Nintendo Downloads - April 2014

How is the brightness on GBA VC? I'd love to hear how it looks compared to the 3DS ambassador versions.
A lot better :

I don't suppose there's ever been any talk about releasing Kwirk or any of its sequels on the VC has there? For some reason I was humming the music in the shower today and realized how much I'd love for that to happen.

man, i'm really enjoying advance wars for the first time, though it makes me wish that sega started releasing genesis games again so i can get langrisser/warsong..

anyway, what other gba games are worth getting? i never had a gba and i'll definitely get golden sun, but besides that..?

Based solely on GBA games that have confirmed release dates and are already out, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is one I definitely recommend if you like RPGs and Yoshi's Island if you enjoy platformers. Metroid Fusion is great if you enjoy Metroid games, and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is great if you enjoy racing games.

Not that I know of. I'm also not sure if Atlus owns the IP, so who knows if it will ever arrive.

I don't know if you already talked about this, but I'm experiencing a terrible bug on the 3DS version of Pure Chess; basically the game freeze every time you put the handheld in sleep mode for more than a couple of minutes, of course, meanwhile Pure Chess is on.
does anyone else on gaf have the same issue? is there a solution, an incoming patch?

Finally got around to play Attack of the Friday Monsters. A damn fine game, highly recommended! Like a little Ghibli film

Nintendo Pocket Football Club, Golden Sun, F-Zero, Castlevania 3 and two high-profile demos make for a pretty solid exciting week. :)

Nintendo Pocket Football Club and EO:TMG Demo for me. Tempted to get Mario Golf WT from the eShop now as well.

Etrian Odyssey™ Untold: The Millennium Girl Demo
I wonder if NISA learned from last time. As in will it this be 3 uses? Then again IIRC this one is a story mode demo and was not very much of the dungeon at that so 3 uses is probably enough,

I've still not played the EOIV demo because of 3 uses...of course I've left it so late now I believe the eShop is the only place with stock left of that game now...speaking of which.

EOIV going on sale in Europe? Not likely. Somebody already asked NISA Europe about this. This is what they had to say on their Facebook page:
NIS America said:
Sadly EOIV isn't one of NISA's titles =[
Basically the publisher does not think it their title. Great. I'm sure if I contact Atlus USA asking for a sale they likewise will wipe their hands as it is not their title in Europe (or just ignore me...).

Atlus USA, please publish your games in Europe rather these clowns...okay maybe I should have seen how Conception 2 digital only goes down first and if that gets the same sale treatment that Atlusa USA give the US eShop...before saying that.

That's actually a pretty decent week.... though by no means fantastic either. Very good news for the Mario Golf demo + free Mario Golf VC. It's something they should do with pretty much all their games. I could totally see them gifting Kirby's Adventure 3D Classics if you buy Triple Deluxe on the eShop.

Cool to see Nintendo doing more and more of those "steam-like" bonuses.

Im happy that you are all enjoying this week. But to me an "exciting week" would mean great releases + price dorps to all vc games.

Also, this "buy mario golf, gets old mario golf" its fine and all, but that means too much mario golf. Just like the "buy mariokart8, get super mario kart for free". Even if i want this deal to come to canada, its too much mario kart. It would been nicer if it was get new game, CHOOSE a vc game for free

I agree...
Let's say that this is what I'd consider a good average week. Instead it's seen as a good one, because too often we get weaker weeks.

You are getting a title for free and are still complaining. Hmm...

You are getting a title for free and are still complaining. Hmm...

Well, (I know you wuoted hime and not me, but I agreed with him so...):
actually, I agree with the weak incentive that (to me) represent the fact to have the old version of a game, if I buy the new one. Instead, being eventually allowed to buy another VC game (for the same "discount") would be a bigger and stronger incentive to me.
Plus, I agree with him that we are not seeing great brand new releases this week, so I cannot consider this week as a very good one.
And I really think that demos should be released at a more constant pace.

