cant tell if amused or disappointed.

im confused, what is this video for?

Well we were talking about how there are no new 3D fighter IPs not too long ago...

I guess that's one way to do it. Color me interested.

I REALLY want to know what kind of F2P model they'll adopt.

Although a minor nitpick for a fighting game... the characters so far all look kinda douchie.

I just saw the trailer...

That's not a Tekken/SC game... it's more similar to the latest Gundam game (or Anarchy Reigns I guess).

Not what I expected but still interesting. The character designs are out there though.

I will say, it is safe to say they've learned from their initial foray into F2P.

If I were to suggest a beginner character to someone new to SF I would honestly suggest Ryu. He's a boring choice but he has all the tools you need. Fireballs so you can zone, good walk speed and normals to play footsies with, DP to beat out jump ins or for reversals, Solar Plexus to break armor (you have to learn to FA fast in SF4 as that's the main difference between that and older SF), Tatsu to also break armor and get around projectiles, a standing overhead and the classic DP FADC Ultra.

If you want to try a charge character then Guile is the way to go IMO. He will teach you how to anti air without specials (ie. with your normals) and how to charge in various situations.

That's not a minor nitpick to me. Fighting games are make or break on character design to me, I'd imagine it is for some people.

As long as the mechanics are rewarding, I'm down.

Eg CViper and Hwoarang are really douchie to me, but they are mechanical masterpieces. It took me forever to get SJC seismo or JFSR combos.

Character designs are not a nitpick at all.

If you go to the characters page they don't look as bad. The Ares mech is cool, even if it gives off Too Human vibes. Too much style clash for it too look like anything other than a freak show (which is intended, I guess, but still lacking).

That "Latest Game News" page though :O

But yeah, who knows how those images will translate to whatever the final game is.

Saikyo update where they make note of a few bug issues (They don't seem to be aware of Guy's 2f issue yet, and there's another "no EX consumed" issue going on with the EX KOs an opponent- lots of issues there.)

They also mention Hugo/Dhalsim, lol - did this blow up in Japan too? Basically say the same thing David did- there are options but you have to learn/use em. (Seems like a perfect matchup for Wultra as well.) Also mentions that they're still looking into how they play, more subtle confirmation of the console update.

Rise of Incarnates looks interesting. Judging only by the trailer and the teams involved, it seems like they want it to be a pretty even mixture of 3D fighting and Gundam-style projectile combat. I'll probably sign up for the alpha.

Your avi is adorbs :p
If I don't rep Akatsuki Blitzkampf who will?

That's not a minor nitpick to me. Fighting games are make or break on character design to me, I'd imagine it is for some people.

It's definitely major for me. Usually what decides whether I give a character a try or not (and decide whether to stick with them or not) is usually whether I like their design/appearance and what not.

I am not sure what to think of Rise of Incarnates (ROI? a F2P game? Puns, puns galore!), but I am interested to see how this will turn out. Let them get to beta stage at least before I decide whether I like it or not. So far, it looks... well, anime-ish, but that's not a bad thing. I wonder how smooth the gameplay will be, but it is in good hands methinks.

This and the Ultrachen ep a while ago got me thinking...

Can Sagat kara f HK into red focus?

Yes he should be able to, but it might become a ex red focus? At least when canceling stuff like Sagat's f.lk, Viper's st.Hp, Honda's f.Hk in to focus it becomes a focus cancel. f.Hk might be different (As it has more tight timing I think).

Anyway, f.lk With sagat in to ex red focus would be cool too, as ex red focus crumples on Level 1.

that new namco game, rise of the imperfects or whatever it's called looks like it might as well be called anarchy reigns 2, and I bet it will do as well as it, which is to say, terribly. Then it will be forgotten.

edit:
in actual FG news, Sim v Hugo is fine. Even if it turns out that it's in Sims favor, it doesn't matter, it's one matchup in a game with 40+ characters? There are going to be bad matchups.

Oh god.. it blew up in Japan too? This was just what I feared. Even if they don't think Dhalsim is broken because of this, they might get influenced to not buff Dhalsim where he needs it. Combofiend has heavily hinted at more positive changes for Dhalsim in Ultra when the console release drops, but if People are complaining about Sim, they might change their mind:(

I am not sure about this though, as all I have seen of Sim from arcade footage (Except the Hugo vs Sim match), is Sim getting blown up and the chat + the commentators talking about Sim and Hugo being the weakest characters in the game (USF4)

Yes, the EXVS team is involved, so that got my attention.

Same.

Oh, so even though the attack used for the kara whiffs it still considers the subsequent focus as a super cancel?

Going by this ancient tech, more normal kara situations don't require meter, but stuff like Sagat's f+HK offer a clear distance advantage.

Hmmm, yeah, and since ex red focus actually has no armor you can't use it with f+HK to step-up and absorb multiple hits in a more favorable position. Like you say, it'd have to be used to get the crumple.

Ken would probably have fun, though.

It doesn't absorb armor if it is released immediatly. If you hold it slightly it absorbs armor.

The changelist from Capcom explicitly notes that EX Red Focus has no armor. Has testing indicated otherwise?

Hmm.. this is what the Eventhubs translation said:

EX Red Focus
- Costs 3 bars to use.
- It used by pressing MP+MK+LP to cancel a move during hit or block.
- Damage is 1.5x as much as a regular Focus Attack.
- Level 1-3 all crumple.
- No armor.
- As long as you hold the buttons, you will get double as much Ultra gauge as during regular hits.

Since it says: "As long as you hold the buttons you will get double as much Ultra gauge as during regular hits" I assumed it meant that if you didn't release it, it would start absorbing again, but it could mean that you just get more Ultra gauge when you take the hits. Strange mechanic

That rise of incarnates game looks pretty good, though i like none of these characters. It being from the EXVS team is very promising.

Not sure about F2P though, and i kinda wish it was coming to console also.

The original Japanese doesn't phrase it quite that way, just saying that you get the ultra gauge bonus if you get hit by an opponent's attack while you're still holding buttons, presumably just as part of the pre-release part of the move.
