? A brilliant move that will get people to double dip. I feel like a Wii U price drop or Smash Bundle will come into play this Winter. I think that the Wii U game is for the most part finished, but I won't complain about them having more time tweaking, fixing, or even adding a few things.

The Smash Bundle is reaching a bit, since they've never paired the game with one of their previous consoles.
