Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

That's not what I'm implying, I'm implying that the people who refrain from any sort of criticism of the decisions of the game seem to come out of no where and who treat the decision as mana from the Most High. I never once said they were faking, I am legit asking, where they came from, cause I did not see them pre-reveal. But if you want to say I claim you are faking, maybe thats something you need to sort out with yourself.

I'm specifically talking about your wording about people "pretending" stuff. and don't tell me I "Need to sort stuff out with myself", thank you. That's incredibly rude.

They haven't confirm Kat + Ana as assist trophy yet.

Oh, you're right.
Edit: Also I forgot Penny

Well that's not what I was saying or implying. I think it's obvious by now I would be the type to directly say I think the people are faking. I don't think that, I'm of the impression that most of them actually wanted RH represented in some form which is fine by me. But once this rumor hit, instead of thinking of how the character could work, they auto jump to "AMAZING IDEA" it literally doesn't make any sense looking at those types of responses. The character could go any which way, there is no way to tell at this point. And I did not see enough people diligently discussing RH movesets for the amount of people I see saying "AWESOME!" I am legit asking, where these people came from.

Sorry about the offense. I hate people implying that I say something I'm not. I'm usually direct.

I only know about Rhythm Heaven because of this,
thus this would be my character of choice:

I'd also like a female WarioWare representative,
and since Ashley and Kat/Ana are assist trophies, I guess that just leaves Mona:

The art style is simply charming.

Darn you...Now I can't stop watching these videos. It's so...charming. Looks fun too.

Another issue is the character in question contradicts things Sakurai has said about characters in the past (need to have some kind of moveset potential) and he hinted at the issue with Mac (who CAN fight) in the most recent direct.

That's just BS, you know they have moveset potential.

I never ranked too. :o

1. Little Mac
2. Mega Man
3. Greninja
4. Villager
5. Rosalina & Luma
6. Wii Fit Trainers

Rosalina seems kinda complex. You're controlling two characters separately, not like Ice Climbers. I guess it will be easier than it looks but I'm still a bit afraid of it.

This was in the first two games right? Was it a glitch or an intentional feature? I'm assuming the former, but damn if it didn't spice the game up.
I dunno about in Smash 64, but in Melee it was definitely not a glitch. It would double the speed of the landing lag animation, which would be something pretty impossible for the game to do on accident.

It'd definitely be nice to see L Cancelling return. I'm not tremendously fond of it personally, but it would be a nice gesture towards competitive folk.

If Ashley didn't make it, neither will Mona.

Personally I preferred it when they actually had irises, but this style is okay too I guess.

Yeah I don't like implications either and honestly, saying people are "pretending" stuff (especially if you just vaguely imply "people" in this thread) is a really good way to make a lot of people feel that way in one fell swoop. If you don't like it happening to you, it'd be really swell if you thought a bit more about how you worded things. :/

Either way , I think you're looking way too hard into why people are reacting the way they are. People like surprising characters, people like RH. We also know that movesets can be enormously surprisingly in a positive (or negative) way.

I personally don't enjoy making up fake movesets for characters at all, but when I heard about a potential RH character (that's an actual music-based char, not just a kung fu guy or something) I got excited over the idea cause it sounds like it could be a surprising & unique addition to Smash.

As other people have said, marshall/the choir guys do visually que people into thinking "Oh those are RH guys!" so they do their part fine as a makeshift mascot. (same with Wii Fit Trainer immediately being recogniseable as "wii fit girl")

I don't see how tons of people being totally okay with this idea somehow makes any of us "pretend" they're the most desired thing ever or that Nintendo is a god that's without fault. It's incredibly rude to just take a (seemingly popular) opinion and outright go and say broad things like that.

It's pretty obvious you outright hate "choir men" as an idea, guess what? Tons of people don't. And they don't have to think Nintendo is flawless to think that.

It "literally doesn't make any sense?" What, that people like the idea of a certain character, or that a franchise they enjoy is being represented? I don't understand what you're complaining about here. Do we have to know every single detail before we can say something is a good idea?

I mean..it's an idea, we're not saying "BEAUTIFULLY EXECUTED!" People are saying "that's a cool idea." I would have never considered including that character, so that's where I sit. I'm not sure what you're annoyed with, nobody's stopping you from discussing the move set if you want to get in depth. I'd welcome it.

R0ckman is just throwing strawmen at the thread I think. It's very easy to make people's opinions sound dumb and extreme if you don't specify who supposedly said it.

Yep, pretty much. It's strange that the entirety of the WarioWare cast is just ignored and either Assist Trophy'd, or just not in the game at all. I guess we'll just have to wait until Smash 5 before we finally see a Wario franchise newcomer. And we all know who that's gonna be.
;)

Guess I'll do the ranking thing.

1. Villager
2. Greninja
3. Little Mac
4. Wii Fit Trainer
5. Rosalina
6. Mega Man

Villager seems to have the most interesting moveset; the item collecting is what I'm most interested in. Grabbing a Phantom looks amazing, and so does planting trees, and dropping a bowling bomb straight down on opponents.

Mega Man honestly looks boring. I didn't really grow with or play any of his games, and the moves he brings to the table don't seem all that interesting. That Final Smash was cool though.

Here's my ranking:

1. Wii Fit Trainer
2. Greninja
3. Little Mac
4. Mega Man
5. Villager
6. Rosalina & Luma

I love what we've seen for the Wii Fit Trainers. Beating up your opponents with the power of exercise is really funny, and the details shared during the Smash Direct got me even more excited. I like all of the newcomers though.

