One possible response to this problem is that more X/Y Pokemon are on the way, and he didn't feel like listing them all.

BELIEVE
That it would.Would fit right in with one of Snake's trademark quotes "Kept you waiting huh?"

Exactly. Melee and Brawl suffered from the pre and post buyout of Rare. DK's gotten some new games to work off of since Brawl so I think it's time the series got another newcomer.

Sorry guys I don't see anything at all saying Snake is confirmed cut like so many here keep trying to throw.
Well there's the terrible IGN poll and taking a 'general consensus' look around the Internet shows that Greninja and Hawlucha (the luchador bird) are the most popular. What are the most popular X/Y Pokemon? Is there a poll from a major site we can reference for speculation?
There was that interview a while back where Kojima said he hadn't heard anything regarding Snake being in the new Smash. Could've been lying/just not in the loop, but I'll be surprised if he returns.
Wolf's special moves are heavily modified versions of Fox and Falco's, but his normal moveset has no similarities. Normal moves comprise the majority of gameplay.
Ken is very much a Falco type clone; both his normals and specials look very similar with a few key different ones.
Again, you can't be a clone if your normals are all look different.
This reminds me of the people who think Lucario is a Mewtwo clone.
The fact that Yveltal is more popular than Xerneas on both these polls makes me think a lot of people changed their minds when Mega Charizard X was revealed a month before release. I know I did.
A grapple-based character hardly sounds boring. This reminds me of the people who thought Little Mac would be boring because "All he does is punch."Hawlucha would be a fantastic Pokeball Pokemon to jump out, grab someone and suplex them, but other than that gimmick he would be kind of boring as a character

Come on, dude, he's a luchador. He has the entire spectrum of fake punchsports at his disposal and all kinds of flippy shit too.Hawlucha would be a fantastic Pokeball Pokemon to jump out, grab someone and suplex them, but other than that gimmick he would be kind of boring as a character
That's actually where I lost hope at once. But SmashGAF came out and told me about the same incident basically happened with Sonic. Where Sega didn't know then BOOM announced. Right now I say Snake's chances are 50/50 which is basically in line with all of the other characters fans assume are currently on the chopping block.
There is no way Kojima "doesn't know" if Snake is in Smash 4 or not. Either Snake is in and Kojima is just doing an "I dunno ask Sakurai" to avoid spoilers, or Snake isn't in the game and its more "I dunno ask Sakurai" as to why he isn't in. If Sakurai had asked Kojima we all know he'd have set yes
I mean I know the original Metal Gear games were on Nintendo consoles (and Twin Snakes), but it still seems weird having Snake in period. I mean hell, it took Kojima BEGGING Sakurai.
I don't consider Luigi to be a clone. The whole lucario is a clone thing is silly as they share exactly one move I'll give you that, but as you pointed out every single one of Wolf's specials is based upon Fox/Falco including his final smash. Yes his a moves are largely different but that still makes him a clone even if he's in a style of like Luigi where a lot is changed he is still a clone. Sakura as an example is a clone of Ryu/Ken even if they play nothing alike as they're from the same basic foundation.
Maybe you'd be happier if I said "lucas, wolf, luigi, ganondorf, and falco are all semi clones/luigi style clones" you can add all kinds of terms to make it sound lesser but a clone is still a clone
It's definitely not equally silly, but I think your skepticism is reasonable.Equally silly if we're we're talking about positions in a roster, considering how important each individual rep is to people reading into the rumors.
Just seems like a big stretch to make to give the second "leak" some amount of credibility.

I don't consider Luigi to be a clone.
Most people considered the Melee clones to be Dr Mario, Pichu, Falco, Ganondorf, Young Link, and Roy.
I always argue that Luigi isn't a clone because to consider him a Mario clone would be like calling Ken a Ryu clone. I see where you're coming from but at a certain point it's unfair to call a character a clone.

Which is like, the lamest possible reason a character could be included. Kojima was like, "Hey, Saka-samurai, I want to play Smash with my kid!" And Sakurai's response was like, "Yo dawg, a fan request? I know you like Fill-in-the-blank Snake, so I put a Snake in my Smash!"
Because really, that's what it came down to - and why does that fan request get any more attention than any of the other of thousands of people begging for their favorite character to get in? If the answer is because those people aren't friends with Sakurai, that's... not good.

All this roster talk and I'm reminded no one ever mentions Paper Mario. The amount of moveset potential there is ridiculous.

Hawlucha is amazing if only because the first time I used Flying Press my jaw hit the ground.
Hawlucha:
B - Flying Press
Up B - Flying Press
Side B - Flying Press
Down B - Flying Press
Final Smash - Roost (recover 50%)

Wow, Takamaru really is the new Geno.change Ike and chorus men with Takamaru and Isaac perfect roster
I'd pretty much put this as my final roster guess too, with the biggest what if being Lucas.Apart from the layout, that's identical to the 48 character roster I posted a while back:

I'm kind of hoping for more than 48 characters, though.
Just curious as to why everyone is leaving Lucas out of their lists. Surely Sakurai has the manpower and assets to include the previous roster minus Ivysaur and Squirtle.
Thank you kindly.

Lucas was great. I only recently started to play as him. He's pretty unique compared to Ness so I don't think Sakurai would have any reason to remove him. If anything, I say they should increase the amount of reps from Mother.

Poor Lucas.
I want Lucas back.
Seriously though, I understand why people think he'll get cut, I just really think it won't happen unless we get a different Mother series character as a new rep, which, frankly, I'd be down with.

The difference is he at least has a chance.Wow, Takamaru really is the new Geno.
