Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

Crash Bandicoot and Jak should stay dead. Not only are they mediocre games that time has ravaged, they're horrendous looking. I can't believe people are getting excited over a ND art book, when half of it will probably consist of these two, or early concept art that's EVEN WORSE.

Super Mario Sunshine is my favorite 3D Mario game. 3D Land is my least favorite, 64 being only one higher up on that list since I didn't play it as a child, leaving me with no nostalgia for the game. I've yet to buy 3D World.

:flame shield engaged: Nintendo consoles seem to be for kids and Sony/MS console seem to be for grown ups. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the 64 and don't plan on getting one any time soon.

This. All Japanese characters look like women.

Truly the most maidenly woman of all time.

I think people who hate on TLoU for it's "weak" gameplay are simply terrible at the game. People who gave up on Survival for one reason or another are hiding behind their high minded opinions the simple fact that they can't enjoy a game if it's just too hard.

These same people let all their poor facebook friends die in the online meta game and should feel ashamed for it. Karen was counting on you, guys. :(

I also have to punch my "Resident Evil 4 is Hot Garbage" punch card while i'm here. Three more mentions and I get a free Tank Controls!!

Consoles are hardware DRM boxes which have no other reason for existence than enabling playing games for people who are too dumb to maintain a gaming PC.

All Infamous games are crap and massively overrated.

I'm a big fan of Yoshi's Story on the N64 and I even like his voice.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 is one of the best racing games of last generation.

I feel so stupid having a PS4 and no desire at all to buy Infamous, I got the first 2 for free and they're so boring to me (as Prototype)

The only thing separating Rhythm Heaven Fever from Android freeware is a $30 MSRP and Nintendo's good name.

I never found a rhythm game on Android as fine tuned as RH.

My controversial opinions now are:

Tomb Raider was boring and so off-setting being filled with moans and cry. Goddammit shut up Lara you're hiding 2 feet away from two enemies, stop breathing jesus.

Towerfall isn't that great. The new Bomberman? Come on.

Inazuma Eleven is badly composed. The idea is great, the execution is so poor, bring back Captain Tsubasa.

Super Mario 3D World was boring, Nintendo is an asshole for locking the best level and forcing me to collect everything. Fuck you.

Rare has never been a good developer, they just got lucky with Goldeneye and Donkey Kong Country.

When I buy a PS4 I won't buy Infamous. I got the first one for free when PSN got hacked and I didn't like it at all, it's just not my kind of game.

I don't like Shadow of the Colossus much at all. I found it way too empty and tedious to complete.

Ico is a far better game, and feels like an actual adventure.

That's not controversial. The first part is flat out wrong, consoles exist because the market says they should. The second part groups together a wide range of people and flat out insults them.

The Souls games are terrible (I haven't played Dark Souls 2 but I've heard its more of the same). The combat was absolutely awful. It felt slow and imprecise and the best way to beat bosses was to just spam projectile attacks at distance. A cursory check of my past opinions on framerates would show I'm the farthest thing from a 60fps or bust fundamentalist but even I had issues with the treacle like controls on both Demons and Dark Souls (PS3 and 360 versions respectively). I only bought Dark Souls because of all the hype saying it was much tighter but the gameplay was still pretty awful. The games also suffered from a super generic universe, poor plot and dull graphics. About the only redeeming features were the interesting boss design (visual not gameplay) and the sense of challenge at the beginning.

All the God Of War games (even the PSP versions) shit all over them from a combat perspective.

As Sage said above, that's how you do controversial.

Steam is just a drm service overtly championed by people too caught up in their own hubris. The pc audience is just as prone to obnoxious fanboy tendencies albeit with a higher degree of denial about it.

Ubisoft games are essentially all the same game with just enough art asset difference to hide that fact.

Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs.

Capture points. Fill bars.

hell, even the terrain from far cry, assassins creed and tomb raider look the same.

PS2 is overrated.

Kinda agree. It won by default. Despite the Dreamcast doing record launch sales Sega was too deep in dept. Nintendo was too late with the Gamecube and it used those silly little discs and the Xbox was an aspiring but new brand.
And lets not forget many of the PS2 killer games were PSone sequels.

