They weren't added because of relevance, they're throwback characters. If G&W managed to stay for two games then it's very likely that both will appear in Smash 4.
On the K. Rool subject, it's hilarious how so many people criticize Nintendo for always doing the same (Bowser kidnapping Peach), yet there has been so much salt surrounding K.Rool's disappearance of the DKC games. I bet that if K. Rool had been the villain in Retro's games, people would be asking why Retro didn't create something new. In any case, I'd like K. Rool in Smash, a fast heavy character would be cool.

Brawl and an SD card <=2gb.
If you have a Wii/Wii U with HBC installed, you have some other options available too, but the former can be done with no modification and no lasting changes.

Since the stages are different from the Wii U and 3DS, that means we're going to have different boss stages, right?
It would be cool if we can vs all the stage bosses in a boss mode like in brawl.

I think some stages are the same between both versions, and I imagine things like say Yellow Devil being a boss on the Mega Man stage in 3DS and WiiU version, Ridley being a boss on the Metroid stage in 3DS and WiiU version even if they aren't the same stage
