PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | April 2014

Just want to follow up on this hint that a big sale is coming to US PSN today. Nothing's happened yet, nor have we heard anything on the blog. So unless they're planning on surprising us with a huge flash sale sometime today, I kinda have my doubts.

Flash sales seem likely. Like you, I doubt we're going to get a huge sale like Europe.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though!

Edit: Oh, top of page again! Well, if you like chess, Pure Chess on PS4 is pretty damn swell. But this is usually reserved for Vita recommendations, so play Dead Nation.

What time do flash sales usually begin?

I don't know. Didn't the last one we had start pretty late at night?

Anyway, this whole sale rumor came from one GAFfer (iamvin22) claiming inside knowledge. No disrespect to the guy, since there's still plenty of time left in the day for him to be right, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

I kinda am though

I want to believe. I have some psn cash and a bunch of titles I missed this past year.
Dragon's Crown, Project Diva, Killzone all come to mind. There may be others. There surely are.

I believe this won't be put on a sale on the near, immediate future. I remember reading a post of a SEGA employee here (RubyEclipse?) saying they won't in the Project Diva thread. DC and Killzone, however are likely, seeing I already saw those two on sales before.

Yup I mentioned this one without knowing when it was released. It's just that I'm really not a rhythm game fan, I don't hate them but they don't hold my interest over time. But the Project Diva demo was so charming... it would be a no brainer at discount. Maybe full price if the sale doesn't happen.

I've started keeping a spreadsheet of my PSN games, as Sony's system for seeing what you actually own is non-existent really.

Who says Vita has no games?

All my Vita games are digital, and I really can't believe I have so many between purchases and PS+ content.

Are there any games that you would consider "must-play" that I'm missing?

For all the SMT and Persona fans here, there is new game in development by Atlus veterans called Lost Dimension. It's going to be released on PS3 and Vita.

The devs said in the interview that the game is inspired by SMT IV.

Here are some screens....

Here is the link to the article that has the rest of the details http://www.siliconera.com/2014/04/16/lost-dimension-looks-like-rpg-inspired-shin-megami-tensei-iv/

I'm really pumped for this, I'll tweet the hell out of Shahid to get this localized x)

Wow looks very interesting!

Here's wishing it'll get a localization! *WISHES*

Holy shit! Thanks for the heads up man!

According to a blurb I saw on Twitter, depending on how well OreShika does, SONY Japan Studio may "rethink their position on RPGs". Here's the linked Japanese article: http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/7639859.html

Don't have time to make a thread, but if anyone wants to, go ahead.

Japan Vita owners, we need you to step up and buy this one! The US won't get it until maybe a decision about more Vita RPGs are already made, so it's up to you to start us out right!

Oreshika is already a day 1 buy. Still can't believe they're bringing it over. Thank you based Shu.

edit: oh and Freedom Wars as well

Hmmm, just moved to a new place and Im having some strange issues with the Vita connecting to the WiFi.

It keeps dropping or is super slow, even though my laptop has no issues connecting to the same signal. could there be some interference with the DISHTV satelite?

I have the same issue, particularly with the browser. pages will stop loading randomly, ony to start working again after 20-30 seconds of waiting.

I think it's not what he was talking about. I may be wrong but what he is saying is that the whole 'Japan studio will rethink its position on JRPG' is primarily a Japanese thing. That what matters the most in the decision will be the Japanese purchases.
I'm not saying US numbers can't be influential, but what I get off this tweet is that it is not directed at worldwide customers.

Edit - Uguu, Zhao_Yun...

I think he meant that they won't wait for the US release before deciding on the future of RPGs on their systems. Therefore the Japanese players have to do their work ;)

Oh, I was confused by what "it" was referring to.

...Actually, I still kind of am.

I think that Sony Japan will be more likely to greenlight more jRPGS on Vita based on sales of Oreshika in Japan than they are on the overall world wide sales. It would take really amazing international sales to make up for a failure of the game in Japan (similar to what happened to Valkyria chronicles, it took some serious world wide sales and word of mouth in those territories to make up for the lackluster sales of the first one in Japan)

It also give us more "outs", if oreshika sells gangbusters in Japan, but just does OK in US/EU that doesn't mean that more jRPGs won't be on the way.

However, It would probably mean that Atlus/XSeed/NIS would have to pick up SCEJ games for localization though (as opposed to SCEA handling it internally), and would increase the "risk" associated with those localizations.

"It" what ? The tweet ?
Well I can only imagine as I don't read Japanese and I'm just basing my opinion on the reactions here, but I think that's a tweet directed at Japanese people to politely say that, if Oreshika sells poorly there, they shouldn't be surprised if Japan Studio do not produce JRPG anymore.
But really, don't quote me on that.

Edit - Double uguu ultra combo.

Hmm, I don't know if I find the whole setup in the video cute or creepy... hold me, I want to hug the giant cat.
Why not both?
I know the DS version purists would kill me for this but I would buy this on week one, or day one if there are preorders for this game. R1 and R2 versions arrive late here in my country so if this doesn't have any DLCs I might go for the R3 one.
It seems to be the usual Tales of DLC where it's just cosmetic stuff (costumes, pay to get more levels up, items etc.) judging from the Japanese add-ons section for it
https://store.sonyentertainmentnetw...=JP0700-PCSG00125_00-TOHRFULLGAME0000:ADD-ONS

So if it doesn't bother you missing out on that you mayaswell.
Video is private now.....man why don't they just announce the thing in a damn blog post already they've leaked in several places now.
Seems like they didn't have the time to prepare a gamepage/PR before uploading the video so set it to private :lol
