Hooray for all the Lucas love!
*high five*You're my brother.
Of course he does, I mean it's pretty much assumed they used Brawl itself as the starting point for making Smash 4.
I want him too :/ it was my main. (And represents one of the most creative and interesting franchises, in terms of lore, from nintendo... even if the games are "old")
How was he the cloniest? I've played both Ness and Lucas and they almost play nothing alike.- Gameplay wise, Lucas is one of the cloneiest characters in Brawl (except Toon Link).
- Unlike Toon Link, Lucas does not come from one of the largest game series ever made.
- Toon/Young Link has managed to dodge the bullet twice now, because Sakurai feels Zelda needs two different Links in the game for whatever reason.
- Other clones kept between Melee and Brawl were Ganondorf and Falco, the former is the main villain of Zelda and the latter was one of the most popular characters in Smash Bros Melee. And Luigi, but he's not really too much of a clone and he's Luigi...
- Visually, Lucas is pretty boring. He's just Ness with blond hair and missing a backpack.
- Mother really isn't a well known or popular series, it doesn't really need more than Ness.

I'd be pretty satisfied with this roster. Kinda think Wolf might be cut before Lucas, but who knows.Apart from the layout, that's identical to the 48 character roster I posted a while back:

I'm kind of hoping for more than 48 characters, though.
This...is surprisingly accurate lol.Wow, Takamaru really is the new Geno.
Wow, Takamaru really is the new Geno.
somehing tells me he's on the verge of getting his own game let me dreamThe difference is he at least has a chance.
I definitely #teamnocuts (Snake main here guys) but if you twisted my arm, Lucas would probably be up there on my probable cut list. I'm not entirely sure why though.
Charizard appears to literally have exactly the same model as from Brawl, with just a cleaner texture.
Just curious as to why everyone is leaving Lucas out of their lists. Surely Sakurai has the manpower and assets to include the previous roster minus Ivysaur and Squirtle.
I'm fine with Smash 5 re-using every single model with some touch-ups. There's no reason to arbitrarily change models when you can boost the roster further instead. Why did people keep saying this was ground up work? Ah whatever, the games get done faster this way and we get more characters.
True. I guess that a miniscule chance is still a chance. The difference is he at least has a chance.
I know his game was referenced in Nintendoland. What were the other two?Not really. Geno is in sticky situation with being third-party character, and Takamaru isn't. Lately they have been putting him into three recently games.
This reminds me of the people who think Lucario is a Mewtwo clone.
All the conductor says in Rhythm Heaven is "together now." I think the comment is actually a direct line from Wii Fit.So the leaked roster includes the Choir Men from Rhythm Heaven. Today's Miiverse comment is a direct line from what the Choir Men say in the DS game, yet no one is talking about it? D:
Yo, the fuck? Binacle cracks top 5 worst in both lists. That's just not right.

Yeah, I've been hoping that all the Brawl veterans return, but I don't know if I really believe that given a significant number were cut in the Melee-Brawl transition... anyone know how many from Melee failed to appear in Brawl, off the top of their heads? If not, I can just look it up...

Link to rumor?Because people seem to be hung up on 48 characters 4 cuts rumor lately so I guess they are trying to figure out who are the 4 cuts other than Ivysaur and Squirtle.
The point is that Lucario is called a Mewtwo clone for sharing two moves (forward smash I also very similar) and Wolf is called a Fox clone for sharing four.Sorry, but you can't have that be compared. Mewtwo and Lucario don't share besides a similiar looking projectiles.
Wolf has the B specials moves the same as of Fox/Falco, just work differently. Just as it was said before with Shotos. They're basically that.
Pokemon fans often have terrible taste. I'm just glad the most popular one this time isn't a blue Goku wolf.Yo, the fuck? Binacle cracks top 5 worst in both lists. That's just not right.

