Fire Breath might have special properties and just do raw damage but doesn't cause any kind of stagger. I wonder if they changed Marth's counter to just physical melee attacks.
Maybe Bowser's firebreath has windboxes now? Hence why Marth would be sliding/pushed during the invincibility of the counter.
It would be really weird if Marth couldn't counter Bowser's firebreath anymore. It would be even stranger if it applied to all projectiles.
It's either a customized move or there are two changes here.
Bowser's firebreath no longer has knockback like beta_fuse says and Marth's counter now only counters moves with knockback.
I'll look for a clip that shows Bowser's firebreath in action at another time.
It looks to me like Bowser's fire breath no longer causes flinching as well as having windboxes because as soon as Mario gets in range, purple damage effects start appearing on him just like Marth, but as far as Marth is concerned, it seems unlikely that it couldn't be used against projectiles, so maybe it is indeed chargeable. Otherwise why would he stay in the counter stance for so long? We could be looking at two customized moves, also. Chargeable counters and Windbox Flamebreath w/ no flinch effect. Hard to say at this juncture.
