Supposed to be the latter... he was slowly losing it.

That's another problem I have with the show. Coulson spends more time looking defenseless or soft (ie: "this is not a democracy!... but we can make an exception") than like a proper SHIELD agent. He was NOT like that in his one shoot. Badass Coulson needs to come back.

Ughh...I fucking hope not. Just kill Triplett.

Triplett is not a great actor so I would not mind this. Fitz is one of the best actors of the show, just thinking back to when he was brainwashed by Loroli cracks me up, or his attempt to seem American on the train.

Oh sure, kill the black guy ...

TDog will live on forever in our hearts.

And he outlived a ton of other people before he bought the farm!

He has sunk to nothing in the past few episodes. Which annoys me, because he's one of the likeable ones.

Also, Coulson's "inspirational speech" in the sticks was Terrible with a capital T. I'm still not sure if he was trying to raise the morale of his team or if he was just raving like a lunatic.

I liked that scene!

Yeah Coulson's rant wasn't really meant to be uplifting or inspirational or anything. It was meant to show that while his intentions are good, he's that close to his breaking point. As Skye said, he literally gave his life for SHIELD, and it turns out it was HYDRA all along. And on top of that, there's the growing suspicion that he was revived to do HYDRA's bidding. He put the entire team at risk for the chance that it was actually Fury that sent the coordinates.

He basically has no reason to exist at this point now that SHIELD is gone, at least until he sees that Fury has entrusted him with carrying forward.

Chillin' like a villain.

Where is Agent Blake right now, btw? Last we saw, he got his torso and abdomen stomped on by Deathlok. Is he still alive after the Hydra attacks?

The last thing we know is that he was in critical condition. I assume at the special SHIELD hospital. Dunno what happened after that. Wonder what effect Hydra has had on his recovery if any or if he's going to come back in a different form because of it.

FitzSimmons is the only pairing that makes sense in this show.

Edit: Unless Amy Acker's celist turns out to be Root levels of secret badass.

Show had glimpses of decent episodes here and there, but once Skye got shot it's like it flipped a switch and became a different, better show. They've had enough good episodes in a row now that I can feel comfortable assuming the show can stick with at least this level of quality from here on out.

Which bodes well for a presumed second season.

Yeah I'm curious about Blake. We still don't know if he'll make it out alive, and we don't know if he was SHIELD or HYDRA. I'm assuming since Deathlok was actually attempting to kill him, that it's the former. Hopefully he comes back to help Coulson out once he's recovered.

You know. After rewatching this i take back all badmouthing i've said against Fitz. I can respect the guy for his idealism and loyalty/trust to Coulson.

Also, no Ward redemption please. It's possible for him to have the hots for Skye and stay an antagonist. Or get killed and not in some heroic return.

Yup. Evil Ward actually does the miracle of making his character interesting. Hopefully, they have the balls not to step away from it.

I thought Fitz has a thing for Skye, not Simmons. He's just really protective of the latter and also doesn't like change.

That is exactly what I thought! The one episode where they're making fun of Ward and you see Fitz joking around with her. It could almost be considered flirting between those two during that little moment.

I'd love to see Fitz/Skye as a couple. Would be an awesome power pairing.

Yeah I don't get the Fitz/Simmons romance vibe at all either. They surely love each other but it's always appeared to be a platonic love. Fitz just doesn't like that Simmons, who has been his best friend and equal, is suddenly siding with someone else over him. I got the feeling that while they've likely disagreed on a number of topics, they usually band together against others. That's changed and he doesn't like it.

Yeah Ward just shooting two dudes in the face eliminated the whole double agent thing.

The Ep was good but man there some of the "we are so eeeevil" scenes were cheese-wiz.

so how many people does Ward need to shoot in the head for people to drop the double agent thing :P

I have always gotten the Fitz/Simmons thing. or rather that Ftiz likes her. He has never liked Triplett the second he realized that she likes him, this was before she took the side of Triplett over his in the most recent ep.

Eh, I'm not even sure Simmons actually likes Tripp. I think that's one sided as all hell.

She is a chocolate chase (credit to someone else in the thread for this term!). She has been all over Trip (with the exception of the lab scene when Hydra was taking over everything) in like every scene she has had the opportunity, and before that she was in a tizzy over Peterson. Am I wrong?

Yeah, I think you guys are reaching a bit too far on this one.

How can Simmons be into Triplett when she's secretly having an affair with Nick Fury?

Whoops, sorry for spoiling the finale. Can anyone tell me how to do spoiler tags?

There absolutely is something between Simmons and Triplett, on both sides. While overtly Fitz is upset she's siding with Triplett, subconsciously Fitz is in love with Simmons. Simmons apparently is aware of this, hence her "things change" is full of subtext.

I have to admit, I like the idea of the show's Hydra super villain team being Garret, Ward, Deathlok, Raina, and Quinn. The leader, the spy, the warrior, the doctor, and the scientist. These suckers could do a lot of damage together.

I wonder if Providence is intended to become the team's base for the foreseeable future. Otherwise there will be a lot of stretched plots where they must continually find a way to refuel a huge black custom warplane with nobody catching them.

In the episode where they introduce Triplett, Garette comments to Ward that he has a thing for Simmons. I would peg the confusion over his feelings towards her on Triplett being a block of wood.

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't mind if they dropped a couple of nukes on Fury's base and just had next season be Agents of HYDRA.

I don't know if they can stay permanently @Providence since Ward is already there.

Glad the rating were up.

I hope they schedule the show later next season, and keep the darker tone. Also, I think a shorter season with a tighter storyline would also help, especially if it leads into something related to Avengers 2.

It has to be May he kills, in the process May has to redeem herself (catch a bullet for Coulson?) enraging Coulson and everyone else. No other play really makes sense

That would be great. Then they can replace her with Cobie Smulders. Also I hope Nick Fury gets more then just a small cameo in whatever episode he appears.
LET ME DREAM! :(