It is so right, it's practically commendable.
Charles Darwin is rolling in his grave over that comment. :-(It is so right, it's practically commendable.
Captain Rainbow (Japan only) and Samurai Warriors 3.
Huh, didn't realize this.Captain Rainbow, WarioWare D.I.Y. and Samurai Warrior 3.
Nearly year ago, someone spotted that Takamaru's game got review and rated by Australian Classification Board.
I guess they are waiting for right time to reveal Takamaru's new game to be ready for the announcement then they would release Virtual Console version for people in western to warming up to the game.
Maybe we will hear something about the game at E3.
Link to rumor?
Seems like a guess since Ivysaur and Squirtle weren't shown in the Pokemon trailer as playable characters and it's more than likely Snake isn't returning.
Binacle and by extension its evolution are absolutely inspired designs, perfect in their strangeness considering their real life inspiration. One of the only 'Multiple of one Pokemon' type designs that I actually like in the entire series, with a very creative end-point in Barbaracle.
I fuckin love those mons man
Marshal and Chorus Men are not the same characters. In fact a Chorus Man appears in another Beat the Beat game.Rhythm Heaven Fever - Ending, Credits Song "Dreams of Our Generation" (English) If chorus man/men is a thing, I'd use the ending to Rhythm heaven fever to show what he can do
One of the best things about Binacle/Barbacle is that Nintendo got their style of fighting perfect. There's ugly animals in real life. In Pokemon as of late there's mostly just adorable little shitheads, craggly stoic veteran warrior creatures, and things I either own or don't want to own, but with faces. That Binacle retains its inspiration's ugliness is a profound boon in my book over the legion of cute little giant eyed line mouth creatures that infest the series post Gen-IV/Sugimori's apprenticesThey are okay, ugly as shit though. Its not the concept though that people look at. Its how they actually LOOK.
That's totally right. Sorry, man.Yo, the fuck? Binacle cracks top 5 worst in both lists. That's just not right.
*high five*
Yeah. It definitley looked that way to me. I would almost not be surprised if Squirtle and Ivysaur were also playable just because those assets are readily available.
Well, Mother 3 did come out in 2006 so I'd say that it's fairly recent. The franchise is pretty unique and a key to Nintendo's history so I don't think we'll see him removed. I'd say there's a higher chance of getting an additional rep rather than minus one.
How was he the cloniest? I've played both Ness and Lucas and they almost play nothing alike.
I don't think it makes much sense for Sakurai to announce a cut unless he knows DLC isn't happening.I wonder why Sakurai didn't just announce cuts during the direct? I guess there is a small chance that the game can be delayed to add them, but the Pokemon trailer indicates Squirtle and Ivysaur are out cause I can't see him doing another Pokemon announcement after that blowout trailer. Which why there was no veteran Pokemon reveal possibly.
I have to agree. Lucas and Ness play pretty differently, in my opinion. They share a similar style, sure, there are both kids and they are both psychics, but there movesets are very different.
I think Lucas is going to stay, I just think he'll be one of the last to be revealed.

Hoping we get another barnacle Pokemon. Maybe a Steel/Water whale covered in barnacle armor, since acorn barnacles often attach to whales (although in real life the whales don't appreciate then).
Again?I'm still gearing for Lucas, Ike, Wolf, Mewtwo being secret characters again.
Let's be real Lucas > Ness.
Again?
Let's be real Lucas > Ness.
Think of it as The Ugly Duckling, except instead of turning into a swan the duckling attached to several other ugly ducklings Voltron-style to become a godless killing machine. They are okay, ugly as shit though. Its not the concept though that people look at. Its how they actually LOOK.
Automatic shell smash upon mega-evolving sounds broken as shit. I like it.A Mega Barbaracle would be nice
and yeah, both conceptually and moveset wise Barbaracle is just plain the shit
Which is like, the lamest possible reason a character could be included. Kojima was like, "Hey, Saka-samurai, I want to play Smash with my kid!" And Sakurai's response was like, "Yo dawg, a fan request? I know you like Fill-in-the-blank Snake, so I put a Snake in my Smash!"
Because really, that's what it came down to - and why does that fan request get any more attention than any of the other of thousands of people begging for their favorite character to get in? If the answer is because those people aren't friends with Sakurai, that's... not good.