Thats not controversial at all. They also have shit framerates too.

gamecube had 3rd party issues, because of the small discs.

xbox came way after.

dreamcast was okay, but the hype of ps2 and dvd's crushed it. it had decent launch titles, but again, it came early, and ps2 seemed from the future.

sega saturn was also a giant unerasable shitbomb. as was 32x.

These aren't Ubi games?

Agreed. But that is hardly controversial.

Disagreed. Everything else simply looks bad because of how GREAT this game was.

Pretty easy to make polished games when you are remaking the same bunch of games over and over, almost never taking risks. I've played all of their games, (worked for them in the late 90's/early 2000's) and think they make great games but they most certainly do just rehash... actually rehash is probably too kind. They make the same game with a few new touches. You do that over and over and of course you're going to have polished games.

Totally disagree. Apart from the gameplay itself being 'fake stealth' (seriously, a guard sees you, the screen shines, you hide and he's like 'hmm I must be high') and not even including knocking on walls, hiding bodies in crates/lockers, under boxes etc, yet still relying on tacky '!' instead of making an immersive, minimal HUD and onscreen prompts is bad enough. But the fact they charged so much for content that is smaller than many free demos and cheaper DLC is a joke. But again, most people have either of these opinions so hardly controversial.

I'd love to know how many of the so called Souls fans played the original game on day one. Having never played a Souls game before (nor having read or watched walkthroughs), Demon's Souls was a very tough game for everyone. Yes, you could master it, but you are speaking shit if you call the game easy.

It's pretty common for people to finish a tough game and then whip their dick out and say they breezed through it. And this earns you nothing by the way.
A+ post

i had to look it up. Tomb Raider isn't but I thought it was because it is oddly similar to Far Cry and Assassins Creed. Even down to art and minigames.

my point still stands though.

This is a problem more than just exclusive to ubisoft.

Your point is valid, but the publisher accuracy is a distraction. Pretty much all AAA published stuff is the same these days. Filling bars in HD 900p.

I decided to look into that.

Daniel Bisson has worked on Tomb Raider and also was with Ubisoft on the Assassin's Creed games.

also
"A number of members of ex-Ubisoft staff have worked on Eidos Montreal’s multiplayer Tomb Raider component, boasting experience gleaned from creating the multiplayer modes for Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six and Far Cry 3, amongst others."

I think Arkham Origins is the best of the Arkham games.

It's certainly not perfect : the game was extremely buggy at launch, I couldn't care less about the multiplayer and the open world is a bit lacking.

Aside from that, the small changes they've made to the combat and the increased difficulty on New Game + compared to the Rocksteady games (which I still consider to be great of course) make it a deeper and more satisfying experience gameplay wise.

And the story is miles better than in the previous two games. I actually consider it to be one of the best Batman versus
Joker
story I've ever seen in any medium. The further you get into it and the crazier it gets : the insane monologue you hear close to the end of the game, the unexpected flashback to Axis Chemicals with the unreliable narrator, the first appearance of Batman on TV where you're still playing him in a fight while watching it on a TV screen along with the rest of Gotham, etc. So many great moments !

Eh. I think a statement like this makes you sound like the dumb one if that's what you honestly believe.
Not trying to flame but that's quite the generalization.

...I got banned once for calling PC gamers insufferable. I wonder if I could've shown them a post like this would they have let me off the hook.

Well, since you wanna be that guy, here's another controversial opinion (that I actually believe):

Isometric view is kinda garbage-y, and has no place in modern RPGs.

Any Super Smash Bros game is NOT a fighting game. It's closer to a party game.
I'm okay with calling them whatever genre, but party game? What is exactly a party game? Guitar Hero is a party game, for example. Call them... uh, platformers or dating simulators, at least those are genres that actually define gameplay.

These designations are about as useful as calling something a party game. They also define design elements, not gameplay.

I think Final Fantasy XII was one of the worse Final Fantasies made.

I couldn't play more than 10 mins of Final Fantasy X-2 after seeing the concert and girl power-power ranger-like poses

I couldn't get into Final Fantasy 9 cause of how the characters looked