Part of me is really excited about playing as Little Mac - I love Punch-Out!! and he looks like a lot of fun, plus he's fast which is always a very good thing.

Then I remember that I'm practically always jumping everywhere in Smash Bros. and realize I probably won't main Mac anytime soon, haha.

I hear you. It's gonna require some self-discipline to keep myself from jumping when I play as Little Mac! His fighting mechanics are really interesting and I like the Punch-Out!! series, so I'll probably play as him often.

Also, I have a question for you guys. What songs would you like in Smash 4 as arrangements or kept intact from their original game? Reading C.Olimar's post regarding Rusty's Real Deal Baseball and thinking about some of the songs from the Nintendo direct got me excited about the soundtrack.

Super Training from Pokemon X & Y sounds perfect for Smash Brothers. It could appear in Lumiose City or a Pokemon stage on the Wii U version. The original version would work just fine, but I'm sure a remix would be cool.

I'd love to hear an arranged version of Oki Doki!! from Bowser's Inside Story. The wacky, scrappy spirit of the song would be a great backdrop for a Smash Bros. fight.

An arrangement of Rock & Roll from MOTHER 3 would be a fun inclusion. I can just imagine this song playing with all kinds of crazy items being thrown around on a stage.

Not that I think we're getting a WarioWare character at this juncture, but what brings you to this conclusion? Mona is more representative of the WarioWare series as a whole, being wacky and erratic herself, and has been in all the games, unlike Ashley. I would definitely say she's a better choice than Ashley.

As implied by the Beat the Beat credits, Marshal is an evolution of the NIght Walker from the first Rhythm Tengoku.

If you had a DSi you'd likely recognise him from the music visualiser.

If Ashley didn't make it, neither will Mona.

Seems like an odd statement.
I think you're basing this on the idea that Ashley has more "moveset potential" because she can cast magic and such?
Because Mona has plenty of things she does in the WarioWare series, as well, she's had a lot of jobs from which she can draw stuff from. I know it's easy to say that WarioWare characters are about equal to each other in terms of importance to the series (aside from Wario obviously), which is true to a lesser extent, but Mona's been in several more games than Ashley has been. Also, it was both Ashley and Mona who got their theme songs in Brawl.

I think out of the potential newcomers for WarioWare, Mona is about as likely, if not more so, than Ashley, though I'd sort both of them behind Jimmy T.

That said, I really doubt we'll get playable WarioWare characters.

Well technically that "kung fu guy" is music based. Almost every character from the games are.

I really hope you can cancel the landing lag ;[

Probably they are not giving you the option, but... what if, in stead, they reduce it a lot!? i mean, what if, when you land (and without presing any button), the lag is like if you L-canceled?? That would be better for people that dont know about L-cancelling than having L-cancelling. It would be like if they already did it...

This has always been my preferred solution, but there's a lot of debate about the effect it has on the skill floor. I don't participate in any FGC talks or competition, but it's a hot topic for whatever reason.

I feel like the game would just be a lot better outright if it wasn't a thing.

Yeah! And instead of manually doing combos, they're performed automatically upon landing a hit!

This is not a solution to the problem. Automating techniques in competitive games just dumbs it down.

the game is made "for everyone". Thats one of the reasons why we still have brawl air dodge in the new smash (i would say). So, thats the only way that i can think of for "having" L-canceling

I was thinking the whole 2 tracks per 3DS stage was limiting.

Until you realise there'll likely be about 30-40 stages making for around 70-90 total tracks. (Menu etc. included)

Still a healthy amount!

I've not played my copy of RHF yet, but I hope (if the rumours are true that is) that Marshal makes an appearance in the game somehow. The only difference between him and the Chorus Men is the bowtie and that he has fingers, which means he might not look as silly if he were to be playable. I have no idea how he'd play if he were to be a rhythm based fighter, but that could be cool.

Also I really wanted Kat and Ana as a tag team after Brawl's release, and it's true, we haven't seen them yet. I doubt they'll make an appearance, but I love the artstyle that's shared between the two games.

Have we got a list of unconfirmed Assist Trophies?

I agree that its not how it "should" be, but, when thinking about it, i think that the game would be better "having" L-canceling (that way) that not having it. I dont know... sorry. I just want something that is not the brawl rute (not having it). The game is ridiculously better with It.

Yeah, I suppose I can agree with that then. It would speed up gameplay!

I take that back, it was on the Smash website for 64.

Yep! Google Translate did a decent enough job.

I never really liked any of the stages from Brawl, but from what I've seen thus far from Smash 4, the stages look great.

However, I have one concern, specifically with the bosses that apparently appear in some of the stages. I really hope there is an option to turn off this feature - if not, I hope the amount of stages that have bosses is relatively small (<5).

I have no problems with passive environmental hazards, but something like a boss that disrupts the fight and changes the dynamic of the battle doesn't appeal to me

Additionally, I hope we'll get a few of the Melee stages back - I would love to see HD versions of Great Bay and Fourside.

As much as I love Syrup, and want her in Smash, she's still not a WarioWare character. :p

They should really just re-title the WarioWare franchise to just "Wario". That way, there could be wider representation of both Wario Land and Ware, Assist Trophy/Trophy/fighter-wise.

Just noticed I typed "WarioWario". Amazing.

Yup, combine that number with the insane number of tracks in the Wii u version and we are looking at a record breaking amount of songs in this game between the two versions.

That would be pretty lame if the stage count in either version is gimped because of this. I've said it before, but I really hope the two versions don't feel like an incomplete part to a whole that can never be completed.

honestly, I thought the amount of Brawl's music was overkill. It was nice, but damn there were LOTS
