Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Blasphemy.

“Trust means everything in my business. A couple of bad rumors could ruin a girl! Say, handsome...have you read the roster? What does it say about little old me? ...Wait, why am I even asking? I'll just waste you and check it myself!”
—Anna's pre-battle quote talking to Sakurai about Smash.

10/10, I understood that reference.

I wouldn't mind ZSS's heels so much if they threw in a few techy-looking straps or motherboards on her calves / shins so they were at least emulating the Chell-style "boot" look. Her proportions are also a little more ridiculous now.

Actually, going back to picking someone who's not a lord, Elincia wouldn't be a bad idea (lance and magic user):

Pegasus is too big.

The chill high heel boots where snazzy. Those things looked so cool.

So I was about to post the following :

I agree that Samus's apparent breast augmentation is more problematic than her high heels, but it is what it is and complaining here isn't gonna change anything, so we might as well stop arguing about it.

*Sudden Realization*

If we stopped arguing about stuff we have no power to change... NeoGAF wouldn't exist.

Continue!

I find merchants generally distasteful. The only other character throughout the games is Tiki, but she won't get picked because she would have to be a transformation character. If I played more than Awakening, I might warm up to Anna.

Actually, there is one other recurring character: Jake. However, his appearance is all over the place:

Doubtful unless stuff like this:

improves your impression. Anna as a real character is a relatively new thing.

....does Jake even appear in Awakening?
I don't think he shows up nearly as often as Anna, even if he was actually playable first.
He doesn't and you're right, he's not in as many games as Anna, but he was in the very first and FE12, he's an axe user (Ballistician notwithstanding) and he's connected to Anna, so he could make an interesting Assist Trophy if they ever went that route.

They can do things for more than one reason. They look practical. Care and extra detail have been put into them to give them that appearance.

Do they, though? Samus having super-strength thanks to DBZ-style training from the Chozo is probably the saving grace in this situation. That strikes me as the kind of tech that would immediately break the legs of anyone unfortunate enough to try it on without being turned into a super-soldier.

I can't wait for Prime 4 to have more Space Pirate logs where they tried reverse-engineering the space heels and just ended up ripping their legs off.

What if Chrom can call in other characters to assist him? Basically like a character with built-in Assist Trophies. It'd play to the whole Pair Up idea.

Then you'd have a Wonder Red/Wonderful 101 situation on your hands. A Pair Up team of Chrom and Avatar would work assuming Lucina is reduced to Marth alt costume.

I never got Tiki in my first playthrough of Awakening because I didn't know she recruitable, or something. I do really hope Anna makes an appearance though, since she has a lot of personality, she's another female rep, and she'll be a step in the right direction as far as Smash representation goes, showing not all the characters are blue haired bores with swords.

Because she's a recurring character I don't think that should go unnoticed, and even though she's not got an exciting weapon, with the way she wields it, mixed with her quirks and thief/merchant background I'm sure the team would be able to do something with her.

Nah, man. If we're goin' far back to get a non-lord it should be Finn. He's the only character playable during the entire story of the Judgral Saga while everyone else is busy dying and he has a bitchin' lance.

I like the way you think.

That's why we can keep dreaming for a Fire Emblem all star fighter game like Persona Arena.

You mean like Sengoku Basara X. :)
ASW is alright and all, but...not in this case. It'd be one thing if it meant ASW making a game that was more like Battle Fantasia instead of their usual style, but I don't think I'd like a FE fighter with airdashes.

My preference? As long as Namco is in the business of making Nintendo-themed fighters, I'd much rather have Project Soul working on a FE fighter in the Soulcalibur style. And that's assuming Project Soul isn't already working on Pokkén.

One of Skullgirls' artists joined the "fuck you high heels for Zero Suit" group

His reasons and bigger drawings here

The second image from the left would probably look the nicest if the shoes were her suit's shade of blue. That said, this issue's just a tad bit overblown honestly. I see the reasoning but it just seems weird when the design isn't all "hey look at me be sexy/a woman" so much as "hey, these things are rocket springs on the bottom of my feet when I'm not wearing my Suit of Planetary Erradication™."

If we are moving away from blue haired swordsmen then may I suggest Anna?

Such a versatile character, she was my go to next to Maribelle for my healer.

#TeamAnna grows one at a time.

:')

This is why Fire Emblem needs a non-lord rep, and that rep should be Anna!

I mentioned it before but I really think it'd be great if FE got that third slot and made it so Marth (first lord, most popular character in the franchise easily, Akaneia/Akaneia's lore frequently gets shouted out in the series) and Anna (longest recurring character in the franchise, could play up a more "fun" or playful angle of the series, "jack of all trade(r)s" potential, female rep) were the tenured faces for the series and the third spot rotated to focus on the current lord.

Well, now we need to have a 5 page argument over which 4 characters he should summon.
Chrom's backup could work like Zelda's Phantom Slash -- his special moves call in different Fire Emblem characters who lunge forward or fire a shot or block a hit or buff him in some way before disappearing.

Slightly off topic but I think it's relevant.

If you're a fan of that "The Smash Brothers" documentary that was released last October by Travis Beauchamp aka Samox then you should definitely check this out.

It's a Kickstarter for a full 2 hour movie documentary that will be released on Netflix about Armada, Mango's rivalry with Armada, and the rise of Dr. PeePee. Like I said, if you were a fan of "The Smash Brothers" documentary then you should consider pledging to the Kickstarter.

If you haven't seen the amazing documentary about the competitive scene of Super Smash Bros. Melee (which is technically the game that gave birth to the scene, not Smash 64) then you should go to www.youtube.com/eastpointpictures to watch the full 4 and a half hour documentary (preferably the Remastered version). It's really a great series and gives you a lot of backstory and insight into the players that made Melee what it is today (and some of which who still compete).

Just... thought I'd post it. Don't know if a separate thread is necessary or not... the thread I made on the documentary originally is far too old to bump.

I posted a thread about it here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=108171117#post108171117

I am sorry though, I would have let you post it had I realised you mentioned it here. My bad.

Well, now we need to have a 5 page argument over which 4 characters he should summon.

Let's go:

Neutral b: robin/avatar in his default class to cast a magic spell

Up-b: sumia to give him a lift with a pegasus ride/spear stab combo

Side-b: some frederick horse-charge thing.

Down-b: some lucina appearance.

I guess lissa would be a good candidate for representation plot-wise too.

Yes to all of those ideas, except his sister should be his Down B and she should cast a healing spell to reduce his damage (lol, would be amazingly broken).

Lucina should be a Marth clone, with masked and unmasked alts, the latter featuring glorious flowing hair physics and Lucina's deep... dark... heart-melting... knee-wobble-inducing... shimmering eyes...

Sumia, Olivia, Maribelle, Sully? :P
Why all women, and why Olivia?

If it were done, it should be a flyer (up + b), an archer or caster (side + b), a healer (b), and a...tank?

Sumia is a good choice for the up+b, Tharja for the caster to appease weirdos, Maribelle or the Lissa for the healer, and imo Frederick for the tank. There is serious brotherly love there.
