Thank god you changed your avatar, I had reached the point of getting greek food three times a week thanks to you

Actually, what the hell is it now

yeah, i changed it while drunk and i'm not sure it's large enough to be comprehensible, so it's prob gonna change once more soon lol. It's Fantomah, a Fletcher Hanks character. he's a cartoonist that made these corny superhero comics where the superhero would always punish the villain in some ironic way.

Have been playing dragon's dogma. Some of the design decisions in the game really makes me question what the hell they were thinking.

No fast travel? quests with permanent failures? No fast forwarding of time when many quests are time of day dependent? No levrl caps when recruiting pawns? Good thing it is a ps+ game.

It is terribly designed in so many ways.

The Hero Trap funded on Vita with 3 hours to go

http://thevitalounge.net/the-hero-trap-is-coming-to-ps-vita/

I quite like the look of this, nice to see more games with a sense of humour.

I almost thought it was multiplayer...

Really would love this style of game as an online 4 player gauntlet style experience

I would have quickly forgiven all of its faults if it had 4 player co-op.....

You can't rest or wait x amount of hours?

You can rest in the inn till the morning or the night, nothing in between.

I just spent 10 minutes waiting for an npc to appear on the afternoon to complete a quest. 10 minutes is not enough for me to do anything else. It was frustrating.

I was also doing another quest when a notification popped up that I can no longer do another different quest. That was a real wtf moment for me. It just didn't make sense why they designed it this way.

I was also able to recruit level 60 + pawns right from the get go. Breaks the game half an hour in. Seriously capcom, seriously.

In the trailer they say it has 4 players co-op.

For what I've said it's a dungeon crawler but instead of a basic attack + skills you can carry some (3?) ghosts, each ghost has a different skill and you need to combine them in a way you can survive.

Looks quite good. I didn't know this game existed until now though.

It does?

Well shit that sounds fantastic

Succumbed to the Easter Sale and got Virtue's Last Reward, Spelunky and Thomas Was Alone (all for the Vita, of course). I'm supposed to play 999 or at least read about the story before I play VLR though, righ?

If possible play 999 on the DS (recommended), or the IOS version. But if you can't, watch a Let's Play or something. Reading about it won't be the same thing, I guess.

Starting work on the Soul Sacrifice Delta OT, but I might just recycle the headers from the previous SS OT.

Demon Gaze OT should be up in a few hours after I'm done with class.

I do have a 3DS (and an old, blocky DS haha) so I could order it off Amazon if it really is that integral to the story. I'll look into it, thanks.

The game gives you a small summary on 999. But I HIGHLY recommend you play 999 first. The iOS version should be available. Just know that "half" of the game is missing (the puzzles) and is just the story. There is also a scene that makes more sense seeing it on DS and not iOS. whether you choose the iOS or DS version is up to you as it deserves to be checked out in its own right.

I think that 999 isn't integral for understanding VLR, really. But 999 is an amazing game that should be played by its own merits. Even because 999 > VLR.

I do actually have an iPhone 4S, would it be completely wrong of me to experience the game without the puzzles considering what drew me to the franchise was the story & concept, and not the puzzle sections?

Understanding... perhaps. But the emotional impact of VLR will be greatly enhanced with a 999 experience I just can't in good conscience say "oh it's alright to play VLR without/before 999."

So are there many VitaGaffers interested in Conception 2 ? The OT surprised me with its lack of negative posts ( °_°)
My interest is really piqued, the game world seems so over the top stupid that it could be really funny. But like Demon Gaze, I fear the burnout I experienced while playing Unchained Blades. And people tend to think dungeons are boring in C2...
Still, this is so out of there, I am definitely interested.

Play the Demo i guess

One of the best things about Vita is the wealth of great Demos. Especially the ones that let you carry progress to the full game (though im not sure Conception lets you do that)

I played the demo and the game just is not for me.
The demo gives a good idea of what to expect and if you will like it or not

Yup, the demo let you carry over your save. With an added bonus item it seems.
I don't know, I really must be stupid, the game won't be particularly cheap I suppose, but the idea of a rpg demo isn't something I'm attracted to. But yeah, I know I'm totally wrong in this case, I would immediately know if I find the dungeon crawling boring.

Edit : As people said the demo was relatively meaty, it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to play it waiting for the store update... mhh...

I did read all about 999 (endings and character stuff and such), then played VLR, and then played 999 on the iOS.
Whenever I saw a reference to 999 in VLR I felt glad that I did all that reading. Those moments would net a "hm" instead of a "wow" without that.

But of course, my playthrough of 999 suffered since I already knew what was going to happen (and that's probably why I prefer VLR to 999 - 999 didn't surprise me). Loved it anyway.

edit: rip tizoc.

I probably wouldn't have played VLR if I played 999 first. for some reason, a lot of it rubbed me the wrong way or just didn't seem as interesting.

The demo is what sold me on the game. You should definitely check it out.

Dead Nation Vita + DLC is up on the store, if anyone's interested.
Not accessible through Vita itself yet, you have to buy it via web and then get it through your download list.

Well, I played VLR with my SO looking on. I'd played 999 previously, she hadn't, and she was still engrossed in the story. She was a bit confused by the 999 references, but they get explained well enough throughout that by the end she had a very good understanding of what was going on.

Of course, you do get a bit of something extra from having those reveals with 999 in your memory. I just don't think it's absolutely necessary.

I see it on the web store, but it shows it cost $7.99 and I have the PS3 version.

Update. I double checked and it looks like I don't own the PS3 version any anymore. I know I got it free back when there was that PSN issue.

I dug through my download list and found Dead Nation, but for some reason if I got to it directly on the PSN store it shows I need to purchase it. Anyone else see the same thing?

Shows up as fee for me (Webstore, Vita section).
I purchased it on PS3 upon release. I don't know about PS+ copies.

Same here. Bought the PS3 version ages ago and have the PS3 and VIta version in my DL list. After refreshing enough times the Vita version sometimes comes up as free but still doesn't let me purchase it.

I think I got it for free from when the PSN was hacked back in 2011.

Change it to Stardust the Super Wizard

On a side note, I think it has been discussed here earlier - is there a way to redeem digital rewards (namely, 10$ PSN code) from Sony Rewards if I live in Europe?
I tried to do it with Firefox with MediaHint plugin (I use it to cheat netflix about living in the U.S.) but no dice.
Can other VPN services help?

Castle of Illusion is also showing up as free on the webstore. Just look for the sega genesis bundle.

Finished downloading the bundle, so what game did I start first?

Yep, the genesis game. Don't tell sony, but if they interspersed older games into the PS+ lineup I would not mind at all.

So I guess it's 100% sure that Dead Nation PS4 doesn't unlock the Vita version, right? disappointed :/ I did not have a PS3 at the time PSN was hacked(though I probably would have got R&C, Wipeout and inFamous anyway)
