Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

He looks classic glass cannon... once you break through his super armour. Besides, Smash has always been a maneuverability game
Any character with a strong throw is going to give him hell.

Also, stage pick in tournaments is gonna be a bitch with Mac.

My new main is looking gooooood.

I could already tell from the reveal trailer how extremely fun he's going to be.

So, Greninja will be the new Ike for online matches?
At least, he looks more fun to play than Ike :p

Not at all, the people who spammed Ike and spammed his smashes for how easy they are to kill with likely aren't going to spam greninja who probably requires more finesse to be good with

"If you press and hold the button, Greninja will move a greater distance. Another unique feature is you can move Greninja around freely while charging up."

I don't get it. Move around freely while charging?

Can someone translate this?
横必殺ワザ"かげうち"は、突然消えて奇襲を仕掛けるワザ。 ボタンを押し続けると、移動距離が伸びる。 ためている間、自由に操作することができるのが特徴。

Seems like Little Mac will be the character people will try to use to brain dead their way through online Smash. Until people start getting used to exploiting his weaknesses.

More development time + started out porting brawl + bigger team = roster cuts all around... somehow.

I would imagine that Super Smash Bros 4's development and budget management would be much better than Brawl.

I would like to believe that Namco-Bandai secretly working on Smash prototype for awhile before they officially announced the alliance between Bandai-Namco and Nintendo for Smash Development on Nintendo Direct. I would imagine that they started working on prototype during April 2012, so they started from the port of SSBB.

I would like to point out that Brawl only got 26 months in development, and 3DS & Wii U are in the development for 24 months. I can imagine that the development probably ended up being 27 or 28 months just for 3DS, then other few months for Wii U as we see that we are getting Winter Release for Wii U.

With Brawl port, it's more likely to help the development teams with the chores since they can bring the skeletons of move sets, items codes, assist trophies and pokeball pokemon codes, etc over to the computers. They could reused those codes and starting to adjust the codes from there.

Yeah, people said Smash 4 are in completely different situation, which I would agreed with. However I'm not saying that it's easy job but I would imagine that the job between 3DS and Wii U are simplified by port the HD models from Wii U to 3DS development teams so they can downgraded the characters by themselves and adjust the models to match with 3DS artistic models. Same thing would goes with items, assist trophies, pokeball pokemon, etc.

I'm pretty sure that they already split the team to work on both system, but I can imagine that 3DS team would be little bigger to make sure that they would work on single player and multiplayer contents, and trying to complete the game for a summer launch window. Once they are done with 3DS then I can see both of teams could reunited and start to working on Wii U contents full time. That's probably why we haven't really seen much of single players modes and the contents for Wii U.

There are so many things that I want to added but I think I would kept rambling for long time but yeah. It's all speculation.

Damn that Pokémon looks great. I don't say that often anymore.

2 pics??

stahp spoiling me Sakurai.

Nice Borderlands avatar. I guess you are hyping for Pre-Sequel?

Oh, I forgot that Sakurai didn't show off Luigi's (presumably) new vacumn Smash. More to see...

I can imagine that there are some good amount of veterans getting new final smash.

If any Pokemon should be a fighter in Smash 4 it's Magikarp.

This reminds me... Why Goldeen is an AT? Magikarp has potential as one instead of it. When Magikarp appears it won't do anything like Goldeen, but there's a small chance that it evolves to Gyarados and destroys the opponents with Waterfall/Hyper Beam.

Edit: A part of my post was Greninja'd.

Anime reference.

That'd be terrific.

They have similar neutral specials and are both pokémon, the similarities end there as far as I can see.

There's certainly room for both of them in Smash.

Why are people acting like Mewtwo is screwed?

Because assuming Jigglypuff is returning, that puts us at 5 Pokemon already. Most people, including myself, think 6 is overkill. Also, consider the fact that it seems like Lucario is the "new Mewtwo" and it's hard to imagine Mewtwo getting in.

The only way I can see it happening is if he replaces Jigglypuff, which I think is certainly possible (but unlikely) for two reasons:

1. Jigglypuff is hardly relevant as a popular Pokemon anymore. It was popular in the anime's early days, when Smash Bros. 64 came out, but not anymore.

2. Jigglypuff was severely nerfed in Brawl, and as such nobody really played as her. I don't think it would be very missed, except by those who have a strong attachment to the "original 12" or those that mained Puff in Melee.

If I recall correctly, we had 6 in Brawl, & Jigglypuff isn't going anywhere thanks of her OG status.

And Lucario wasn't supposed to replace Mewtwo.

I don't think we can really judge what Sakurai thinks are popular/unpopular characters in smash especially not based upon the us scene.

Anyone who thinks Jigglypuff is getting cut at this point is crazy

uh I'm pretty sure thats not how game development works, SEGA never made an olympic crossover game prototype on the off chance Nintendo was going to form an alliance for the very thing, or Capcom making Marvel assests before they team up for MVC3

He's not saying they were making a prototype by chance. He's saying odds are they were already working together with Nintendo/Sakurai before they publicly announced the partnership.

I personally think we're getting six. If we get one Mario newcomer (or Dr. Mario), or one Zelda newcomer plus Ganondorf returning, those series would each be at six, so I don't think six Pokemon is too out there.

But then again, trying to predict Sakurai is a futile act. No one can predict that man.
No one.

Did Sakurai announce that the characters of the first game are guaranteed to appear in every SSB? For the sake of Mewtwo or another Pokemon rep, I'd really want Jigglypuff to leave.

3 of which were bundled together as a single character.

I don't expect Jigglypuff to leave, but I do think it's possible. Only if it's to squeeze Mewtwo in, though.

The real question is, would anyone be fine with Jigglypuff getting cut if it meant another more deserving Pokemon got in? Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike...
Squirtle?

Jigglypuff's already been established as a higher priority though...

Yep, this idea that they'd cut jigglypuff to bring back mewtwo makes no sense at all

Did Sakurai say they wouldn't be back? Or give us any reason to assume a character who's been in every game till this point would be cut?

I probably didn't say it right but it's not what I meant. I meant it as they officially announced their alliance to the public and audiences on Nintendo Direct.

Of course, i'm pretty sure that they already made the deal and agreements way before April 2012.
