Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Who says it would be a portion. Conversely, there could be characters on the 3DS that aren't unlocked on the Wii U until connecting too, to make it fair.
I don't know it all just strikes me as wrong. If that were to happen neither person who only has one version (and no friends I guess :P) wouldn't be getting a complete Smash 4.

That rainbow is eggsellent!

LMFAO; despite what anyone says, keep doing this because it is brilliant!

What if they still have to work on whatever better modes the Wii U version has?
I like City Trial

He's saying that because they're currently "brushing up" right now, it's likely that they're just entering the crunch-time polishing. In which case they've already got the Wii U modes mostly figured out.

Personally, I'm not interpreting Sakurai as saying they're entering that phase of development, but if they are, the hope of an earlier release than expected is more realistic.

If they are in the final polishing phase and the 3DS ver. is coming first , both versions could be ready for release sooner than we think. June for 3DS Nov for WiiU or July/Dec, alternatively?

It would be batshit insane if the 3ds ver. Was less than 2 months away.

They are brushing up the animations because they have to be ready before the 3DS release. The second half of the year will have Wii U exclusive features as their focus.

So... Has anyone else gone back to Melee/Brawl lately and tried out characters they never used? I'm having a lot of fun playing as Samus, Marth, Shiek, Falco etc, characters that I never used to pick. I stupidly just stuck to what I know, and used Luigi and Pikachu, but wow.. feels like I've discovered a whole new game. A lot of these characters are very fun to use.

No, since I have extensively played all the cast. I have been trying characters in Project M that were shit tier in brawl though, like Wolf and Ike and they are incredibly fun and formidable.

Edit: Samus is seriously god tier (or feels like it) in P.M

Double Edit: I CANNOT wait to use her in Smash 4; comboing, her faster charging/more powerful charge shot and now being able to KO with her Up Smash is going to be killer.

No idea why I didn't do the same. I loved that all these characters were in but I just never left my comfort zone. While everyone else was using stuff like Ike, Lucas and even Dedede, I stuck to the same few characters. Now however I'm so hyped for every single veteran and newcomer alike. I hadn't even gave characters like Pit and Meta Knight a chance.

I'm going to begin playing it again soon, when the 3DS version is close to release (i.e. after E3). I've still to get all rewards and trophies; as for the cast, I've mostly used extensively around half of it, I think I'll try to play more as the others as well.

Pit is alright in Brawl but insanely good in P.M. Metaknight was nerfed but needed it bad LOL since he is the only character in brawl that plays like he has melee physics and has 4 recovery moves. Dedede is alright in brawl. He has an almost infinite chain grab and he can create a wall of pain with his back airs.

You should try Snake, Diddy, & Olimar. They are some of the best characters in Brawl. Olimar is number 2 on the competitive tier lists.

I've started playing ProjectM. And even though I feel some characters were changed too much from their Brawl appearances and their self-made stages pretty much all suck (boring platform with a ripped backdrop) it's still very fun to play.

I discovered that Ike gains a wall jump after his Side B now in Project M.... he needs it but it's RIDONKULOUS

Edit: also, you may know this but Samus can perform a morphball boost with her diagonal down forward tilt. She can also use her bombs to boost her when out of morph ball form for mind games. I did it the other day and fired her charge shot and it confused my opponent lol.

Good combos for her are down throw into up smash into forward airs/neutral airs and at high damage, morphball boost into up tilt or morphball into ice beam up smash

Didn't know that about Ike.

Samus morph ball attack is great tho. Works wonders against a friend of mine who keeps spamming Super Missiles. And if I remember correctly I once got a huge speed boost when a morph ball bomb exploded directly behind me at the exact moment I pressed A to do the Morphball boost attack? Very fun indeed.

I have tried to do that but fail every time. I have never been good at timing bomb jumps in Metroid anyway, lol. That attack is a really good combo starter though and an evasive maneuver.

Be advised with the Ike wall jump, you have to charge his side B quite a bit and be max velocity then press the control stick away from the ledge as you make contact or you'll fall into the abyss.

On a related Smash 4 note; who else thinks Samus will finally be given the Morph ball crouch walk that she deserves since Sakurai seems to be finally putting the little nuances that add to character's, well.. character ?

Link has his back flip from the 3D Zelda's, DK has his roll, hopefully Ganondorf will have his lightball projectile, Samus should have her morphball crouch "walk" roll, Luigi has his timid/terrified personality and expressiveness, & I wonder what other little nuances will be added to flesh out the veterans.

I only managed to that ONCE though. All my later attempts failed.

And yep, also hope Samus gets Morphball crouch.

"y can't metroid crawl" indeed (at least in Smash :D)

Putting sections of the game behind a paywall that requires buying another console is the worst idea for smash ever. I know it wouldn't be a first time thing as it's happened with the mario golf and tennis games before, but those sucked ass too.

You can actually use Ike's walljump out of Side B twice. Side B -> Walljump into side B -> walljump -> Up B makes for pretty strong recovery on stages with walls.

i think we will end up having less characters that some people think...

i say around 42,45 at max

especially since they are changing animation, movesets and whatelse of veteran characters

So you're saying at best we're only getting 6 more characters then the last game had? Brawl had 39 characters with a smaller development team AND they had to spend a lot of time on SSE. The numbers just don't work unless you think we've seen all but 1-2 new comers or quiet a few characters are being cut.

Please give me your list of who you think is being cut, and how many newcomers you think we're getting to get to a 42-45 character roster. You don't even have to name the newcomers it can be as simple as "a b c d e f g are being cut, 10 new comers, 45 characters" just with names instead of letters

So either this pic is really old, or it was a pretty recent change (unless this is some sort of taunt I'm not aware of):

They way her stomach is bending and how her legs meet up with her hip looks a bit weird.

IMHO,some of the clones are going to get the cut, characters like lucas and wolf that weren't that popular to begin with
Falco will stay because he is huge in the competitive scene for what i heard.
Ike will be replaced by another fire emblem swordsman.
the other unique characters from brawl wil be back, like mr game & watch, ice climbers,r.o.b.
ganondorf will be back, but maybe in name alone, with another moveset.
we will have a couple other newcomers, like palutena and/or pac-man and that's it

if i've counted well,it will be 42 characters,

mario series:mario,luigi,peach,bowser,rosalina,yoshi,wario
DK series: DK,diddy kong
Zelda series: Link, zelda, sheik, ganondorf (with new moveset),toon link
fire emblem series: marth,chrom
pokèmon series: pikachu,lucario,charizard,greninja,jigglypuff
kirby series: kirby,meta knight,king dedede
starfox series:fox,falco
metroid series:samus,zero suit samus
kid icarus series:pit,palutena
various series:olimar,r.o.b.,mr game & watch,villager,little mac,cap falcon,ness,wiifit trainer,ice climbers
third party:sonic,megaman,pacman

Perhaps the new screen is in the middle of the animation and top screen shows a key frame of that animation.

We all got burned by Brawl too.

Brawl had tons of newcomers, stages, items, modes, and subspace emissary. In terms of game content who was disappointed again? Disappointed due to the physics/balance is one thing but we're not discussing that in terms of having lower or higher expectations