So, I'm not complaining about this week, but I disagree with people considering this week as a very interesting one.

I'd like to see Nintendo considering this week (nice VC incentive, ok; demo releases, ok; low profile new games) as an average week for their eshop. Not an "interesting" one.

Nintendo Pocket Football Club and Mario Golf demo for me. I have no interest in the GBC title so I will still buy Mario Golf at retail.

Nintendo releasing a demo for a first-party IP? What's going on here?
Nintendogs is more first party than Mario Golf (Camelot) if that is what you are trying to say.

That is not how this one works. You buy Super Mario Kart (SMK) and get a discount on 8 equal to the cost of SMK. In other words you've had some SMK to get into the mood for MK8.

That is somewhat different from buying Mario Golf and being given another Mario Golf game at the same time.

I'd like to see more "$x discount on y if you own VC game" only with y being a future release this time so not like the buy Dr. Mario, get Dr. Luigi for $10 rather than $15 (if you own Dr. Luigi...sorry you're not in Europe they did this by giving Dr. Mario for free to Dr. Luigi owners for a limited time)

Good week for me. Getting Pocket Football Club Day 1, maybe F-Zero, and I really want to play both demos, EO and Mario Golf.

Nice, Mario Golf demo. It will actually be my first Mario Golf experience, I'm not very much into golf but who knows. Hopefully this time we'll get more than 10 uses.

I'm actually tempted to get Power of Illusion despite the harsh critics it received. However I'm pretty sure I can get the physical version for not more than 15€ and I'm not sure if this is the kind of game I'll want to always carry with me considering the little replay value it seems to have.

GOLDEN SUN!

Event week for me! Target's got a sale on point cards this week as well. Thinking about getting a $50 card for 45 bucks, so I might download some other games too. But Golden Sun has all my attention until I finish it... at least once. Maybe twice! I'm ready to wear Isaac's MC avatar and begin the hot chase across the lands of Angara and Gondowan all over again!

I wish Lost Age didn't change the MC and the perspective. Other than not feeling the new MC,
Lost Age felt like one huge detour for over half the game and it hardly felt like Isaac and company were hot on Felix's trail. I also felt like they made Jenna's character more hard-headed compared to the first game. Kraden's dialogue at the end of Book 1/start of Book 2 implied that her feisty behavior at Idejima (?) was unusual. She's always been rather impatient, but all throughout Lost Age she seemed different to me. I don't know. Last time I played the first Golden Sun was the week before Dark Dawn's release, and it has been ages since I played Lost Age.

Sweet, does this mean you could potentially play Mario Golf GBC before it's released? That could be why you can preorder Mario Golf: World Tour on the Nintendo UK Online Store.

I think it's shit that they don't give you the game for free if you order the physical copy...

So Castlevania 3 and the NES Blaster Master are available on the 3DS VC. But not in North America. Is this done kind of cruel joke that NOA is playing on me? These are two of my favorite NES games off all time.

I bought it for $5 a few weeks ago :lol

(Canadia)

I bought a physical copy of the game around Christmas for 15. Will replace it with a digital copy if it ever hits 20 or below...which it seemingly has in most every country besides the US.

I'm expecting Castlevania III on 3DS VC in U.S. shortly. It was only released in Japan a short time ago, so with a quick turnaround release for EU, U.S. shouldn't be far behind. :)

Yay!

So what is that, £18 - £20? I can swing that.
£22.49 if they use the £0.9:€1 that most eShop games do. But these are not absolute laws by any means (Ace Attorney 5 is a good example which is like £20/€25/$AUD40 which does not follow £0.9:€1:$AUD1.3*).

I should really convert my eShop spreadsheet into digital form to better examine this and to have on hand things like the nonsensical NES game pricing (in the UK on the 3DS eShop NES games can be £3.49-£4.49 and I can not discern a pattern).

*-My guess is that if a publisher does not state a price for a currency they use the scaling I outlined above otherwise they use the price the publisher said.
