Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

No she didn't. Other M is the only game where Samus doesn't defeat Ridley. The Omega Metroid beats Ridley. Ridley would have beaten Samus if Anthony hadn't saved her. Samus doesn't do anything at all in Other M except get shot, allowing the worlds greatest military mind to save the universe.
That was a Queen.

But yeah, Ridley jobbing to the Queen was stupid.

Also, Samus did open a door and turn on the power. You can't forget that. :-P

I bet he lost because he wasn't authorized to use his full powers.

My point was that that poster's point was BS because he's shown intelligence in all of his games, especially Zero Mission and Super. I didn't even mention the manga. There's no misinterpreting this cutscene:

maybe he's like a dog driving a car

She defeats him but he gets back up and runs away. If you're not counting that as a defeat, then what about Metroid Prime 1 where she doesn't even knock him down. He gets taken out by chozo ghost lasers.

I said she blew the hell out of him, and that's exactly what she did. She shot him about a billion times, he was a wreck, his wings in tatters, and then he ran away. The Queen Metroid actually "killing" him is hardly the point. She got over her issue and fought him properly.

Blame that on the game being a prequel to Fusion. Ridley being sucked dry by the Queen Metroid and subsequently taken by the Federation explains the frozen husk in Fusion.

If Samus had killed Ridley in that room he'd surely have dropped into the lava, leaving no corpse behind and creating a plothole.

I didn't even assume the husk was the result of a Metroid when I played Fusion, I just assumed it was because the X absorbed most of his biomass like it did with Serris. You actually see his eye glow, which wouldn't make must sense if he was dead for many years.

Do the spoilers have anything to do with mechanics, or is this more power level plot contrivance stuff
On a mechanic level, any worthwhile team runs Shulk because he has OP main character abilities. By seeing the future, the screen slows down and goes grayscale and plays out what the enemy is going to do, before it returns you back to the battle and lets you decide how to react and several of Xenoblade's monster's attacks are color coded as a "heavily recommended" to use Monado Shield, Monado Speed, etc. against certain attacks. Notable ones are:

1) Monado Speed: Buffing an ally's speed to evade an attack
2) Monado Shield: Temporarily negating damage from enemy special attacks
3) Monado Purge: Removing enemy buffs
4) Monado Enchant: Enchanting everyone's weapons to deal damage to invincible machine enemies
(also that absurdly strong ability that temporarily reduces all damage by 80-90%)

And various other unremarkable, well-rounded abilities (healing, Xenoblade's Daze/Topple abilities, etc.)

I'm not so sure about that in the earlygame.....

Um yes it does. Like you said, the X absorbed his biomass. What we see in that room isn't Ridley. It's a X copy of Ridley, composed of his biomass and DNA.

We DO see the original corpse from Other M though - it's in a giant freezer, SAME POSE AS THE RIDLEY CORPSE FROM OTHER M. About 10 minutes into the game.

She burned off his wings so he didn't fly away.

He wasn't knocked out, just grounded. He was a motionless heap before he got back up in Other M.

Look at that weakling. Probably would have died if the chozo ghost army hadn't intervened.

He could have revived. I mean, if Mother Brain could do it...

I hate the wireframe Mac alt. He is way to hard to see.

Also, can someone explain the thread title to me?

But I want to see
Fiora in Mechon armor
. Shulk is too uncool for that.
Dude, unmarked spoilers. The game isn't THAT old.

Actually, you can still see the future even without Shulk on your team - it just makes more sense if he is.

I bought metroid other m day 1 for $49.99 + tax

I got $20 pre order credit though.......then traded it in for $37 on amazon so basically I got paid $7 to play it

no regret, I had fun with the game but during the end I died 747747645 times , stupid queen and stupid armor bugs/pirates

I wonder how they'll handle unlockables in the Wii U version. It would be really annoying having to unlock everyone again after owning the 3DS version for 3+ months.

There's two ways they can handle it:
-No unlockables in the Wii U version
-Connecting a 3DS version with everyone unlocked unlocks everyone in the Wii U version

Personally I hope they go for the latter option.

Yeah I could see option 2 being a reality. I'd be fine with that.

I bought it for $50 around when it came out. Played it. Beat it. And I still have it. Oh snap!

Yeah, and?

He was a motionless heap before he got back up in Other M.
You mean when he was playing dead?

Unless you actually believe Ridley got knocked out and woke up a few seconds later when Samus's back was conveniently turned so he could sneak attack her.

That wasn't the ghosts; read the scan data on Chozo statues.

After poor Ridley was reduced to clutching his chest and screaming in agony, those lasers knocked him off a cliff so he fell to the bottom of the crater and exploded. God, would have been nice if he had wings or something to avoid that.

Then the ghosts let Samus into the crater to kill the real final boss and save their souls.

I like how the only way you can defend the shit in Other M is by trying to insult better games.

Gliding was confirmed to be removed. No idea on tethers.
"For the new additions, we've cut the gliding mechanic from Pit's repertoire." It makes sense to get rid of it for Pit since he can't fly at will in Uprising, but Charizard and Meta Knight could still have the ability.

Oh, whoops. I hadn't remembered that last part.

I hope they don't only because gliding lead to awful stalling tactics and flying underneath stages shenanigans. Unless they make them locked to special moves like in Project M bringing them back will only be bad and not good for the game.

Jab/Strong Up

Got these off Smashboards.

I actually really like Pit v2 that was showcased in the Direct. I like Pit in Brawl but he really did feel lacking. Pit v2 has more flair and def has more strength to him. And thank the lawd for that bomb 3 Treasures Final Smash repairing that shitty boy FS from Brawl. For all the changes, Im totally okay with trading gliding for them.

I think the good ol Capt Falcon needs a good buff, if anything just to keep up with Mac.

Ganon needs an identity, Not remain Falcon 1.5

Falco needs an identity, Not remain Fox 1.5

Wolf needs an identity, Not remain a Fox that gained 50 lbs.

Overall I liked majority of the buffs. can't wait to see the others.
